Did you do gigs with this thing? I mean, is the tuning stability ok? Does it stay in tune very well? I've tried one out and I like the sound and the light weight of the thing.
Nice review, thanks. Though I would have to say its hardly close to a Mustang. Mustangs have their own unique sound. Mustangs are slightly smaller then a Duo too, but still have that same short lovable 24 scale. All in all Mustang just look better. Specially the ones with the matching head stock. I am with others on the dislike for the color of the Squier Duo. Honestly spend $100 more and get a new Fender Blacktop Jaguar you will be much happier.
oh yes, more color options would be nice. fiesta red(white pickguard), lake placid blue(with black pickguard) would be verrry nice. i like squier for making that certain signature jazz bass, that comes in lake placid blue. custom colors are cool.
yes, I put a black plastic guard on mine, let me tell you- much more comfortable to play (gold one is like nails on a chalk board) great indie rock machine, yeah why don't they make a mustang???
why doesnt squier release a mustang, i mean, it was originaly a student guitar anyways, it shouldn't be $900. I would buy a squier mustang in an instant though, even for like, $400, which is kind of expensive for a squier.
They came out with a cyclone a few years ago which was is like a mustang only has a humbucker in the bridge and has a start style tremolo....they have some on ebay
Im thinkin about buying one of them... is there any difference between the fender duo-sonic's sound.. or even a fender mustang... i know the bodies are the same shape tho!
Thx for the review. I called all the local stores to see if they had any in stock to test but they did not. It seems to be a good guitar. I have a jaguar and a jagmaster each with their own unique attributes. I am interested to see what this one brings to the line up. Yes i agree more color options other than the desert, its the original scheme tho.
Thats a pretty ignorant statement. How many squiers have you actually played, or are you just buying into the general internet squier hatred? These Classic Vibe are just as good, if not better than a Fender guit. I should know. I've owned two Classic Vibes, 2 MIJ strats, 1 American Standard, 1 artist series strat, Classic Player's 60 strat, '89 MIK strat, and '83 squier
and u have to admit a american standard in comparison to a squire is much much better. Yes they are two totally different leagues but I didn't care much for this guitar. It's a classy guitar that is for sure, but it just didn't really do it for me.
An American Standard is not much better than every squier. Most squiers, yes, but there are a lot very good series of squiers that surpass some MIA strats. MIA does not automatically mean better anymore. I will admit the Duo sonic doesn't do it for me, but the strats and teles are awesome
that i just built and I just don't care for anything brand name at the moment. I played a mia telecaster and i reallly did not care for it, I had a mim that i liked better but still didn't care for it.
yea i play a warmoth Les Paul, warmoths are the best imo because if u did it like me i finished, wired, assembled, etc. everything myself, so basically the only flaws on it are my fault, which isnt a bad thing really, it only makes the instrument more unique to myself, plus with warmoths you even get your choice for the size/type of frets that they install on your neck
did you get permission to do that review? ;) almost looking over your shoulder there for a second. duck and dive store owner is coming ;) lol. great guitar, i wish they had it in surf green tho
Yes! Very heavy duty! The fender rep told me they covered the headstock and told the people playing it that it was an american custom shop and people raved even at that price point! Very nice guitar!
The Guitar sustains well for the pickup and size configuration, I love the feel of the high gloss neck unless you get sweaty really easily, then it gets rather sticky. The neck is a 22.5 scale smaller than even a mustang "same scale as the squier mini strats" so it is great for someone with smaller hands
Did you do gigs with this thing? How is the tuning stability? Does it stay in tue very well?

Is this thing suitable for gigging? I mean, does it stay in tune for long enough? A lot of cheaper guitar suffer from tuning instability.

diffrent scale and diffrent switching system...other than that the mustang is rosewood and this is maple

I'm no guitar expert, but sounds like a perfect cross between a tele and a strat, very nice !

How does it sound compared to a Mustang or Regular Duo Sonic? I was just curious about the pickups and the impact of the maple neck.
taylornutt 2 years ago
its pretty quacky,
but everybody dont forget its going through
A. a line six and pretty much every guitar sounds the same through a line 6.
B. its still a squire

Also, I got small hands--what's your opinion about the shape and feel of this neck?

According to the official Squier specs, it is a 24" scale? Are they wrong, I know they have been in the past...
