Here's a list of moves that enforce my previous statement: Escrima Kali and Silat are killing styles, not self defense, and thus not allowed in the UFC.
12-6 elbows from Muay Thai are illegal
Boston Crab technique from Jiu Jitsu is illegal (dislocating both legs at the hip)
Grabbing the trachea from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, is illegal (this move is not allowed in BJJ competitions but is taught by some teachers as a form of survival fighting)
Heel Kicks to kidneys (taekwondo) are illegal. mma's SISSY
This type of martial art its the original Wing Chun. I think Wing Chun is fake. Who doesnt know Chinese. Master of copycat and piracy. Almost 90 % of their factory made are fake item. I doubt about their historiical artifact too. I quite confident that teracotta warrior also fake. LOL.
Wow im a malay n even i didnt know that the keris is/was poisoinous. I tot it was an ordinary a lil bit silly lookin small sword, or knife. Shame on me
the prove that silat come from JAVA (Indonesia) : they use keris sword, which is the common sword used by javanese people. keris are also found in sumatra but the oldest keris founded in JAVA island where Majapahit Kingdom ruled
@theKribow oh shut the fuck up! silat developed its own distinctive styles across malay archipelago. We never claim silat as our creation, only idiots will say that. even all the gurus admit that silat began as a mix of other martial arts. u want to claim keris as javanese creation? Look again! Keris had its original wavy shape from India but improved to be tapered like Chinese sword. You can find keris everywhere in South East Asia, including Philippines and even India. Idiot.
@whygothic everything has it roots.every martial arts is a imitation from another martial arts.original shape from india but improved, sound familiar isnt it?but not just take it and say its a tradition from malaysia (like malaysia said about silat).yes, i can find keris everywhere because Majapahit imperial (indonesia=jawa) had ruled in philippines.and in india, well u said keris hasd it roots from india, well maybe the merchant in the past brought it back to india as a gift to their family.
when u never claim silat as your creatioin, why they said it as a traditional martial arts in malaysia?if you are fair enough, you can say to this 2 dumbasses, that they should go to indonesia.
@theKribow ugh the stalker is back...read your own phrase man, "it is a traditional martial art in Malaysia." silat has been practiced by Malays since hundred of years ago, does that not qualify to be defined as 'traditional'? now please stop talking about what belongs to whom, it's sickening. nobody cares. as for that pendet dance? it was a mistake by the stupid firm who was contracted to produce the video.nobody in Malaysia give a shit about it.
@theKribow Not Malaysia, Not Indonesia, but it belongs to the whole Malay nation which constitutes the old Champa, Langkasuka, Sulu, nowadays Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei.
And please stop thinking in the crippling Indonesian mindset that Malays are those in East Sumatra. Javanese, Sundanese, Minangs, Acehnese, Baweans, Banjars, all are Malays.
There were no Indonesia nor Malaysia 100 years ago. All there were was the Archipelago known as Kepulauan Tanah Melayu.
@6:20 the translator translated it wrongly..what the guru actually trying to say is "during war, they will add more poison on the edges of the blade..so that even with a little slash the enemy will go down in 2 seconds"
The indonesian guy who interchanged blows on the chest protector with Jason looked angry; he delivered more hammer fists rather than straight chain punches, a matter of personality I guess.
So far from what I've seen this version of Silat that borrows from Wing Chun is the only one that could be effective but you might as well take Wing Chun. That poison knife is something else but as a striking style I am not impressed.
u retard that is a wrong fact.the chinese traders came to malacca and practised kung fu.they were influenced and decided to exchange knowledge of their own culture's martial art
@codenamevengeance I think they messed up the translation. According to Indonesian people i have spoken, the Kris is said to be possessed by a spirit. When you stab someone with the Kris, his spirit gets trapped inside too and so the weapon is cursed. A Kris made for battle had the powers of many angry spirits which was supposed to make it extra deadly.
they'er mkaing the form seem a lo0t gayer than it is, they make it seem like you do this with this part of your arm and then this with thie part. but its less complicated than that. your just rolling your arms
The kris dagger is poisonous. I grew up with one in the house. It's not quite as poisonous as he says, but it will kill the bejeezus out of you if you take too many nicks with it.
conclusion is... malay silat from malaysia, indon silat is from indonesia and so on.. silat not so popular because all pesilat like me is told by their guru not to show off their skills because it is just for protecting... not like TKD, kung fu or capoeira want to show how strong their are by show it during film... unfortunately, muay thai also began to show off... huhu.. fellow martial arts of asian..
well, i think that the part 1 of this chapter explains that, or i see it in Figth Quest, but the silat is hybrid because Malasya was a geo-estrategic ponit for different wars, and was occopied by japan, and china, then the natives learn and mix the diferent martial arts from each country, with a very good malasian touch. . . i love silat
@tharguyoverthere16 Wing Chun is an influence on some of the styles. Silat is a very general term, like how Kung Fu is a general term for Chinese Martial Arts, Silat is a general term for styles from Indonesia, Java, and a few other countries in the region.
Malay (Malacca) empire have good relation with others bigger empire like china, turks, india and etc.Malay sultan always sent their warrior to other empire for training, no wonder some silat has similar move to kungfu and other martial arts..
the blade actually isnt deadily so to speak. during the end stages of making the knife it is dipped in arsenic and lime juice. a scratch of arsenic wont nessicarily kill you in minutes. thats for sure. youd die from tetanus before arsenic poisoning
They cant use this in MMA, people will die... Like 90% of silat is agenst the rules lol Theres a big difference between ring and street fighting martial arts.
