  • I'm a man of many trades and like to do things myself, but remote start alarms is not something I will attempt. I know can do it, but I also know it would take a couple of days and I would run into all kinds of trouble with no easy answer. Better to save myself from all of the stress and let someone that does it for a living do it. I just had a viper 5901 with remote start installed.

  • @billybassman21 Yeah, I am the same way. I can do lots of things. But there are jobs a guy should just not waste his nerves on. Like you said, we can probably do it, figure it out over time....but is it worth it? :D Thanks for the comment mate.

  • how come you are never going to sell it? did you buy it brand new?

  • @colorado1516 My Mini Van is build in 2003 and I bought it used in 2008 for $18000 (which was expensive, long story to that). I put roughly 60000 kms on it and I have put in roughly $3000 dollar in repair and tune up (incl wheels). It is paid off and I know the thing inside out. Spending money to maintain is cheaper, than buying something new just to put me into debt. Selling something that you already own and know is stupid imho. New cars suck...they're build flimsy (most).

  • What's the app calked

  • @matthewegordy What app?

  • I got a headache..

  • @mightyjoe911 Been there myself....

  • some people dont clean there nails

  • Hi I can only watch 3.15 min of video and then it freezes any ideas please?

  • @mehredod uhh, nothing wrong with the video. Something must be happening to either your browser or plugin.

  • @mehredod just get a life!

  • @SuperBlobsterMan I steal nothing, since I am not doing this for a living nor offer my expertise to others for money. I have done this to my own vehicle. There is no need to get excited, as long as you guys do your job well and offer customer service. Look through the comments, there are more ppl that wont bother with such an install than ppl that will do it themselves.

  • @oBseSsIoNPC Dont listen to all these jagoffs,,let haters hate thats what they do

  • What an awesome video. I agree with you about the cheap crimpers. I recently installed a trailer brake controller in my pickup and I used them. I'm seriously thinking about taking it out and soldering the connections. I really don't want to have to worry about my $35K pickup burning to the ground because I used $3.99 harbor freight crimpers. Thanks again for the video!

  • I'll do it the sloppy way

  • 3:06 agree piece of shit lol. ill use a razor blade before using those

  • i'm a professional...... in case you fuck something up

  • @GameSupervision Hehe, thanks. Working fine so far. Just tried it yesterday, before winter comes.

  • were do find wiring diagrams online

  • @dazsherin I have registered at and utilized: alldatadiy[dot]com

It is worth having access to not just a single wiring diagram but the whole "how to repair your car" library.

Takes the effort away looking for free diagrams that are not even correct. Waste of time, at least for me :P

  • i want your garage. thanks. (:

  • @Howtoanything Haha, no kidding, who wouldn't want the space? :D

  • language sir

  • PIMP NAILS

  • Can i install this in my 1970 mustang? and 73 vw beetle?

  • Is there another name for the piercing probe?

  • @wwarsin not that I am aware of

  • @wwarsin my cock

  • where do u get ur wiring diagrams?

  • @Mustured10000 Alldatadiy[dot]com

  • @oBseSsIoNPC thx bro much apretiated

  • can we follow your video with any kind of car? or are the wire's different in every car so we have to find a wiring diagram and do it with out your help from the video? (sorry this question is probably confusing)

  • @highcomplexlee Not a confusing question at all. The point I am trying to make with the video is, that an install is not THAT easy and requires serious preparation. It shows a rough frame of things you will need to do with EVERY car. Nevertheless, the video does not show the EXACT install for EVERY car. You are right, the wiring will be different and the anti theft systems are the biggest difference in the various cars. So yes, do some research for the modules and wiring that you will need.

  • U got some dirty ass nails but other than that good video

  • Comment removed

  • in install car alarms y do u run a battery wire cant u tap in to as main power at the fuse box in new zealand our alarms are all black wiring with 2 or more imoblizers and we have to imobilize fuel and start or a engine control wire of a sort off the fuse box and wen i solder it looks better than yours i strip the wire fold the other wire over it heat the wire then solder comes out smooth as a babys ass lol and do u not tape the loom to your module

  • @2212kyle Hehe, I think most "electricians" solder way better than I do. I have soldered exactly 5 times before this install and so far I received a lot of great tips on how to do it neater, so I appreciate the comments!

Sounds time consuming, having to find the wires and run more immobilizer modules :O

  • @oBseSsIoNPC The imobilizer relays are on board of the alarm and what i do to find good engine imobilizers is find a engine or ecu fuse in fuse box and pul it out if it kills the car i find what wire turns on and off with the fuse being pulled in and out put fuse back start it up and chop the wire car will stall or keep running in new zealand our alarms also automaticly imobilize the engine 30 seconds after turning the key off we have high theft lol but if you want i could send you one to instl

  • @2212kyle That sounds interesting, it is just, that I was told the ecu has to allow the relay to function to begin with. So if you were to remove anything, it wont enable the injectors either. All within the ECU. But if you have anything that applies to my mini van, go ahead and send me something. I will have a look at it.

  • @2212kyle We have imobilizers here in the states too. If you don't have the right key the car will start and run for about two seconds then shut off. If you do it too many times it locks you out and you need to have the car towed to the dealer. Both of my vehicles have this. I think it's a good idea. At least it requires the thieves to get smarter. Or use a tow truck.

  • i have a alarm install and my question is the following how can i make my trunk to open with alarm and how can the light to blink when i press open?my car when i bough it it came like that but im sure the person that had it before me did something to it ?????

  • @ggpucky21 Well, the first thing you would need to do is find out what remote system you have (the brand) and then you can get the manual for it (if you don't have it) Inside will be a bunch of options you can select to make the things work the way you want them. If the system has been installed professionally, there should be no complications and everything should be hooked up, if the previous owner didn't cheap out :P

  • thanks. cool and useful video. I started out as a complete nub to electricity, but managed to wire few SPY alarm, on my car, and 2 on motorcycles. Really is fun to do. All managed to do it by searching wire diagram and workshopmanuals for the bike/car.

How many watt is that soldering gun you use? I tried to solder the most important wires of my bike but couldn't get it hot enough with 25W. So now just twisted them together and put some heatshrink tube on it. I know asking for problems

  • @MrJelle2503 Thanks you for the positive response to my video :) Yeah, I know the problem, 25 watts is for circuit boards, essentially. The gun I use is hot in 10-15 seconds and has 260 watts. It's the Weller D550pk. All the higher wattage means, it heats up faster, holds the high heat much better and does not cool off as fast as a low wattage gun when actually soldering away. Plus you can solder some thicker cables ofcourse.

  • @oBseSsIoNPC cool. I kinda figured I needed something hotter to work on my wires. Wish I'd be as pro as you are, I like the way you work and I really am into electronics. My top moment is having soldered in a cygnosv2 in an 360 with hardly any experience or the tools to do so, and having it actually work. Same for my alarm installs. =)

I use that cheap POS plyer for gods sake :(

btw can you see my channel?

  • @MrJelle2503 Hehe, I am spoiled with great tools, being a good technician will do that to you :P

    Thanks again for the compliment.

I must agree with you, getting something accomplished that you have never done before and make it work on top of that is a great feeling.

Which is why I am a technician and not a politician :D

    Cheers!

  • dirty nails lol

  • Where can I get one of this kits???

  • @flamingchedderpuff Canadian tire sells ProStart. Other kits are available at any car audio or car dealer ship. Even some electronic stores have them, even install them.

  • will a remote starter for Fuek injection work with a truck that has Central Sequential fuel injection?

  • from where i get the wireing digram when i install remont starter for some cars .

wich one is good the remont startar and what you use with bypass module

pleas help me and if you can give me your Email adrees and we well help

    for contact me on ADL363@yahoo.com

  • @alanbaki100 I apologize, but it is hard to make out what exactly you want to know. A good remote start system is the one I am using, I like ProStart for being well priced, reliable (so far) and good instructions. The bypass module depends on the anti theft system of your car. Such as, PATS, VATS etc. Look for your car and find out what immobilizer you need. The remote start module you can pick what ever you want, some go along with a special immobilizer tho.

  • oh man. in that particular van, it needs a relay for the parking lights. i hate relays man. and i think it needs a resistor for a bypass. ew.

  • u installed it da HARD way! all them tools wasnt necessary

  • @supadem You call it the hard way, others call it properly and lasting. If you want to use the fast crimp connectors, go ahead. Also, yes I could have gotten the idatalink bypass module and use the 4 wire plug instead of wiring all the other stuff. But money and effort just did not convince me. Just DO NOT SAY: "them tools were not necessary." Everybody does the install differently... .

  • Use a "j-hook" technique to solder wire together my friend. You make a hook on the ends of each wire you want to solder together, "hook" them together and then lightly close the hooks to secure. Then you solder. You get a great mechanical bond and the wires won't move when you solder them ensuring a good joint. Use a no-clean solder as well as water soluble and rosin flux is corrosive and once it gets under the wire insulation, you're screwed.

  • @wav3form Hey thanks man!

I really appreciate that advice and I will apply it as soon as I get to solder something again! :D

  • Dude what sites do you get your wireing diagams from

  • @ielwood AllDataDIY[dot]com, you have to pay and register, but you get a lot for 20 bucks. Mainly the great feeling of safety, when you mess around with wiring ;)

  • Nice tool box man. Love snap-on.

  • @MrAks10 Thx :D Snap-On ftw!

  • Great video!

  • @Joeanglers Sweet thanks man! Best wishes!

  • best fucking video ever man fucking proper!!!!!

  • @zogi12345 Oh?! Well thanks man, you are the first to put it that way :P

Really appreciate it, you may be happy to hear I will update the "2nd Part" soon.

Hoping to add some more valuable information, rather than how to solder....

    Check back if you like.

    Take care!

  • I see you use heat shrink connectors

Here is a great place to get them for the best prices I have seen and they are 3m

around 20 bucks for a hundred 3m heat shrink connectors.

    connectorsupply

    dot

    com

  • @connectorsupply advertising eh? I should check it out, we need lots of heatshrink tube. Thanks mate :)

  • Man am glad i saw this I was thinking of doing it my self, Ill let the pros do it..

  • @marcogerra YAY! The first of the responses I was hoping for ever since I made this vid :P

I am so happy that the reason I made this video for has been found by someone.

It is a serious install alright and I still make it look easy in the video.

  • Hello, what is that red tool you were demonstrating at 3:35 in the video called?

  • @duy82 That is called a piercing probe and can be found at Snap-on tools or electrician outfits. I suggest not to go cheap on it, because you need a good needle and a solid plastic. Go cheap and you may find you don't get connections established, not because there are none, but because the tool is crap.

  • hey i got a question.. i just got my car from this shop that installes remote starters.. the guy was able to program the keyless but he wasn't able to program the starters. he said he tripled checked the wiring but it just couldn't work. do u have any idea what could be the problem. By the way the car is a ford focus 2000.

  • @tekhle1 Well, a friend of mine, I helped putting in a remote starter and we had to get him a new bypass module. The one we got (unused) and then programmed, did not work. Although it was supposed to. It was a reprogrammable one for the make and model and the year, but we could not get it to work either. I thought I did wrong on the wiring myself. So we got a one time programmable bypass module, programmed it, voila, it worked. Some of the modules seem to be faulty, not work for all models...

  • @oBseSsIoNPC just like u said the guy told me he triple checked the wiring but ur saying the problem could be from the bypass module?? should i get a new module or how do i know what module works for my car?? thanks for the help by the way!!

  • @tekhle1 just google for a bypass module for your car, type, model and year, then check and see if it is promoted by others. I ended up with Cryslers very own, 1 time programmable module for my van and a multi programmable from an installer dude for my friends car. Not sure what other advice I could give ya. Good luck tho, let me know how you make out!

(trying a different brand of bypass module increases chances to make this work)

  • Hy nice job yo don .nice video .but i must ask you somting .that is a HP g5002ea PC yo hawe there ?? i think so .haw do yo put Xp on it i hawe one and whas whit VISTA but i kan put the Xp on it , and i do not use it for a half year.pls hellp if you nos somting . tanks

  • @yonutztuning Hey thx man, well the laptop is my "rough terrain lappy" :P

It is old and slow and I usually dont use it anymore. BUT yes it is windows XP OS.

Simply get a windows xp dvd, go into BIOS (the very first screen at boot up), hit DEL and go into boot priorities. Select the DVD drive as primary. Restart with the Windows DVD in the drive, follow the menu. Make sure you (detail) format the HD. This will speed up the lappy a lot.

    Good luck :)

  • I thnk i have this already on my truck when i bought it but I didnt know about it and it didnt have a remote but it has the box and the relay under the dash makes my gauges twitch and eventually runs the battery down overnight unless i take it out. Does anybody know what this could be or how i could fix it. Thanks

  • @brake4brunettes It makes your gauges twitch? Hmm, there is 2 possibilities here, that I have personally run into before. 1) the acc relay is stuck and holds the coil into on position, even if sticky it will drain the battery. 2) the wiring has been done wrong, and battery (constant) power was used, instead of a switched power.

To see IF THE REMOTE STARTER is even the problem, see if you can find a powerdrain on the car (amptester) unplug one fuse after another and locate the drain.

  • Once you pull the fuses, the amperage should drop sometime. When that happens, you look up the fuse you just pulled and see what it is for.

Connect the AMP-meter in series to the battery ground as follows: Take the leads of the ampmeter and connect one to the ground cable, the other sneak on the the (-) batt terminal, turn the key on for 2 secs, turn off (DO NOT START) remove the (-) batt cable, watch the amp meter. you should have less than 0.3A for sure, the lesser the better.

  • Dude-great video !! your really good. Thanks

  • @alienjoe216 Hey thank you mate :) According to the other comments, I better make another VID, with more info I guess :P

    Glad you liked it

  • hey, i don't really see the point in getting this?

why would i need a remote if im in the car ready to drive?

is there some sort of advantage ?

  • @yourmother2161 in Australia you certainly wouldn't need this, but here in Canada and other VERY cold regions, it is pretty much a must. You remote start the vehicle in the cold so engine, steering and transmission have time to heat up before driving. Plus the vehicle is thawed out when you get into it. If you were to just drive, things will break and driving is everything but a joy, we can have down to -55 degree CELSIUS, the tires turn into a brick at -30 and steering wheels break at -50 :)

  • @oBseSsIoNPC ahh yes. that makes sense.

    thankyou for explaining :)

i guess i will not need it.

  • never disconnect the battery.. new cars youre just asking for trouble.

  • kan u use a emote start on a carborated engine? i got a 85 caprice

  • @hipsgotass If your car is a good starter, yes. But the problem I see with the carburetor is the choke and cold start. I guess most cars have an auto choke/cold start by engine temperature. But sometimes it is necessary to pump the gas paddle, right? Well a remote start cannot do that for you, so in the worst case, it would try cranking the engine for the preset 3-5 attempts and then abort the start.

  • So you park on a hill, put the car in gear, use remote start, the car jumps and stalls!

  • @Zeamus634 Um ...no, there is a mode on every remote starter that prevents the engine from starting while in gear. You have to hook up the neutral switch of the transmission to the remote start, once in gear, nothing will happen when you push the key....of course you need to install this properly in the first place.

  • I have the same ones piece of shit wire cutters! i hate them they're a bunch of crap molded together.

  • @gregp05 Hehe, yeah, I guess that is why they supply them in "kits" mostly, because they are too shitty to sell them by themself. They must have figured, they are good enough for the "once a year" electrician :P

  • Whats that multi-meter prob called that taps the wire cleanly?

  • @tomandrews1 They are commonly known as insulation piercing probes/leads

When you google "insulation piercing probes" you will see there are quite a few different kinds. I suggest to look, touch and try a pair before purchase. Some of them have crappy plastic a blunt needle or just break apart by looking at them. Them snap-on ones I am using are o.k., but there are better ones yet.

  • pretty good videa it gives me a good idea of how to do this.....but you didn't take us through the whole entire process...anyways good job thanks

  • @evilsin13 Thanks for the compliment mate!

I am sorry that I did not show you every step, but that has a couple reasons.

First, I don't want to be held responsible for any damages that some 1 does to his car and then referring to my video, blaming me.

Second, the entire process took too long, to make a tutorial.

Third, too many variations in vehicles concerning brand or even just year, convinced me that a detailed tutorial is a bad idea and a waste of time as in yours and mine.

  • The main reason I posted these 3 vids was, to show how much work this install is, and that it is not a childs play.

I wanted to inspire ppl that think they can do it.

I wanted to make sure not to show too many details, so that you HAVE TO read up on what you are doing, instead of using my video as an installation guide.

I hope you understand and thanks again for watching, and if you try to install a remote start, good luck mate!
