Well, it is well worth doing as no one else has any of this, certainly not ITN. I would be very interested in buying a copy when you have completed the work. Is there any more of the 8mm footage or just sound?
The 8mm is all I have and could be much better if a frame by frame copy was made. I am currently working on the sound track which is on the old reel to reel tape. I have improved the sound quality and now have amost an hour, again the ITN's version. At one stage I can almost get lip sync with the 8mm. Most of the sound is of NASA but quite often the studio voices add comments. Thanks for your interest. David
This is sensational stuff. I have never seen any moments at all recorded of ITN's coverage that night (which I watched aged 11). Have you found any more? I would like to contribute financially if you were to find enough for a professional compilation.

Many thank for your offer I will keep that in mind. Just now I am a wondering about the implications of copyright etc.

Im an actual archive Sound Engineer
could do wonders with that sound, and could show you how to get a better transfer, its a wee bit 'off'!
