Spain deserved the win, but it looked like that touch was offsides to me, just barely, but the refs are supposed to give it the strikers way when it's that close. Either way Spain had the better scoring chances and controlled the game, Portugal would of been lucky to sneak a goal in and somehow win. Queiroz killed Portugal´ hopes of beating Spain since the beginning. He put a centre back playing in the right (Ricardo Costa) and a player that hadnt yet played a single minute in 2010 due to a serious injury (Pepe) in the starting eleven, plus the ultra defensive tactics he devised for the game. It was like the prevoius game against Brazil, where Portugal HAD to win to avoid Spain. He completely changed the line-up that had smashed N.Korea (and were highly motivated) and went over-defensive.
Portugal were unlucky, they gave spain the best match of the WC. I wish Cristiano buried that freekick, that would have pissed on Villa's face. Spain won the WC by winning 1-0 and maximum 2-0 against the shit teams. They score 1 goal and then pass and pass and pass. Boring. @NDesertFoxN Shots and chances are two different things. Portugal's chances were legitimate chances where they were inches away from scoring. Spain's chances were long range shots that Eduardo cleared away with ease. The only actual chance Spain had other than the goal came from Llorente a few minutes after he was subbed on for Torres.

It was known that Spain had a shaky group phase and hadnt yet build any significant dominance to be labeled favourite to win the WC. You can see that Portugal had some good chances to score, despite having completely handled over the initiative to Spain. Portugal should have started with a more offensive line-up, because Spain had/has its weaknesses. Especially its defence.

Queiroz killed Portugal´ hopes of beating Spain since the beginning. He put a centre back playing in the right (Ricardo Costa) and a player that hadnt yet played a single minute in 2010 due to a serious injury (Pepe) in the starting eleven, plus the ultra defensive tactics he devised for the game. It was like the prevoius game against Brazil, where Portugal HAD to win to avoid Spain. He completely changed the line-up that had smashed N.Korea (and were highly motivated) and went over-defensive.

Portugal were unlucky, they gave spain the best match of the WC. I wish Cristiano buried that freekick, that would have pissed on Villa's face. Spain won the WC by winning 1-0 and maximum 2-0 against the shit teams. They score 1 goal and then pass and pass and pass. Boring. I wish Brazil and Kaka were on top form, Spains Tika taka would've got Joga bonito'd back to Seville

@KiidMoe Dude, it is impossible to tell that it was offside from the camera angle at 2:53. If you REALLY are serious about proving that it is offside then try and prove it with the replay of the goal that starts at 3:10. That replay is perfectly placed to judge if it is offside or not. If you are honest with yourself you'll realize that AT NO POINT is Villa offside: not when Iniesta passed to Xavi and not when Xavi backheels to Villa (he was perfectly in line with Pepe, the far side defender)

To the morons saying it was offside, pause it at 3:15. At the moment Xavi flicks it on (3:15) Villa is exactly leveled with Pepe (the far side defender). Get your eyes examined if you don't see that. Stop moaning and get over it, let this legitimate and beautiful goal be a motivation for the Portuguese next time they face Spain in a real competition. Will it motivate them not to choke again?
