Why violinists play always this encore, instead of so many other movements of the Bach Sonatas and Partitas? Can any violinist explain this? WHY only THIS particular Sarabande. And dont tell me that it is the most beautiful because that is not true. It is probably because they dont think of options and just play what everybody plays?
Anyway, nobody should ever play this piece after Kavakos did. Unless someone have something else to say about it.
@Kapputschino12 perhaps not because it is the most beautiful, (nobody can say it is the most beautiful but nobody should also say it is not because this is subject to personal taste), but perhaps because it is one of the most popular... when playing an encore, it is better to play something that people can relate to... as you know, not all the parts of all the Partitas and Sonatas are that popular... few are truly known to so many people the Sarabande in D as one example
I would never have been able to sit in the audience while she played this, ...because my shuttering emotional weeping would have upset the entire ambience. Staggeringly beautiful.
I agree with "BlackViolinist" this interpretation and performance is "ridiculously clean". Yet so exquisitely beautiful in it's austerity. No one can say what a "correct" interpretation is, but to my ear this is as close to perfect as I've heard. Love it! Bravo!
OMG!!! THIS IS GREAT!!!! LOVE IT!!! but if u wanna hear violin to the max, then u should check out this gruop called the baroque boyz and there first song called turn-around!!!!!
To me a bit old-fashioned and have given up to play Bach / Baroque on these "trumpets", once nice decent baroque instruments now just noisy at 443 Hz. Everybody who played for a while on 415 Hz feels a completely different instrument - a violin which really copies the human voice and that was what it was made for.
On touche au sublime avec cette interprétation! Et qu'il est beau de voir, derrière Julia Fischer, les musiciens de l'orchestre n'être plus qu'émerveillement et recueillement devant ce miracle d'évidence. Admirable!
She is fantastic either on violin or piano but I prefer violin.

About this version, a sarabande is a DANCE.

Virtuosité, sensibilité, perfection.
