Crespo is one of the most expensive and talented strikers of our generation. Luis Fabiano is unproven on the biggest stage and is at an average club. Rooney is not an out and out striker. David Villa is also like Fabiano in that he needs to move to a bigger club to establish himself further as a world class striker.

I didn't say European title, I said a title in Europe by which I mean a domestic league: Premiership, La Liga, Serie A... you know.

I'm not discrediting his great achievements with his other clubs, the UEFA with Parma in 99 (his goal against Marseille was amazing) and the Italian Super Cup with Lazio etc. Fair enough they are prestigious honours

But it was well known that he wanted to win a major league title very badly and when he achieved that with Chelsea it meant an awful lot to him.
