One day, I hope to see some GENIUS awarded the Nobel prize for defeating Alzheimers. It is such a cruel disease. From the depths of my soul I send anyone and their families love and support. And hope that one day it, like small pox will be a thing of the past.
This is why I wrote A very Merry Christmas 2010, sometimes we feel so helpless just watching as our loved ones fade away with their (our) memories like my father in law and uncle. Yet with both men the one thing they loved was music from Queen to brass bands the whole spectrum of sound music unites us all and I know they are never far away. We each have our own experiences our memories of our lives together, so to one and all remember the good times Christmas is a time of love and good cheer.
I hate alzheimer's disease! :/ It took the life of my great grandmother in 2000 at I think 92 and now my grandfather has it and it sucks cause he was my father figure casue my dad was never part of my life going up... :( and my grandmother cries about it cause they have been together all their life! since he was 18 and my grandmother is a very strong woman. It's so weird though cause everything was fine right before thanksgiving and after my grandma got cancer and my grandpa got alzheimer's..
My mom was diagnosed yesterday with this disease, she is 59 and i'm 18, maybe you guys can understand how painful and difficult it is for me, i would like if you contact me just to get some information. I love my mom, and i'm willing to do anything for her but i just keep thinking how unfair this is and although i could see it coming the news shocked me. i'm going to the doctor's appointment today and she isn't coming because the doctor says is better this way... thank you
Im struck by the strength of that womans personality and spirit. Her understanding so intelligent and clear. She also looks so much younger than her years.Like a woman who looked after her wellbeing and considered that of others too.
my grandma has had Alzheimer's for 16 years now. It sucks. I just got a tattoo for Alzheimer's Awareness. I volunteer at my local Alzheimer's Association.
oh my goodness. 16 years? that seems extremely unusual. this is the cruelest disease ever. my grandma has had it for about 4 years now, but 16... i can't imagine what it must be like for you
My Dad got Alzheimers in his late 40's early 50's. He passed last month. It was so hard to see him lose communication, the ability to walk and care for himself. At times he would still cry when certain songs or people were around and we knew he was there then. He always seemed to respond to my Mom.....even though they divorced 30 years ago. He still loved her to the end and her voice and face he remembered.
