  • i did it with foundation powder, it turned yellow, clumped and cakey.. lol

  • I just realized that the powder in the video is the Makeup Forever HD microfinish powder. So any loose translucent finishing powder will work.

  • were can i get setting spray?????

  • What exactly is this plain clear powder? Thanks!

  • hey can you (or anyone reading this) recommend a good translucent powder and possibly an affordable setting spray ?

  • youre the best make up guru!

  • Hey! How come nobody ever told me this stuff? haha Great tips! I have to tell Mom she skipped this part! :)

  • Were you in the Lonely Island music video for Boombox? There's a dude in it that looks just like you :)

  • what kind and where do u get the invisible powder? i have never heard of that.... also where do u get a mascara gaurd? thanx btw i love your channel.... you have taught me soooooo much..... also i recently bought some drug store products and i know you dont work with them but i got this 24 hour color tattoo eyeshadow eyeshadow by mabeline and its a gel formula... they come in several bright shades and it seems like when i use them as a base with or without shadow primer it looks splotchy help!

  • whats the difference between waterproof and 24 hour mascara?

  • @giannadoll Just the wording. Both are waterproof. If you're talking about the Cover Girl Lash Blast 24hr mascara....good luck getting it off your lashes at the end of the day :)

  • The tip about putting on the bottom mascara first has changed my life. My lids are slightly hooded plus my lashes are very curly. I used to just accept mascara dots as. Part of life. Thank you. Thank you.

  • You explain your videos perfectly. I find it a lot easier to understand than the rest of the other make-up artist's videos. Thank you, and good job! :) xo

  • Great tip! Never thought of that.

  • I love love love your videos! They're so informative and you're very friendly :) thank you for the tips and tricks :D

  • when you started talking about putting mascara on the top of the top lashes.. i was like THANK YOU !!!!!!!! omg HUGE pet peeve of mine !!

  • i love your voice..... love u

  • @EnKoreMakeup hey Koren, I am just starting my mac brush collection and am keen to seal in the logos on the brushes! I was just wundering how often you have to repeat your method of sealing in the brush logo and the maintenance of your method. Please respond thanks 😃 ps luvyhuur videos

  • So informative! So glad I came across this video!, such useful tips!!! -3

  • Thanks for the tips!I've never applied mascara to the top part of my top lashes (if that makes sense),but now I definitely will!

  • dont listen to rude comments! you know what you are talking about and just because you dont use this trick every time dosnt mean it wont be usfull to sombody! THANKYOU!

  • can i use black eye shadow powder to set my masacra?

  • @mividaloca93olive He said @3:50 you can but it tends to cause more fallout.

  • Comment removed

  • KORen, ur lashes r a nice length I wouldn't worry bout falsies

  • Great tips(:

  • Oh gosh I hate when eyeshadow is on top lashes and I am like AHHH people look at how silly your eyes look! So easy to fix with a lil bit of top mascara.

  • Very nice idea! I won't use it on my everyday makeup, bu it wil help a lot with paty makeup.

  • could i use a black eyeshadow?

  • I dont think ive seen you set your own lashes in your tutorials

  • You`re amazing!! Ignore any comments that say otherwise. I love your videos along with thousands of other people. Those that are leaving ignorant, unnecessary and incredibly offensive comments such as jakeTsnake100 are simply jealous because you are absolutely fabulous. `=)

  • where can you get a mascara card at!?

  • OMG fallout on lashes, thats my pet peeve too! Its like eyelash dandruff! lol girl clean that up! :p

  • You have really pretty eyelashes Koren!

  • where did you get that pink tool??? this vid was great!

  • My mascara ALWAYS smudges during school and it's gets so annoying, so I tried this this morning and IT WORKED WONDERS!!! My mascara didn't smudge at all! Thanks so much Koren!!! :D

  • thanks that's really helpful :)

  • great tips thanks koren :o)

  • bottom lashes first.... you're a fucking genius, koren! XD

  • @AussieDonna50 why the ALL the ATTITUDE? U don't have to adhere PEACE

  • Very informative video I must get some setting powder great TIPS

  • I tried this. It really helped no smudges at all even after 12 hours. Thanks

  • I don't have any lower lashes. :-( Though I tried on this $1 mascara i got and it did extremely well for me. Thanks Koren!

  • I like the tip of the month. I worry though about the powder getting in my eyes. I'm a contact wearer. When any little thing gets in my eyes it feels like little rocks.

  • Can you use translucent powder?

  • You're awesome! Although, if I applied powder on the top part of my lashes after applying mascara, the lashes would just lose the lift, even if I waited for the mascara to dry. So I kind of want to leave the lashes alone after applying mascara..

  • Thank you so much for sharing! So obvious yet I had never given it a thought!

  • Is there a substitute for invisible powder? :o

  • Maybe no one sets mascaras because its not a huge issue

  • Great video! Now I will definitely start setting my mascara!

  • Love your videos! Im so glad I subbed you! =). Hope you can stop by my channel too!

  • Lmao @ your disclaimer XD

    Oh we love you, koren.

  • my lashes are so long that it is really difficult not to get mascara everywhere - I will try this though!

  • Kay I'm one of those girls who doesn't set her mascara! But thanks for the educational tip and I will definitely try this when I'm applying my makeup.

  • I find myself saying "blend blend blend" out loud a lot...... :))

  • Why the assumption that "everyone" does the wrong thing"? I have been applying mascara to the bottom lashes for 35 years & obviously it works for me but for others who prefer to apply mascara to the top lashes first may work for them.

There are no hard & fast rules that MUST be obeyed. People should do whatever they are comfortable with & continue to do what works for them without being told they are doing the "wrong thing".

  • Which clear powder do you use in this video?

  • mascara gaurd??? Brilliant, never knew they existed and I need one. would a black powder work to set the mascara or do you think it would fall and land on skin??? thanks, luv u and ur eye colour is amazing!!

  • Please check out my tutorials!!!!

  • this has nothing to do with mascaras but what do you think about BB creams?..what is their purpose??

  • I've tried so many mascaras and I always get racoon eyes thanks so much for this tip!

  • genius! <3

  • Never thought of setting mascara. Thank you so much for sharing this tip!! Love your videos!!

  • Great tip :) can regular mascaras be waterproofed? sorry if this is a silly question.

  • @beautynscience2010 No, they can't, unless you put a coat or two of waterproof mascara on top, but that certainly defeats the purpose. D;

  • Great video!! I have hooded eyes so I tend to get a lot of smearing and flaking :/ Thanks for the tips!

  • Uaauuuuuuuuuuu!!show, Koren!!! Thank's

  • Geez. I never even thought to do my bottom lashes first. I have very curly lashes and usually wind up with mascara dots. Thank you so much.

  • Wow. Thanks!

  • I know u said clear powder but do u recommend a brand? I've never heard of a clear powder other then like powder for setting makeup....is it the same or different? I love ur idea of doing the bottom lashes 1st.And last I love the videos you post coz no matter what I always learn something new :)

  • Another great tip...thanks Koren...:)

  • there are 393 likes on the video & only 302 views? the figures aren't stacking up! I recall you spoke once abt viewership figures being unusually low -- this is proof tt something's not right? btw you're extraordinary, Enkore! now let's have more of Enkorrine too! :) keep it up you're great:)

  • My lower lashes are so long if I do them first I get dots on my checks, my top ones are also long so if I do them first I get dots on the top of my lids.... but I'll take long lashes and the dots.

  • Make it stay put? Yeah and make your dark black lashes into a brown from all the translucent powder! No thanks. :/

  • you are amazing xx

  • you are amazing, xx

  • I love you koren

  • your tips is always so helpful...

  • Never even thought that you would need to set mascara? lol This is what separates true artists like yourself vs "gurus" Great video!! Thank you!

  • thank you for the tip! I am so paranoid about checking my make up at work because of raccoon eyes. I try not to wear waterproof because of my sensitive eyes and I dislike removing it... :)

  • What a fabulous tip! I've always had the problem of smudging mascara, especially due to the combination oily lids+non-waterproof formulas (because of my sensitive eyes). I am eager to try this out tomorrow. Thank you sooo much!

  • But.... Mascara dries and kinda hardens..

  • @UndergroundMakeup Mascara, just like eyeshadow, are sometimes prone to fallouts. These fallouts can lead to smudging, therefore leading to the raccoon eyes. Koren is trying to help us prevent the whole raccoon look.

  • you are my makeup hero :)

  • I love the "bottom lash first" tip!!

  • The MAC Fan brush # 205 is a Mac Pro only brush, which means you can only get them at a MAC Pro store.

  • where we can get the lash guard, I learn so many nice thing about how to use the mascara.

  • You are amazing!!

  • Great tip, but I wonder if this is really necessary. I guess it depends on the type/brand of mascara because I've never had problems with my mascara smearing, flaking, raccoon eyes, etc.

  • @MommyReporter it also depends on your eye shape. people with hooded eyes or monolids have skin touching their lashes which is why that can happen. also people who have very watery eyes can have this problem. so it may not be necessary for you but im sure this helps them! you have to think of the bigger picture... not everyone is the same as you!

  • what is the mascara u used in the video? looks good.

  • Thank you for uploading this video Koren. Your expertise and tips are always appreciated. :)

  • when are you going to came to Boston MA?

  • @janepair Yes it's discontinued. It's a Mac #205 I got mine at my local Cosmetics Company Outlet but if that's not available 2 u try Makeup Alley online & click swap & enter Mac 205. U could swap someone 4 it by purchasing what they would swap it 4 or swapping with what you may have or what I do is offer to just pay for it which so far people have been reasonable w/ prices. I'd b careful w ebay since it may b fake or people over charge 2 make a sick profit. If u got ?'s let me know :)

  • Never knew you had to set mascara; thanks 4 sharing.

  • Do you do this when the mascara is already dry of when it is still a little wet? And do you recommend coating the top side of the top lashes first or the bottom side of the top lashes?

  • I tend to poke myself in the eye when I'm doing my mascara. Then I blink. Then I get mascara everywhere. Then I get frustrated lol.

  • thank you for sharing these wonderful video's , they are very helpul

  • What do you find to be the best invisible setting powder?

  • I cannot find that small fan brush anywhere. Is it a discountinued brush at mac?

  • Do to set the mascara when it's wet, tacky, or dry?

  • Thanxs Koren... such a simple thing so easy to discard! Definitely will be trying thing this technique!!! xoxoxo

  • Koren I have a question: What do you think of hair spray as a cheap alternative to the spray you used?

  • @Spyderschwinky i have friends who use this method but it feels gross!! also if you get sweaty itll be all sticky and what not. its probably not the best for your skin either :/ give it a try and see how it works for you! lol

  • hahahhahaha i love when you say "blend blend bleeeend"!

  • I have to try this. All mascara runs on me except the tubular ones. Right now using loreal double extend tubing mascara.

  • can i use an angled brush for the setting? also, do you have any tips and/or previous videos for bottom lash mascara application?

  • I hope to see you at IMATS Sydney this year!

  • Do the bottom lashes first.... LIGHT BULB!! So simple but makes such a difference!! Thanks Koren!

  • would this method be safe for contact wearers?

  • Awesome!

  • fix plus is not a setting spray!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you!!!!

  • Loved it.

  • where can i purchase clear setting powder?

  • You are a fantastic teacher! Thanks for the tips!

  • Your skin is looking good..

  • fix+ isn't setting spray, it's just water with a couple of vitamins and the like in it. spraying your lashes with fix+ isn't going to do anything but make them wet again and drop their curl. if you're looking for setting spray, try skindinavia - the one they made for urban decay is my fave :)

  • Koren your a doll, thank you for your expertise and time hunny xxlisaxx

  • Thanks for tip!!!

  • Thanks your so thorough

  • i used a mascara by ysl ,last year ,loved it,but i noticed tht on drying after a few hours .the mascara wud shed,as in ,its dusting wud b all over in the under eye area.so insuch a case wud it b advisable to set the mascara as it wil thn ,may be,shed even sooner.plz advise.

  • Great tip. Thx BTW where did u get that lash guard??

  • Soooooo excited to see you back on YT. Another awesome vid. Missed u so much. Luv ya! =)

  • Well damn! The more you know!!!

  • I think this is side-ist lol - what about the underside of the bottom lashes :P

  • I work outside and by the end of the day, my lashes are full of dirt and well...dirty looking. Do you know of a way to help keep dirt from sticking to lashes?

  • Koren I love love love your videos :-)))

  • What do you set spray with? Cream? Lol joke lang

  • i usually do my bottom lashes with a bottom mascara

  • Omg I always thought I was wrong when I would coat the top of the lashes!

  • Thank you for the tip! I always get bad racooning/smudging after a few hours... and I had never thought about setting my mascara!

And I've done my lower lashes first for years.. it truly does make a huge difference.. :)

  • Is it okay if I use a black eye shadow? I live in Australia, and I wouldn't know where to get translucent powder from :(

  • @izzybelleXD there's heaps of places to get translucent powder here, literally everywhere has it. Try 'nude by nature', it's expensive but it's great stuff!

  • @weenerZ93 thanks :) I also like izzybelleXD had no idea..cheers mate :D

  • I loooooooooooooooove your videos!! Keep up the great work!! & thanks for all of your advice!! :)

  • What's ur setting spray? And how much? thx xoxo

  • @EnKoreMakeup thank you :) I wasn't for sure if that was what it was or not.. :)

  • You are freaking the smartest makeup guru ever in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if i do the top of my lashes i feel like my lashes get heavy and aren't as curled :/

  • Great tips - thanks Koren! Like a previous poster indicated, I curl my lashes also and am disappointed with the mascara products out there for lashes to stay curled (many are too heavy or stay so wet they uncurl my lashes). I loved L'Oreal's Panoramic Curl (Waterproof) because my lashes kept their curl, but the company discontinued the product. Do you have any recommendations or tips on other brands for maintaining curled lashes?

  • Actually that's a really great tips

  • "No one paid to me make this video. Altho someone should LOL." Yes, yes they should. Your tips and tutorials are amazing =DD

  • Your videos are wonderful!! I use your brush cleaner recipe and love it..Thanks for all your tips...

  • Thanks :)

  • Omg I'm one f those people who do t wear makeup because even waterproof mascara runs on me! Why did GI think of this?! Thank u so much koren for the tip!!

  • koren i wanna be your student when it comes to make up heheheh...

  • I cant find ANY mascaras that do this for me!! :(

  • OMG u know like everything! Your videos are amazing, love them all!!! Question : How can i get very very very thick and full lash.s i would like it too look like I am wearing fake lash.s

  • I think it would be cool to set black mascara with a bright colour for a cool effect.

  • WOW! Super helpful! Thank you so much :D

  • Love your vids! Whenever I try to put mascara on the top of upper eyelashes, I seem to destroy/undo any sort of curling I have done (my lashes are very resistant to curling anyway). Any tips for that?

  • Great tip! I have very oily skin, and the only mascara that doesn't cause raccoon eyes (without setting) is Blinc. I'll definitely be trying this if I try an different one though!

  • I love your tips so much!!!!!!! I've been watching you for such a long time!!

  • it bothers me so much when I see people pumping their mascara wand into the tube! IM LIKE NOOOO! thats horrible!!! :)

  • hey koren i have a questionn.

was that mac fix+ in this video???

i just wanted to know if the fix+ is considered a setting product (and it would be great if it is because i actually have it muahaha)

  • @star123410 he has a video somewhere about setting sprays and stuff, and he said that Mac Fix+ is a refresher spray, not a setting spray because it doesn't break down and settle the pigment. Sorry! :)

  • @star123410 fix + will NOT make your makeup last all day. it great for using as wet eye shadow and to help take of the powdery look on your face. im sure there are another million ways to use it. but it just wont make ur makeup last all day. so ya i say it would be considered as one depending on how you use it,

  • @star123410 fix+ sets powder, but its not a finishing spray. I have a video on Fix+

  • @EnKoreMakeup thanks so much!

  • Do you wait for the mascara to dry or do you set it while its still wet?

  • @ivette818 set it after you finish applying mascara on both eyes, then you can set.

  • I always sneeze after applying mascara hahaha

and also after swimming with waterproof mascara i always get black smudges underneath my eyes and they never come out cause its waterrpoof.. how can I avoid this?

  • @LittleAngel072 if you're swimming, you will need to SEAL your mascara. Shelaq was great for this, but Benefit discontinued. So next best thing is Eve Pearl's Mix and Sealer.
