Honestly, life in prison sounds worse. Imagine having to live with that guilt for what you've done in for the rest of your life while confined to a cell in a hostile environment where you don't know if you will be beaten, raped, or, in some cases, murdered. I honestly believe that life in proson is a much more effective deterrent to crime. The death penalty is an easy out.
If there wasnt a death penalty, then criminals who have killed 1 person and a criminal that's killed 10 people will have the same sentance, and the same (small) chance of getting to the general public again.
@soad470ify Have you ever been in jail? Many people would rather die than to have to live that way. Do you actually believe that the system can accurately seperate the mentally ill from the sane? I got a little secret for you: THE SYSTEM IS A FAILURE! Life is not fair. Innocent people go to jail. God says we should forgive and have mercy if we expect to recieve it from him.
I think our entire criminal justice system needs to be reworked personally. But I don't think you should allow a convicted murderer to decide they want to kill themselves and go along with their decision. I think they need to live with what they've done for the rest of their lives just like the rest of us--but worse of course. They shouldn't be allowed to take the easy route out, they should realize that they need to change themselves. Maybe it's cuz I'm an atheist who doesn't believe in a hell?
I think and don't judge me for this. Ask the prisoner what they want... Put yourself in the situation... If you wanna die. DIE, if you wanna stay in prison stay in prison.. it's simple and would stop the arguments..
Personally, I think it depends on the method of death that you were to take. If I were to die by lethal injection, than I would be better off with 60 years in prison. With a lethal injection, moments after, you know that you're going to die; to leave this world in a heap of lifeless, rotting flesh with nothing. You can feel your body deteriorating. With a shot to the head, it's quick. Barely painful.
Execute them. I don't want my taxes paying for their warm bed, meals, and all the medical care they need. To many hard working honest people can't afford all that. For the record I live nead Corcoran Prison and know plently of COs that see these inmates get things handed to them that the COs and their familes can't afford. Inmates also get flu shots before my grandmother does. Something wrong there. Just execute them. Bullets are cheap.
@Karyn64 But the fallacy of that argument is that execution actually costs the public more than the punishment of life imprisonment due to the extensive legal proceedings necessary to go through with it.
@Alf90100 I agree but it's all politics. I think that if some is convicted and sentenced to death that exactly what they should get. Not sitting around for the next 20 years eating up tax dollars on appeals. Once convicted just executed them. I want to make it clear that I am only refering to convictions where DNA has proven without a doubt that the person is guilty.
@Karyn64 But how would you determine that the DNA evidence "proves without a doubt that the person is guilty?" That requires legal proceedings. Sentencing requires more legal proceedings. Would you rather kill an innocent man because it's too difficult or expensive to determine his guilt, or know exactly what's going on to the fullest extent possible in the decision to execute him?
@Alf90100 Im not saying skip a trial by any means and I am very well aware of the proceedings and costs. If DNA is found on a rape/murder victim you can say pretty much for sure that person is guilty. Execute them. I would rather see a guilty person go free than an innocent person sent to prison. That is just my opinion and it has nothing to do with costs. If a person is PROVEN guilty execute them. As I said...bullets are cheap.
@Karyn64 But DNA isn't as simple as they make it look on tv. If you've gone in public today, you are probably carrying the DNA of at least five other people on you right now. DNA evidence doesn't automatically prove you guilty. Sure, there's a high correlation, but it's not definite. Not to mention the fact that the lab techs are humans and can easily make mistakes just by incorrectly labelling vials.
And you say it has nothing to do with costs but by the next line you speak of it again, huh?
There was this one short story I read in class. It started on the basis of this question and which was more humane/inhumane and started at a dinner party. Everyone said life imprisonment was more inhumane, but there was one young lawyer who said that the death penalty was more inhumane. The host, a young banker, said to him that he'd bet him two million dollars to stay in prison for 5 years. The lawyer said that he'd do it, and do it for 15. I believe it's called "The Bet".
I think if you're a murderer, a rapist or a paedophile, then i think you should be thrown in a room in a straight jacket, force fed and kept alive against your will, unable to move or do anything, you'd rather be dead but you cant be, you have to sit there and wait.
People might call me sick for that, but sick people deserve sick punishments
@CatalyticShreds well the rapist and pedophile might deserve that what if the murder killed for a very good reason or killed a pedophile/rapist so do they still get the same punishment. i am not trying to justify it just in some cases it may be justified
@CatalyticShreds The human mind can only take so much abuse until it stop being what some might call human. Your idea is may seem conceptually good to you, but it is full of flaws, and possibly a violation of 'human rights'. Besides the person would only endure so much before their mind just shuts off.
I would rather have life in prison then death penalty because I would have the chance to help people while in jail. Like if I gave someone good advice and they then pass that advice to their family or a friend to help them or if I influence them to set positive goals and aim for them when they would get out of jail. This would make living in jail more worthwhile as opposed to dying.
No fucking death penalty, they have to suffer in jail. They can't go outside and they dont get much food but healthy but only Just the amount of food to keep them alive.
when one innocent person has been killed by death penalty due to wrongul imprisonment then that is a good enough reason to get rid of the death penalty
eye for an eye, you raped and killed a girl, your gunna get it to then be killed the same way, and we can get a diff murderer to do it for us. for extra blankets at night for his life term or a carton of cigs. :) all the law does is protect criminals, never the ones they hurt.. its always about there rights
@juggalotusification i hope youre being sarcastic. dying IS the end of someone's world. why would you make anyone go through that when they didn't need to?
When it comes to someone who did something bad enough for the death penalty I say lie detector their ass and find out if they'd rather die or stay in prison then give them the opposite of what they want! Go & take the ones with life in prison & put them to work doing shit so they make up for the food, space, and air they take up. You could say it would take away from jobs others would have but you could always have them do things that wouldn't be done otherwise like roadside & stream sanitation.
i think death penalty saves the tax payer heaps of money in the long run. death is a natural part of life why do people demonise death? It's not the end of the world lol
Death would just be a way out for people regretting what they did and not wanting to change. Rehabilitation where possible, and if not... Pay for your deeds with time imo... I don't really believe anyone is entitled to make the choice if someone lives or dies anyways
I personally believe that a person who has committed a serious crime should be able to have an option of whether they live or die. I don't really believe in not giving the person a choice of what they are going to do with their lives, even if the charges were serious.
I just honestly think they should be locked up for life, I mean would it be the right choice for the death penalty? yeah, but you're basically committing murder yourself legally.
Death Penalty all the way. Rapist, Murderer, Dealer... This human junk only take space and money from the state. I wish where I live we had this kinda of punishment.
The Death Penalty isn't about having humane execution for the criminal, it's about having a humane execution for the people who had to put up with that son of a bitch rapist/murderer/burglar etc...
I am 100% against the death penalty, so it's difficult to say. Honesty, life in prison is a pretty severe punishment, and worse than death. "You're forced to live with your mistakes, not to mention prisons are generally miserable. I would never want to spend my whole life in there. If I wanted a less severe punishment, I would choose death. Which is actually why I am against the death penalty. That and it violates the 8th amendement against cruel and unusual punishment.
I'm originally norwegian, and guess what the maximum penalty is there? It's called "21 years", but anyone who doesn't do further crimes in jail is released after two thirds is served. I.e 14 years. And there are so low crime levels in Norway that it makes the USA look like a neanderthal stone age jungle or something...why is that, I wonder? Why do you have so much violence, crime and and drugs and stuff? And how can a modern country have death penalty? You're the only western country to have it!
I think we should have harsher laws, in some societies they would beat you with a bamboo cane a certain number of times depending on your crime.
if I went to jail for something, I would be on my best behavior till I got out and then I would do it again just to say fuck you to them for not just killing me.
but if I got beat or tortured for a crime, fuck that I'd be done whatever it was real quick!
i could have sworn that the point of putting someone in jail was to rehabilitate them, not to have them killed.
so yes, i'm opposed to the death penalty, as for assisted suicide which i think was brought up i think you need a psychological evaluation etc before that
I used to think life in prison, basing this on conceived time and toils, could truly be considered 'punishment'. I have come to recognize, though, how much I appreciate being conscious, no matter the state of my angst or hardships. Death is quite meaningless, though being so irreparable an end for a living consciousness, I find murder a terrifying implication. Although, if it were less costly than life imprisonment I might reconsider depending on the charges.
Honestly I don't think 60 years in prison is all that bad...
I mean, it really depends what your goals are in life. If its the pursuit of knowledge then you can always get books, exercise and have a good life. Then again, most people only think about procreation and being unable to have makes their life unbearable...
I don't know, yes there would be things that I would miss like being able to travel and learn from different places/people, but I don't think it would be that horrible either.
At least while you're in prison you can keep in contact with family, instead of being put through cruel and unusual punishment by being put to death and having others suffer for it.
Wait, people are really stupid enough to say "Oh tis guy killed somebody and it was WRONG! Oh well, time to go kill him because we are smart and helping people." What fucking morons..
I heard any crimes concerning children usually have the inmates take care of said person, be it buttfucking them till they die or they simply have an 'accident' so yeah, life in prison for a child abusers is a lot worse than death penalty. Yeah, the legal system some times works the other way around...
I don't think anyone should get the death penalty unless there's absolute evidence that they did the crime. Some people just don't deserve to live, in my opinion.
I dont believe in death penalitys.death penalities are no different from what the murderers do.Someone like a police defending theirself by shooting someone who has a gun shooting back isnt the same thing as a death penality.I dont wish for anyone to be killed ,I mean to say that self defense is the only thing that isnt really murder. If I ever have to defend myself ill try to make sure that I dont end up killing the person.I perfer life in prison but i'll commit suicide after lol.
Being Pro-Life, i dont believe ANYONE can take anyone elses life. Not in war, abortion, or the death penalty. That's just my opinoin, thought. Prison over Death penalty.
Well to be honest I wouldn't get in a situation where I'm in prison in the first place, but if I had to pick I'd probally pick prison. Reason behind this is you only live once, so why shorten it :/
Life is precious, and unknown, it would be a typical human act, to end it, without any knowledge of the consequences, or any knowledge of the potential of the human life.
Death is much more horrible because, practically, they take your life from you (even if you maybe didn't kill someone, just did other things, I don't know the laws for this). But in the same time, I would rather be dead than live a miserable life in prison.
I'm so happy that i live in a country where death penaltys are forbidden!! killing does not justify another persons (a prisoners) action. Its just a way to remove the trouble instead of dealing with it!
Well, if I spent 60 years in prison I would've gone insane bring trapped in a box for almost my whole life [plus, I'm claustrophobic] so I'd prefer the death penalty.
@xXxUniversexXx Actually I think I said that "not all people are in prison for the right reasons". But if someone were to rape and murder a little child, I would definitely want to make them suffer for what they did. I am completely aware of the pros and cons of hanging people and why we don't still do it today. I just think that if someone were convicted of such a crime I would want them to be hung. Not only to make them suffer, but because it's cheaper as well.
This is one that I am never sure on, I mean if someone raped and bruterly murrderd my baby sister I would want them to be servilely punished. Now I have heard the prisons in England are apparently not all that bad and also 'Life' in prison isn't life at all. So thinking about that I would want death upon them. That being said I am sure there must be cases where someone has been given the death penalty and died as an innocent person. :/
I DO NOT believe in the death penalty, because death is the easy way out. If you go to prison, you should live with the guilt. I know that sounds heartless, but the were heartless when they killed someone. As for the mentally insane...A mental hospital may be in order? So, yeah...No death penalty. Oh! And what if someone is found innocent? That innocent person just died for no reason.
@Starrygirl287 That costs money though. Your tax money pays for some rapist's food and bed. Prisoners live better than our homeless!! Cost of one bullet? 1 dollar.
@truthwillbetoldjig I kind of agree with you, but I worry about those who receive the penalty when they are innocent. And for the fact that death is like an escape from their guilt (Not involving religion). Once the judge assigns the criminal to either spend life in prison or the death penalty, what if the family that was affected by their deed are able to decide? Of course, I'm not exactly sure if that's legal...I just want justice to be served.
@truthwillbetoldjig Damn straight! Let's just stone everyone to death when they commit a crime. Afternoon fun for the entire family. Fk humanity... I rather have a piece of paper with some dead guy I never knew on it!
@Starrygirl287 That's honestly not how a father of a daughter who was murdered would feel about the murderer. In his mind, death would be the ultimate punishment for the atrocity he preformed. Put yourself in a position like that, I know I wouldn't be satisfied with him continuing to live even if it was a miserable existence in prison.
@Sk8rZacUntitledSk8 Criminals shouldn't be killed because of some butthurt victims with a "that's what you get" mentality. They should simply be killed to cleanse the earth of its filth.
@Starrygirl287 Though a good point, it present's a problem. Most people who murder don't regret their actions. If kept alive and presented the opportunity, they would kill the prison guard or another inmate. Once you are thrown in for life, you have nothing to loose.
@RockinAlpacaLord Yes you do. It varies depending on the prison, but normally they can lose certain priviledges for minor infractions. And for larger infractions they can be sent to different levels of the prison [i.e. solitary confinement]. If they want to punish you in prison, they'll find a way to.
Looking at that from the point of view of someone who pays Taxes and has never been in jail/prison, life in prison is worse. America is paying to keep people alive that shouldn't be alive. If someone kills 27 people and is serving multiple life sentences, then why should the American public pay for them to be alive? Why should I pay for the "food" he eats and the clothes he wears?
If someone is in prison for life, they should be killed so America doesn't have to pay for them.
In Russia they don't have the death sentence because there they don't think that if you are sent to jail you are 100% GUILTY (Like they do in america) And there is still the chance they are proven to be innocent.
...............life in prison is not that bad. If you go in at a young age, you grow within the system, and it because your life/community. The Manson followers who have spent pretty much their entire adult lives in prison look great for the most part. Well taken care of. Some got married while in prison, got their degrees, made a lot of friends in and out. Tex even had 4 kids, so the sex must be good in prison too (and doesn't have to be the same sex, obviously). Free medical care, free food
@desperategirl932 after years and years...it's no different than your community on the outside. Some people on the outside have a much fuller life, no doubt, but there's a lot of people who live their lives on the outside in their own prisons in many ways. Always struggling to pay the bills, to get ahead, issues with depression or other health problems, no family, no real love, not well accepted, work non-stop to feed the family, lost jobs, drug/alcohol abuse, living on the street, etc.
@desperategirl932 thats a very true comment u made. Try going your whole life living homeless and not haveing a mate by your side to love. Maybe not as bad as being locked in a cage all your life. But damn near though!.
@desperategirl932 Look around at other countries that are overpopulated where there isn't money or enough resources, people live still with out water, lights, enough food. People even in developed countries struggle each day, maybe living on the streets and being passed by. In prison, at least people talk to you. There's a gym, tv/cable time, schooling, libraries...there's a lot. probable more than a lot of many of the real thugs in prison had on the outside, and they're safer there too.
@desperategirl932 I suppose it depends on how good your life is on the outside. Those having a blast, huge family, well loved, money, lots of things to do, and never really could relate to depressed people, etc. would definitely suffer in prison, and most likely wouldn't survive more than a few days. I think the lifers who have been well-behaved, and made something of themselves in prison, have a pretty good life...and after so many years, it's really all they know. I'd rather be there...then
@desperategirl932 if I had to stand on my feet working for minimum wage in a shitty job and living in a shitty place at an older age because I never could find a way out of poverty or find another life. prison like anything...it depends on the person and how they turn it around to work for them.
If i was going to prison for 60 years (guessing that i would be 20-30 at the time) i would just rather be dead. By the time i get out, i would beat least 80 years old and i might have already died. Even if i do make it out, whats the point? you cant work, you have no family, you have no belongings. Just die and get it over with.
I prefer the death penalty because if you're going to spend the rest of your life in prison than what's the point? I rather be dead than suffer slowly for the rest of my life.
I would rather have the death penalty. I really don't want to suffer in prison. What's the whole point of wanting to have the life sentence? At that point, your life is already over and wasted. Might as well get over the suffering.
I think life in prison would be worse because if you are sentenced to death it would just all be over but if you are in prison you remind yourself every day of what you've done and you suffer, even if they treat you well you would still be suffering because you regret what you did.
But then again I also think that if what they did was completely violent and cruel we shouldn't chance them being able to do it again and possibly break out of prison, and the death penalty would prevent that.
if your asking which one i would choose the 60 years because some times the painkillers dont work and u feel the medicin an that sucks because it acrually burms the vains and arteries if your asking which one would be better probably still the 60 years because the injection is not instan it takes from 30 minutes to 2 hours and i would hate to feel my vains literaly burning for that long
I think that the death penalty is worse, because if new evidence is found that proves the person innocent, they can be let free, but they can't be resurrected.
Selfishly I would rather die but it would depend on my family. If they had forsaken me then i would want to die but if they still loved me and wanted me to live so they could visit me I would probably want to live for them
If someone TAKES a human LIFE, or RAPES a YOUNG CHILD, they deserve to die. It sounds harsh but I believe in those 2 cases the death penalty would be effective. If we got rid of the murders and kiddy fuckers, prisons wouldn't be over flowing like they are!
im kindof middle ground on the death penalty, it gets rid of people who caused the problem and keeps open space in prison, but people will learn a lesson if theyre alive in prison and they will change
IMHO, there's NOTHING worse than death (of consciousness that is the person). To an atheist like me it means nonexistence. If you contemplate it much... It sucks. But prisons are pretty comfy in most countries, including mine. Inmates are treated well, much better than they deserved (free food, services, even some entertainment). There's barely a punishment. I think death penalty should be compulsory to the worst criminals. Such justice would also instil fear to the potential troublemakers...
I believe(did i spell that wrong?) that we should make someone rot in jail on some circumstances, but how ever that costs more money. Sometimes i believe that the death pently. Im not opposed to either
I personaly think that Death Penality is better, because even if youre throwing them in prison for life there is still chance for them to have probation. What the jurydic system don't understand is that even if they are nice in jail, they can do worse when they return in society. We cannot take the chance to release a murder or a rapist or whatever they did to pass theyre life if jail.
kill them. don't waste money for their food and water when we could spend it on food and water for all those non murderer/rapest folk all over the world who ARE starving?
prison is worse ... at least in my mind ... the worst thing in my mind ... is living in a confined room ... with myself ... for 60+ years
but if they are going to kill me ... make it gruesome
the chair.. hanging, catapult, guillotine, injection is too merciful ... firing range ... burning ... cement boots ... there could be so many fun variations you can come up with to end my life ... plus it will cut down on the overcrowded prisons
The trick is to NOT do anything that will land your ass in prison in the first place. That being said, I wouldn't be put in justly. THAT said I would much rather the death penalty over 60 years of suffering for a crime I didn't commit. At least then I'd be out of this corrupt and twisted fucking world!
Too much fucked up shit going on in this planet, I'd much prefer heaven over this 1st hell anyday.
@beefsupreme420 While i completely agree with that view, you would still be in prison for quite along time before executed. I don't support the death penalty and think its quite ridiculous and living in jail for the rest of your life is a just punishment for a rapist or a murderer.
It depends I think. If I had family, friends, or anyone I loved on the outside who still contacted me frequently, that may give me something more to live for... And perhaps I'd want those extra years. But, on the other hand... If you're just someone who doesn't really feel as though they have much to live for, then the death penalty would probably look more appealing to them.
the death penalty gives one the easy way out. so, when someone says 'that pedo/murderer/whatever should be killed', they are not suffering for the crimes they commited.
in prison, on the other hand, they suffer. they don't get the love they got at home, with friends and family for comfort. they're in a genuinely uncomfortable and terrifying environment, where no one gives a shit about what happens to them.
It doesn't take that long to become insitutionalized. After 15 years in prison most humans have a difficult time adjusting to this world again. And yes, prison is a different world. Some prisons are worst than others.
Depending on the prison... I'd choose death due to a six month sentence.
i dont know which would be worse....i adapt pretty well to change... so prison might not be so bad... i dont like change...but i adapt to it really quickly
In the uk 15 years can be considered life in prison even if the person is only like 30 or less sometmes.. Death panalty is illegal in the Uk s i cant realy comment but i think its a gd thing just because of how i was brought up, society and stuff. I think the death penalty became illegal in the 60s in the uk?
Both are bad

There's a part of ALL OF US which YEARNS for capital punishment... & not a part of our nature to be especially proud of.
To deny it's there, however, IS to invite... maybe not disaster but certainly nothing good.
Read 'Viktor Frankl'. ALL human life has purpose... even those who deserve their lives least.
I contend that a murderer, for instance, whilst alive, retains the chance, however slight, that they can at least do SOMETHING to redeem themselves.
Hope this answers your point.

CatalyticShreds 10 months ago
@CatalyticShreds well the rapist and pedophile might deserve that what if the murder killed for a very good reason or killed a pedophile/rapist so do they still get the same punishment. i am not trying to justify it just in some cases it may be justified
king78802 9 months ago
@king78802 That's true, i think it would (obviously) differ from case to case :)
CatalyticShreds 9 months ago
@CatalyticShreds The human mind can only take so much abuse until it stop being what some might call human. Your idea is may seem conceptually good to you, but it is full of flaws, and possibly a violation of 'human rights'. Besides the person would only endure so much before their mind just shuts off.
deadithink 9 months ago
@deadithink I guess, but i have a passionate hatred towards people like that, i think- punish them till they're barely human, then kill them.

I would rather have life in prison then death penalty because I would have the chance to help people while in jail. Like if I gave someone good advice and they then pass that advice to their family or a friend to help them or if I influence them to set positive goals and aim for them when they would get out of jail. This would make living in jail more worthwhile as opposed to dying.

meltyourheadaches326 1 year ago
When it comes to someone who did something bad enough for the death penalty I say lie detector their ass and find out if they'd rather die or stay in prison then give them the opposite of what they want! Go & take the ones with life in prison & put them to work doing shit so they make up for the food, space, and air they take up. You could say it would take away from jobs others would have but you could always have them do things that wouldn't be done otherwise like roadside & stream sanitation.

And there are so low crime levels in Norway that it makes the USA look like a neanderthal stone age jungle or something...why is that, I wonder? Why do you have so much violence, crime and and drugs and stuff? And how can a modern country have death penalty? You're the only western country to have it!

if I went to jail for something, I would be on my best behavior till I got out and then I would do it again just to say fuck you to them for not just killing me.
but if I got beat or tortured for a crime, fuck that I'd be done whatever it was real quick!

SeasonVelvet 1 year ago
Honestly I don't think 60 years in prison is all that bad...
I mean, it really depends what your goals are in life. If its the pursuit of knowledge then you can always get books, exercise and have a good life. Then again, most people only think about procreation and being unable to have makes their life unbearable...
I don't know, yes there would be things that I would miss like being able to travel and learn from different places/people, but I don't think it would be that horrible either.

Not only to make them suffer, but because it's cheaper as well.

This is one that I am never sure on, I mean if someone raped and bruterly murrderd my baby sister I would want them to be servilely punished.
Starrygirl287 1 year ago 45
@Starrygirl287 That costs money though. Your tax money pays for some rapist's food and bed. Prisoners live better than our homeless!! Cost of one bullet? 1 dollar.
truthwillbetoldjig 1 year ago
@truthwillbetoldjig I kind of agree with you, but I worry about those who receive the penalty when they are innocent. And for the fact that death is like an escape from their guilt (Not involving religion). Once the judge assigns the criminal to either spend life in prison or the death penalty, what if the family that was affected by their deed are able to decide? Of course, I'm not exactly sure if that's legal...I just want justice to be served.

@RockinAlpacaLord Yes you do. It varies depending on the prison, but normally they can lose certain priviledges for minor infractions.
If someone is in prison for life, they should be killed so America doesn't have to pay for them.

...............life in prison is not that bad. Free medical care, free food
desperategirl932 1 year ago
@desperategirl932 after years and years...it's no different than your community on the outside. Some people on the outside have a much fuller life, no doubt, but there's a lot of people who live their lives on the outside in their own prisons in many ways. Always struggling to pay the bills, to get ahead, issues with depression or other health problems, no family, no real love, not well accepted, work non-stop to feed the family, lost jobs, drug/alcohol abuse, living on the street, etc.
desperategirl932 1 year ago
@desperategirl932 thats a very true comment u made. Try going your whole life living homeless and not haveing a mate by your side to love. Maybe not as bad as being locked in a cage all your life. But damn near though!.
kambridge967 1 year ago
@desperategirl932 Look around at other countries that are overpopulated where there isn't money or enough resources, people live still with out water, lights, enough food. People even in developed countries struggle each day, maybe living on the streets and being passed by. In prison, at least people talk to you. There's a gym, tv/cable time, schooling, libraries...there's a lot. probable more than a lot of many of the real thugs in prison had on the outside, and they're safer there too.
desperategirl932 1 year ago
@desperategirl932 I suppose it depends on how good your life is on the outside. Those having a blast, huge family, well loved, money, lots of things to do, and never really could relate to depressed people, etc. would definitely suffer in prison, and most likely wouldn't survive more than a few days. I think the lifers who have been well-behaved, and made something of themselves in prison, have a pretty good life...and after so many years, it's really all they know. I'd rather be there...then
desperategirl932 1 year ago
@desperategirl932 if I had to stand on my feet working for minimum wage in a shitty job and living in a shitty place at an older age because I never could find a way out of poverty or find another life. prison like anything...it depends on the person and how they turn it around to work for them.

I personaly think that Death Penality is better, because even if youre throwing them in prison for life there is still chance for them to have probation. What the jurydic system don't understand is that even if they are nice in jail, they can do worse when they return in society. We cannot take the chance to release a murder or a rapist or whatever they did to pass theyre life if jail.

the death penalty gives one the easy way out. so, when someone says 'that pedo/murderer/whatever should be killed', they are not suffering for the crimes they commited.
in prison, on the other hand, they suffer. they don't get the love they got at home, with friends and family for comfort. they're in a genuinely uncomfortable and terrifying environment, where no one gives a shit about what happens to them.
personally, i believe prison is worse.

Considering most people die in their 60-70's.
Theres a part of me that would try to live that long. But at the same time...
I can't take 6 years, doing the same routine at work. I don't think I could have such a repetetive lifestyle, for times 10 years.
So...I think I'd just let them kill me.
I mean if I had the choice. If I was put in prison, I don't think I'd get brave enough to actually try to kill myself.

I'd rather live in every way. There's nothing after life, so even if you are in prison, that's all you can have !

It doesn't take that long to become insitutionalized. After 15 years in prison most humans have a difficult time adjusting to this world again. And yes, prison is a different world. Some prisons are worst than others.
Depending on the prison... I'd choose death due to a six month sentence.
