  • Hey, I know it's been a long time since you uploaded this, but I was wondering what sticking you used from measure 25 - 30.

    Really awesome job btw.

  • @jemtan990 3, 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 etc. Mallet 3 hits the F, then everything is 1234 after that. Easy peasy

  • This is a very captivating performance, and it is probably your video that has inspired me to learn this for my senior recital...

How long did you work on this?

  • i like your movement. im working on it so ,can you tell me how your arm and elbow support it?

  • Terrific :)

  • awesome!!!

  • where could i get the music for this? need some nice concert marimba music for my ATCL.

  • @icanmakeyouchuckle Steve Weiss Music sells it.

  • Sorry for the delay but these are actually the old Mark Ford mallets

  • @Peaux

    what model numbers? graduated set?

  • @nickrothouse

I can't remember the model number, they were medium-hards I think. And non-graduated

  • what mallets are you using?

  • @nickrothouse

I'm no pro or anything but he appears to be using VF Van Sice mallets.

    I think.

  • ok Dude, im digging these permutations could you tell me what your sticking is for measures 25-30. my sticking works but i would like it to look cool as well. I've got all the other sticking. I just liked yours better at those measures.

  • i wouldn't listen to the criticism, any boring musician can play what's written on the page, the good musician puts emotion into it too

  • I really enjoyed this! I'm a music education major and percussionist at WCU and I was looking up a piece to play next semester. This is wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed your interpretation. Great job!

  • Obvious talent...wrong rhythms/interpretation...and scootily, I'm am pretty sure Gordon Stout is the performer on the Ewazen CD

  • @percussion1123 I think that's maybe the first time I've heard someone tell someone else that their interpretation is "wrong." I mean, sure, the rhythms aren't always what's on the page, but sheesh

  • Beautiful piece! I know what I am learning next on marimba...

  • video feed is weird.

  • Performance Psychology's Prime Example!

  • @drumsarefunman what does that mean?

  • Can you tell me the name of the marimba player? Thank you!

  • sorry...i also have the cd, but i scartched it too much. she-e wu did it on eric ewazen's cd

  • so i just got stitches put on my left thumb and i am working on this piece, so i am learning the notes by reading the music and listening to you play so i know how it sounds.

  • Great performance!! Also, the marimba sounds amazing in that room!! If I wanted to learn this piece, what would I need to work on specifically to prepare myself (technique and/or emotion)?

  • Awesome job!

i am planning to play this piece in my graduation recital. How do you memorize a piece that long?

Btw, are those the new Mark Ford Mallets? The Green ones? I've been meaning to buy/try them, i use my robert van sice now and i felt that they're abit too much attacky and they wear our pretty fast.

How do you feel about the mallets you are using?

    matt from hong kong

  • beautiful piece played absolutely beautifully =) I can only hope that I can play it at least half as well for my junior recital...

  • wow man, awesome performance and great technique. there are gorgeous phrases that can be brought out in this piece though, ewazen was a genius. listen to she-e's recording on "snapshot," you might like that performance.

  • Great job. I heard you play this at OK PAS last year. You did good then, but you really nailed it this time around.

  • Overall good job - the mallets sound great. However, I think you could take some more time in some of the busier passages as it starts to sound a little frenetic, and I'm not sure that's what the piece is going for. Although I admit, when I played this piece I would tend to get caught up in it all. Cheers

  • man, You are a beast. Great technique! This piece is awesome. I'm glad I can finally hear all of it

  • Really great job. Did you perform this on the stage at Catlett? Every room in that building has amazing acoustics.

  • Wow, Hats off! Nice performance.

    Robert Van Sice mallets perhaps?

    Who is your professor?

  • The mallets are the newly re-done Mark Fords... 803s, I think. Something like that. This is from the University of Oklahoma, under Dr. Lance Drege.

  • It's about time this piece got up on youtube. Excellent job, it's interesting what you did with the piece. Those additional octaves in the beginning are especially tasty, something I'll probably be taking a look at. Those mallets sound really great too- what are they? I'm trying to get as much info and exploration into this piece as I move on with it before my recital. Thanks for posting!
