That was awesome. Im doing my first ever contest tomorrow on a QH stallion who was in the circuit. He loves barrels and would gladly run them if there was no one there. Just turn him loose in a pasture that has barrels in it and he would probly spend the whole time running around them even if there were mares in the next pasture over. I know he will do great tomorrow hopefully I can just stay on :D

Barrel racing and pole bending if fine, but the cruel part about rodeos is the shocking bulls and horses to make them buck.

@ThatIsSomePig oh shut up! they dont SHOCK bulls and broncs to buck. the horses have a riggin' places on the tops of their shoulders for the roughstock rider to hold on on.that is secured with a cinch. just like a saddle. and the rope is tied around their flanks (AKA THE TICKLE SPOT). the rope around their flanks isnt tight or uncomfortable. its merely a device that shows the animal its job. he job would be TO BUCK. those animals are bred for bucking. and all Hot Shot sticks are SPCA sanctioned

And bronc riding is not cruel and most of the time they don't have to shock the horses, but if they do they have people checking that stuff in that sitaution to make sure it isn't to much voltage and that it won't seriously harm that animal. and one more thing are you with PEDA or SHARK?

@1233Maya i have been riding horse all my lifeand i know a lot of bronk riders, and those horses are some of the best looked after in the world. they are fed preemeon feeds are well looked after, and only work for 8seconds a week, the rest of the time they are pretty much in living in a horses idea of heaven. the same treatment is given the the bulls.

Few rodeos use prods on horses, and the buck strap doesn't hurt. How do you know they don't like bucking? I see healthy horses with their ears up and happy, doing what comes natural. They work into their late teens a lot of the time. If the horse was really sick if it do you think it would coperate for that long?

And for everyone who thinks a discipline is cruel just because you don't do it, I do dressage AND barrel racing. Most rodeo IS cruel. This horse doesn't LOVE his job... he is conditioned to do this when he is taken to this environment. If you do a routine long enough with a horse he will do what you normally do in that routine before you even ask, most people don't give them the chance to think though and start pulling the bit, and using the legs and spurs even though the horse has been doing it for so long that he knows what to do.
