Hi, are you really admire you a great player and Dusan wrote the music truly magnificent that tells of his land. Thanks for the 'help that you gave me to understand these Miniatures. bye
I have to say that for anyone to say that there's no phrasing here really shows a great lack of aural prowess. And I agree with chhhheta in that if its a balkan piece it should be played in a balkan manner. Pieces of this nature tend to have a very (for lack of a better word) gypsy dance feel to them and that is certainly demonstrated here. My feeling is that the criticism here is coming from a LISTENER and not a PLAYER. Trust me, if you dont play, you don't hear as well as you think you do.

It is one thing to share your opinion about a performance and what you think could be improved, and another to lambast a player, saying that it is a "terrible performance". This gives me the impression you do not play any musical instrument to appreciate the time and effort involved. This is Zoran's take and yes, it could have been "better" or different, but I respect it anyway.
i see what your saying and would agree but not if i think about it in context, hes playing a very different set of pieces to roberto which require clarity in tone rather than the deeper tone roberto is using, i think if you listen to zoran dukic's cd of 24 pieces by mario castelnuavo (however you spell it) then you will see what im saying, some of the pieces by mario, zoran uses rich amazing tones. should be able to get it on itunes.
I don't disagree with anything, but if you want to hear a instrument with truly awesome tone in my opinion listen to Roberto Aussels Friderich (vids from same festival)

Dear Zoran,
this is a terrible performance with no phrasing and no shape. Very average. And very boring.
Petra Poláčková (Petra51234 on youtube) plays this a thousand times better, since her version is not boring, but played like a musician!

@rogeelaster : I have to agree with you here, actually.
But Zoran is a usually a fantastic guitarist (you can listen some of his fine performances at plushmusic.tv !)

@rogeelaster I totally disagree. Balkan Miniatures should sound Balkan, and when Zoran plays them, they really sound Balkan.

@rogeelaster The way Zoran plays it it sound actually Balkan, as the name implies.

There should be more video's like this. The sound quality of this does the player justice.

amazing, but how does he play with his nails filed like that? Is he using ping pong balls underneath the nail?

@jivananda Looks like he uses fake nails one all of the fingers...

I've had the pleasure to watch him live in Sweden. That's when I realised that hard work without talent can't take you to this level.

@JPmax89 I always thought it was the other way around. A great maestro told me that more than having talent it was about creating talent.
