Once losing Yamato, the Order of the Sword took it for themselves.

At the end of DMC3 (Which is set before this game), Vergil decides to stay in the Demon World after being defeated by Dante for the second time. There, he sees Mundus' infamous 'Three Eyes' and decides to fight the Prince of Darkness.
Mundus probably beat Vergil (Since Vergil didn't have the complete power of Sparda) and corrupted him into 'Nelo Angelo' so that he could serve as a powerful warrior to help Mundus take over the World in the first game.
Devil may cry 3 is the first story. Just for the title, in DMC3 is: Dante's Awakening, Dante awake the demon that's inside him. Then he's younger, as you can see.

Apparently it has been confirmed off the record by the translation staff that Nero may be Vergil's son. Considering the possible immortality of the the two brothers due to their demon blood, I find this to be very possible.
The legend states that Sparda has two sons, and Nero is clearly too different in personality, voice, and apparent age to actually be Vergil. So, since it is confirmed in-game that Nero does have the blood of Sparda, it seems Vergil must have sired him some time before DMC4.
They should have put subtitles not only for the demons, but for Dante as well. I never understood what he said in this scene..."this stinking hole was the last place I thought I'd find anyone with dssdlkfgdgss"
It's pretty ironic that Nelo came out of the mirror in the image of Dante, since Vergil practically has the same appearance - with the exception of his hair being sweaped back.
It's actually suppose to be "Nero" Angelo because his name was to be "Dark Angel" in Latin or something. "Nero" is the true translation and "Nelo" was a mistake that was never really corrected.
Probably because "Nelo" doesn't mean anything. They fucked up the translation of "Black" the first time they tried to say it in Italian. I guess when people learned that the term is "Nero" instead of "Nelo", they just started using the correct one.
I've been corrected on the mistranlation more times than I can be bothered to count, I do hope someone keeps this rated as high as the comment I'm replying to, so people stop feeling the need to tell me all over again.

Vergil desires power. As he said, without power, you can't protect anyone. He's mostly likely referring to how he was powerless to protect their mom.
when they first fought Vergil thought he killed him it was only thanks to Dante's devil trigger that he was able to survive that.
im not going to deny how Dante felt about Vergil in the end, that was brotherly love but when Vergil wanted power, he mainly felt that he was in his father Sparta's shadow and wanted to surpass him and this might also be why Vergil resented his brother at the start of the game due to Dante not really giving a shit about his father....great now you got me into this
It just seems odd that Vergil would really think that impalement to the torso would really kill him. It seems more like he would have done more to make sure (like impale the head head). Without Devil Trigger, Dante would probably just have taken longer to recover (He's survived impalements before).
Your second paragraph is pretty true though, but for me, his words to Dante in their first battle leave me wondering.
Actually, the 1st fight with Vergil in DMC3 was his first real impaling, unless he has been impaled as a kid... The enemies in the start impaled his legs and a bit on the torso, But Vergil did it once with Yamato and once with Rebellion. But im pretty sure Vergil knew what would've killed Dante and what not, considering their twins...

At the end of DMC3 (Which is set before this game), Vergil decides to stay in the Demon World after being defeated by Dante for the second time. There, he sees Mundus' infamous 'Three Eyes' and decides to fight the Prince of Darkness.
Mundus probably beat Vergil (Since Vergil didn't have the complete power of Sparda) and corrupted him into 'Nelo Angelo' so that he could serve as a powerful warrior to help Mundus take over the World in the first game.

Devil may cry 3 is the first story. Just for the title, in DMC3 is: Dante's Awakening, Dante awake the demon that's inside him. Then he's younger, as you can see.

If it's even part of the timeline anymore, DMC2 is set after DMC4, so it would make sense that Mundus has battle scars from previous battles than took place in DMC3 and DMC1...

Apparently it has been confirmed off the record by the translation staff that Nero may be Vergil's son. Considering the possible immortality of the the two brothers due to their demon blood, I find this to be very possible.
The legend states that Sparda has two sons, and Nero is clearly too different in personality, voice, and apparent age to actually be Vergil. So, since it is confirmed in-game that Nero does have the blood of Sparda, it seems Vergil must have sired him some time before DMC4.

It's actually suppose to be "Nero" Angelo because his name was to be "Dark Angel" in Latin or something. "Nero" is the true translation and "Nelo" was a mistake that was never really corrected.

Probably because "Nelo" doesn't mean anything. They fucked up the translation of "Black" the first time they tried to say it in Italian. I guess when people learned that the term is "Nero" instead of "Nelo", they just started using the correct one.

and they have something that makes them look the same

The proof u want is the DMC1 videogame itself.
If u play it (and finish it), u'll see in the cutscenes that there is absolutely no doubt about that, Nelo Angelo was Vergil.
Mundus is da 1 who kicked Vergil's ass and "transformed" him after DMC3.

They don't hate each other. Vergil desires power (possibly to protect some loved one). And Dante stood in Vergil's way of attaining power.
Dante and Vergil still respect and care for one another. Vergil probably knew that the wounds he inflicts on Dante won't kill him.

Vergil desires power. As he said, without power, you can't protect anyone. He's mostly likely referring to how he was powerless to protect their mom.

when they first fought Vergil thought he killed him it was only thanks to Dante's devil trigger that he was able to survive that.
im not going to deny how Dante felt about Vergil in the end, that was brotherly love but when Vergil wanted power, he mainly felt that he was in his father Sparta's shadow and wanted to surpass him and this might also be why Vergil resented his brother at the start of the game due to Dante not really giving a shit about his father....great now you got me into this

It just seems odd that Vergil would really think that impalement to the torso would really kill him. It seems more like he would have done more to make sure (like impale the head head). Without Devil Trigger, Dante would probably just have taken longer to recover (He's survived impalements before).
Your second paragraph is pretty true though, but for me, his words to Dante in their first battle leave me wondering.

Actually, the 1st fight with Vergil in DMC3 was his first real impaling, unless he has been impaled as a kid... The enemies in the start impaled his legs and a bit on the torso, But Vergil did it once with Yamato and once with Rebellion. But im pretty sure Vergil knew what would've killed Dante and what not, considering their twins...
