Im canadian and we have gun control and its just a waist of money. Its true that shootings have gone way down. we used to have over 800 shootings a year now we have 34. Criminals, the people who WILL kill you if given the chance, do not acquire firearms by legal means or hold carry permits. If you are in their sights and are unarmed, unless there's a cop within the immediate vicinity, you're almost certainly dead. In most cases, the police will be at least 5 minutes away. You don't have 5 minutes to wait for them to come save you. You're only option is to save yourself, and without a gun, that's very hard to do.

except getting enough votes to over-ride the constitution doesnt make any sense, since putting law-makers into place that are bound by the constittution cant go above it. only the supreme court can decide and they are elected by the President, who is elected by The Electoral College, who are elected by The State senates, who are then elected by the people of that state. so no getting enough people to vote isnt going to work. someone needs to study up on Government processes.

That right is not given by any state, we have that right because we are human beings. Im canadian and we have gun control and its just a waist of money. Its true that shootings have gone way down. we used to have over 800 shootings a year now we have 34. However the amount of stabbing stragelings and other things have gone way up. People will always find away to kill each other and personally I would rather be shot than stabbed anyway. Again you got it wrong. Read the darn 2nd Amendment. The words citzens, indivedual, everyday persons, IS NOT in the Amendment. The words you seem to have trouble in say is, THE PEOPLE. THE PEOPLE have the right to bear arms. If you deny THE PEOPLE this right, then all the people rights can be denied. At the end you say a bad day for us. The only us that will have a bad day from this rulling are, RAPIEST, ROBBERS, MURDERS, CHILD KILLERS, CAR JACKERS, BURGERLERS, STALKERS, ETC. Which one are you?

The Supreme Court has finally got something half right! We must stand by our Constitution and allow no individual to usurp our God given rights. There is overwhelming evidence with mountains of statistics and books proving guns ‘do’ prevent home invasions and are a reasonable means of self-defense. Anyone individual (Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty) disagreeing with these proofs are either illiterate or have an ulterior motive of disarming American citizens! Guns don’t kill people, criminals do!

I was looking for more details (I know, on YouTube...) on the supreme court ruling, so a kept listening. After a while the speaker reminded me of the guy on Fox. He also talks a lot, doesn't present data points (other than made up ones, the guy on Fox), and likes to hear himself talking. Then I thought I could do the same. But then I saw how many views this clip has. So few views is not worth the effort.

CENK: you're a smart guy you know darn well that the well regulated militia referred to the civilian militia. The founders were not in favor of a large standing domestic army.
All men had the obligation to participate in the militias so that if their unalienable rights were threatened there would be a response by the people.
Well regulated in in the 1700's meant "functioning well or working well" not regulated by the government.
The threat to our rights can be foreign or domestic.

Idly no, but we don't live in a world where anyone, yet along governing bodies can look out over everyone and predict who will or will not do harm. That and the ruling was about gun laws encompassing a whole city. Are you saying one must be a psycho to live in DC?
I agree with your ideals, but not your methodology. Should we bar those with bad credit scores or no high school diploma from owning? Where does that lead for all rights? It's akin to 'free speech zones'.

Okay, this has gone on long enough.
Criminals, the people who WILL kill you if given the chance, do not acquire firearms by legal means or hold carry permits. If you are in their sights and are unarmed, unless there's a cop within the immediate vicinity, you're almost certainly dead. In most cases, the police will be at least 5 minutes away. You don't have 5 minutes to wait for them to come save you. You're only option is to save yourself, and without a gun, that's very hard to do.

Way to misinterpret Scalia's words. He also said he believes this individual liberty should be monitored and regulated, but of course nobody ever talks about that. You should probably read up on Thomas Jefferson's papers in which he discussed privately-owned guns in a free society. Don't like Jefferson? Look up Washington. You probably live in a posh gated community where crime is something only the "other half" has to deal with. If you lived where I lived you'd need a gun for protection.

Liberals want more government control, the government can't get rid of the constitution (easily) if people own guns, the second amendment is our right to bare arms so we can defend ourselves from an oppressive government. They also keep you safe from burglars rapists and murderers, but never mind that the police will show up after you've been robbed raped and murdered assuming they're not tazing innocent protesters or shooting caged animals for fun. =)

Since when did the military need a amendment to allow them to own firearms...It's clear that this is a individual right. The fact that they used the words "the people" again helps to make this clear. If you need more to understand this. Read some of the writings of the the people that made the bill of rights. They were VERY clear on this subject. You don't need a lawyer to figure this out.
I have the right to own, bear, and use firearms. Period.
