  • Great stuff man!

  • @Deathder thanks

  • Yeah! That's the beat!

  • the best cover i ever heard for this song!!!

  • @reser4569 Thanks, you're very encouraging.

  • Good shit man! Spot on :D

  • @bernyyymac Thanks

  • I like your hat. And drumming. Your drumming, oh yes, that is beautiful drumming!

  • @zigzagbawbag Cool thanks, I appreciate that and also the fact that you aren't hypercritical over 4 omitted hi-hat notes on the intro.

  • I love how any time someone dislikes anything they need to open their mind? Anyways, good cover man, intro was a little off its flam, kick, hithat, kick, flam and repeat. Still great though keep drumming man ignore the would be haters who've probably never held a pair of sticks.

  • @gdub19777 Thanks, appreciate your encouragement and support. Yea, I refer to folks like that as "armchair drummers". The omitted hi-hat note is what is known as a "non-essential", the time, groove/feel, musicality of the playing, and the heart/soul of the performance are the essentials.

  • Your Beatles covers are really great! Just one question, which method do you find gives you more time accuracy, heel up or heel down? Sometimes I hit the base drum a second too fast or too slow...

  • @palominorocky

    Heel up, bro.

  • @palominorocky Thank you, appreciate you sharing that. I haven't observed which bass drum technique is more accurate, but I do know that "heel-up" is good for power, and "heel-down" is for quieter dynamics, i.e., I play mostly heel-down with my jazz group, but in church wen I play power ballads and rock, I use heel-up.

  • @rhythmantic Thanks for the reply and the advice!

  • YYYYYYYAAAAAHHHHHHHH dont worry 31 teenagers dont smell her spirits ;) From Argentina

  • Looks like we have 31 angry teenagers.

Most of us adults know you offer skillfully performed covers while paying respect to the original artists.

    Keep up the good work!

  • @foon213 Yes, they probably resent the fact that an older person could play like this, but don't realize that, unlike sports, musicians improve with age. But also there are some who may not like the way I look, my hat, the edrum kit, etc., in other words, dislikes for all the wrong reasons.

  • @foon213 Oh, btw, thanks for watching and for your support and encouragement.

  • Brilliant standard as per usual my good man!

  • @sbbinahee Thanks Paul, for stopping by.

  • All right, 39 dislikes, you know you've hit it big on YT when you get a bunch of those as some of my favorite performances by name musicians that are played very skillfully and soulfully all have dislikes. Thanks folks!

  • at the beginning are you playing flams on the snare followed by the base drum ?

  • @mapexmason98 Yes.

  • you are missing the hi hat notes in the intro, but hey, its a cover, I can see you are doing your interpretation, great job overall

  • @JonathanNevin Thanks, I appreciate your comment & insight on the matter. Those hi-hat notes that I left out are known as what I, and some other YT drummers who cover songs, consider - "None Essentials", which is defined as: "anything that doesn't make or break the groove." If this very intro was played live in a band, will the singer, guitar and bass player or even the audience, miss it, or even know it's missing? No! It only matters to hypercritical armchair drummers.

  • @rhythmantic well, nirvana fans like me will notice, to me they are essential, but hey, overall I'm impressed and I enjoyed the video

  • @antreasdrumer

are you deaf? nothing wrong with 1:54 you complete tool.

  • Are you using the vic firth jojo mayer sticks ? and quality video dude :)

  • @mrkayloves Yes, vic firth jojo mayer sticks, thanks dude.

  • blows just blows hahahahah jk no this drumming is very legit!

  • 1:54 FAIL ! ! !

  • @antreasdrumer Are you sure you're commenting on the right video? The only "Fail" I see is your comment.

  • @rhythmantic well said, he's immature.

  • @antreasdrumer OH MY GOD THE HI HAT SOUNDED A LITTLE WEIRD THE WORLD IS OVER.

99.9% perfect then. Still pretty damn good. Get over it.

  • this is sick. Def some good inspiration

  • How do you do it. Its Just Pure Awesome

  • @Triplegggun Thanks.

  • Great! keep triggering Addictive Drums it's 10000 times better. Try to use in your Beatles or Creedence covers too, using retro adpak.

  • @Zamuraychile Thanks a lot. Most of my Beatles cover use the Ludwig Black or Blue Oyster Pearl kit from the ADpak-Retro. I have all of the ADpaks, including INDIE which is good sounding kit. Thanks for checking out the video.

  • 29 people don't know anything about music even if you put it right in front of them

  • @MikeJamz00 My hunch is that people "dislike" for the wrong reasons.

  • I requested you to do this AFTER you posted, but since you have SO many videos I didn't know

Great job man! I'm doing this for my drum recital later this month, and that really helped

    Keep Rocking your EPICLY AWSOME!

  • @MikeJamz00 Thanks my fellow drummer. You play well too, you have a strong steady beat and your touch and hand movements are right on. (Referencing your cover of Here Comes The Sun)

  • Brilliant, man you rock!

  • @UberMatTuck Thanks, I appreciate it.

  • Nice cover. Enjoyed it. Grohl's drums in the Foo Fighters sound good too.

  • @powergirl901 Thanks. I've covered Everlong and Monkey Wrench and dig Dave's drumming.

  • Nice cover!

  • @drummerkane Thanks, appreciate that coming from a fellow drummer.

  • I'm telling you, you are brilliant!

  • @TangerineWizard123 Gosh, you're very kind. Thanks.

  • @TangerineWizard123 Same here!

  • I think XcrazyraiderX you need to buy ears (40 years guitarist player) be jalous don't help in music ...Open your mind and get a life ...

  • Buy Metronome please

  • @XcrazyraiderX You can't bs me, I've been doing this for too long to know better. You'd have to prove to me with evidence where I'm off track with the recording. Taking sniper shots with nothing to back it up with only makes you look bad to people who know and it's obvious you got a problem and it's not about drumming.

  • @rhythmantic drummer since I was born

  • @XcrazyraiderX I have drummed for 6 months and I know that he is in time! Get a hint kid.

  • @XcrazyraiderX Drummer in a previous life?? :)

  • ah one of my face songs

  • your soooooooooooooooooooooooo good!

  • @joelkindle Thanks.

  • I'm in good company with some of my favorite videos of other drummers who played very well but also had "dislikes".

  • this is awesome man! keep it up

  • @mynameisb4tman Thanks, appreciate you stopping by.

  • nice very nice greetings from greece

  • @kenny123499 Thanks, greetings from California

  • You are the drummer i m searching for jajaj Greetings for Argentina¡¡

  • @lowrider999999 Cool, man, thanks, appreciate it!

  • Best cover I´ve seen so far :)

  • @HOREO45 Wow, thanks for sharing, appreciate it.

  • perfect :D

  • @RebornDrummerz thanks

  • Sal, do you have this drumtrack on your pc (i have reaper and AD)? I'd like to do a collaboration cover!

  • @daanvanderspek Will you be doing the vocals and bass and all the audio & video production?

  • @rhythmantic I won't be doing the vocals, but I will do guitar bass audio video yes.

  • @daanvanderspek @Rhythmanticm i could sing it and/or play guitar if you want to of course :)

  • @potiwe well if you could sing ;)

  • @daanvanderspek Sure! Send me the track...

  • @potiwe i will start the guitar track tonight, the bass track gonna be this weekend.

@rhythmantic do you also charge fees for collab. covers?

  • @daanvanderspek Ok thanks :)

  • @potiwe will upload it later on!

  • Always top covers!

  • @KarateDrum Thanks.

  • Love the fact that you tipped your hat back for this song :D

  • @zouru Thanks for viewing.

  • What kit is that? May I ask?

  • @zigzagbawbag Please refer to my channel page for that info, thanks

  • 1 word..... perfect!

  • @supercava Thanks a lot.

  • nirvana is good

  • Nice one. If you could ever find the time to put a cover on here of Riverboat Song by Ocean Colour Scene and then let me know, i would be forever gratfeul!

  • @Czagio2006 Thanks. Checked out that song, very good one and fabulous sounding band. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Best Smells like teen Spirit cover on youtube!!

  • @daanvanderspek Very kind of you. Thanks.

  • Very nice cover! I just have one question whats the addictive drums thing? I have read about that in several vids but am not quite sure if its just the sound or something different.

  • @Togagiga Thanks a lot. Best way to learn about AD is check out XLNaudio's videos here on YT. Basically it's well known brand of acoustic drums recorded in an actual recording studio and sampled, It's a plug-in software that runs in a DAW host such as Logic, GarageBand, Pro Tools, etc and is triggered by any edrum kit that has MIDI.

  • @rhythmantic Thanks a lot

  • exellent o.O you best drumer in the world and more for the songs of the beatles

  • @Yolz18 Gracias!

  • you really are an all timers drummer!

  • @mahasurya I do appreciate you stopping by and checking out my covers. Thanks.

  • That's OK!

  • like that hat :)

  • spot the ipod if anyone can find it il put up a kool vid on my channel

  • Just wondering, is that 'southern' mat thing behind you a 'southern comfort' beer mat? awesome beer :D + respect for this vid, (thumbs up)

  • @lmnllouis No it's not, it's my wife's embroidery, it's a seed company. Thanks for checking this out.

  • You look like you have been playing for a long time. Great cover.

  • @BrianBhalla Thank you, yes, it's been many decades now that I've been drumming, PTL. Appreciate you checking this out.

  • YOU'RE FUCKIN AMAZING OH MY FUCKIN GOD

  • @lucasmfrugiuele You're amazing too with your comment, thank you, I appreciate your appreciation of my playing, You know I got to tell you, either I get people like your self who enjoy the drumming on this song or guys who criticize me for leaving out the hi-hat in the intro, so thanks man.

  • lol from the thumb nail picture i was like, "what does this asshole kid think hes doing, playing nirvana on rock band drums calling it a cover" then i was like, "ohhhh electric drums ok" ;P

  • YOU.ARE.GOD!

  • @ichabod09 Thanks. I wonder why this cover is getting so many views lately?

  • @rhythmantic well ya gotta remember.....not every kid out their listens to that crap noises with a drum beat they call music today...alot of people are still huge fans of nirvana and smells like teen spirit is their most famous song....and drumming to it and putting it on youtube is pretty cool.....oh and by the way...im 13 and i know all this

  • @ichabod09 Thanks for sharing that insight. It's comforting to know that there are young folks who recognize heartfelt and soulful music played by musicians all together in the same room without any digital doctoring such as Pro Tooled cut & pasting, and/or vocal enhancers/correcting thereby producing a factory conveyor-belt product created not solely by musicians but by audio engineers/producers slated for mass consumption.

  • @rhythmantic exacttly...sorry if this sounds random but what kind of drumset do you use?

  • @ichabod09 No prob, You'll find that info on my channel page.

  • @rhythmantic i also noticed in your videos you have alot of the beatles covers...which is great because im the biggest beatles fan in my entire school....teachers and kids

  • awesome

  • It's not perfect but I like seing 'old' dudes listening to Nirvana :)

  • @LarsAnderssonMusic Nothing this side of heaven is perfect. Of course when I first heard this song and liked it I was about 20 years younger. Thanks for watching, I like your 2 videos- you're a very talented player, very good quality video production too.

  • Great cover, and awesome sounds there from Addictive Drums. I use a TD-20X and have just bought SSD Drums. What do you use to record, Reaper?

  • @TheMrchrisk76 Thanks a lot. I use Logic Studio 9 going through an Apogee Ensemble firewire audio interface. Steven Slate Drums is due for the 4.0 release in about a month, looking forward to hearing the upgraded kits.

  • Woulda been slightly more epic without Notes.

    Still is awesome anyway

  • @SkarmoryHunter I wasn't reading a chart if that's what you're saying, that's just some practice text on the music stand, I think it was Advanced Funk Drumming by Jim Payne. I've learned to remove the music stand from my videos because I get requests for the "tabs" very often. Thanks and for watching.

  • @rhythmantic

    Oh, okay.

That would do it. Still impossible to see what it says on the chart for me. Then that makes it even more awesome. Reading fake notes while playing something else. Great work!

  • @SkarmoryHunter Thank you, but I'm not reading anything, I play these tunes from memory. I've only used a chart on about a couple of tunes and those were covers of Jimi Hendrix.

  • very good job dude, one of the best covers on youtube

  • @serby99 Thank you and for commenting.

  • good job old man

  • Amazing cover!

  • @MrXBJonte Thank you.

  • Wow nice cover man! I play this song to, love the feel of yours though :)

  • @Delusion97 Hey thanks, appreciate your comments and for checking it out.

  • @rhythmantic No problem, from watchin your other vids you are by far one of the best drummers I have seen :)

  • @Delusion97 Thanks so much, I appreciate your encouraging comment and for watching my videos.

  • @rhythmantic I was watching all your Beatles vids and then I came across this. I love the Beatles but Dave Grohl is my favorite drummer. Well done on this one man.

  • @JefferstChmilst Thanks, appreciate you checking out my videos and for the compliment.

  • You play this better than Grohl my man.

  • @michaelspadaro6 Thanks, that's very nice of you to say so especially in light of receiving comments that I did not exactly parrot Dave's part. I don't think Dave could parrot his part if he were to do a cover. Thanks again, appreciate it.

  • Since this video was posted almost a year ago, I don't think this will really matter any more, but I do want to mention the fact that during the chorus, the first 8 bars don't have a crash on every beat; it's only a hi-hat hit. It's during the last 4 bars where the crash comes in. Cycle to about 1:10, and you can hear that there's only a crash cymbal on the beginning of each beat: watch?v=jwCe8sgS1EU

Spectacular job otherwise, Dave Grohl is a superb rock drummer and you covered this song well.

  • @Shockwave109 A good cover contains an expression that isn't found in the original that doesn't take away from the groove or song. What played works to make this song move. It's rhythmically and metrically in line with the rhythm of the song. A good example is this are the covers that The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and other artists have done. There is no sense in covering a song if one is completely paroting the original. Thank you for a detailed critique and for checking this out.

  • que buen rendimiento de usted amigo eso si es hacerlo bien.

  • @napsterr99 Gracias!

  • Is it the TD12 with added tom and cymbal? I used to have the TD12, regret selling it. Super nice kit.

  • @ronnysoeberg No, I added the 4th tom and 2nd crash cymbal. I upgraded to TDW-20 and a VH-12 hi-hat.

  • sexy kit dude, and nice cover, but its so conventional, why not hit some unique fills or switch it up a bit, then again i can tell that wasnt the intention of the video, im subbin :)

  • @Ethiokarate1 Thanks. Well yes, that's another approach to doing covers is to play it like you're the original drummer on the session. There are some covers I've done we're I'll stay faithful to the original drumming but add a little of me self in the mix, however, it's always my feel even if it's the same as the record 'cause that's got to be real otherwise there's no sense in parroting. Thanks for watching.

  • Awesome!

  • @christy05h Thanks, appreciate you stopping by and checking it out.

  • You are truely awsome! I am a begginer drummer myself started drumming like 2 monthes ago ish and was wondering if you can help me I am trying to do this song but I just cant get my leg to do that triple bass in the song that quickly any tips?

  • @Dude2010xXx thanks. Just isolate what pattern you're trying play and make it an exercise where you continually repeat it until it becomes second nature starting at a tempo that you can play it. Then gradually up the tempo as you master the pattern at the previous tempo. Use a metronome/drum machine. Hope that helps.

  • great cover but in intro you need to play on hi hat not on chrash ;)

  • @vjeko004 Thanks. And why would I have to do that?

  • brilll man rock!!!!!

  • @paulmcdrum Thanks a lot.

  • hey man I watched some of your videos and hands down youre a great drummer but I think you missed the hihats on that intro fill!

  • @rhythmantic yes i actually did catch the Letterman show. I'm amazed what he can do and I play Rush alot when i'm practicing, Neil's playing has pushed me to become a better drummer and I wouldn't be this far along in 11 month's if it wasn't for him. I like that you are open to different kinds of music and don't judge any song just because it's by a certain artist. You seem like a real genuine guy who just loves music and i respect you highly.

  • Hey, i love your vids and i've subscribed. Dave Grohl and Ringo are 3 and 2 on my favorite drummers list. My favorite is Neil Peart and i was wondering what you think about his drumming.

  • @speakwordsfoo Great, thanks. I love Neal's playing. I covered my 1st Rush tune yesterday, it's a cover of a cover. But I want to do: Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Subdivisions, & New World Man. Have you seen Neil play on the Letterman Show this week? It's Drum Solo week on the show and Neil was featured, you got to see his drum kit. saw Rush in concert back in the late 1970s.

  • @rhythmantic I saw Rush live on March 30. It changed my life forever. Neil Peart is amazing!

  • This is good to watch, when you need to see how to play a cover! Keep it up man, I wish you took requests.....

  • @CrazzzyKevin Thank you. It's always good to hear that my videos serve other drummers. If you're looking for a cover use the Search engine at the top of my channel page, most folks don't know about that feature, not knowing I've already covered something they want to request, you may find what you want to request. Thanks for watching.

  • excuse me sr. are those pads' texture kind of the same as the acoustic ones? Because the roland td 4 has like a different kind of snare texture.. Are those pads solid? thank you very much.

  • @hollywoodcandids They are not solid but are mesh heads manufactured by Remo, and because they are made by Remo, they have a feel very similar to acoustic drum heads. They can be tightened or loosened just like a regular drum head. Much better than playing solid rubber.

  • @rhythmantic thank you very much! I asked you because last week i played a roland td 4 and the snare was like a mesh texture..not that comfortable for me so i was wondering what the td 12 was like =)

Keep on rocking dude, you are aweeeeeeesome!!

    xx, em

  • @hollywoodcandids Very well, you're welcome. Please subscribe if you like.

  • @rhythmantic of course I will my friend!

    regards, em

  • You are a genius with the tecnique, but you don't play the same that Grohl..
