I love how any time someone dislikes anything they need to open their mind? Anyways, good cover man, intro was a little off its flam, kick, hithat, kick, flam and repeat. Still great though keep drumming man ignore the would be haters who've probably never held a pair of sticks.
@gdub19777 Thanks, appreciate your encouragement and support. Yea, I refer to folks like that as "armchair drummers". The omitted hi-hat note is what is known as a "non-essential", the time, groove/feel, musicality of the playing, and the heart/soul of the performance are the essentials.
Your Beatles covers are really great! Just one question, which method do you find gives you more time accuracy, heel up or heel down? Sometimes I hit the base drum a second too fast or too slow...
@palominorocky Thank you, appreciate you sharing that. I haven't observed which bass drum technique is more accurate, but I do know that "heel-up" is good for power, and "heel-down" is for quieter dynamics, i.e., I play mostly heel-down with my jazz group, but in church wen I play power ballads and rock, I use heel-up.
@foon213 Yes, they probably resent the fact that an older person could play like this, but don't realize that, unlike sports, musicians improve with age. But also there are some who may not like the way I look, my hat, the edrum kit, etc., in other words, dislikes for all the wrong reasons.
All right, 39 dislikes, you know you've hit it big on YT when you get a bunch of those as some of my favorite performances by name musicians that are played very skillfully and soulfully all have dislikes. Thanks folks!
@JonathanNevin Thanks, I appreciate your comment & insight on the matter. Those hi-hat notes that I left out are known as what I, and some other YT drummers who cover songs, consider - "None Essentials", which is defined as: "anything that doesn't make or break the groove." If this very intro was played live in a band, will the singer, guitar and bass player or even the audience, miss it, or even know it's missing? No! It only matters to hypercritical armchair drummers.
@Zamuraychile Thanks a lot. Most of my Beatles cover use the Ludwig Black or Blue Oyster Pearl kit from the ADpak-Retro. I have all of the ADpaks, including INDIE which is good sounding kit. Thanks for checking out the video.
@MikeJamz00 Thanks my fellow drummer. You play well too, you have a strong steady beat and your touch and hand movements are right on. (Referencing your cover of Here Comes The Sun)
@XcrazyraiderX You can't bs me, I've been doing this for too long to know better. You'd have to prove to me with evidence where I'm off track with the recording. Taking sniper shots with nothing to back it up with only makes you look bad to people who know and it's obvious you got a problem and it's not about drumming.
Nice one. If you could ever find the time to put a cover on here of Riverboat Song by Ocean Colour Scene and then let me know, i would be forever gratfeul!
Very nice cover! I just have one question whats the addictive drums thing? I have read about that in several vids but am not quite sure if its just the sound or something different.
@Togagiga Thanks a lot. Best way to learn about AD is check out XLNaudio's videos here on YT. Basically it's well known brand of acoustic drums recorded in an actual recording studio and sampled, It's a plug-in software that runs in a DAW host such as Logic, GarageBand, Pro Tools, etc and is triggered by any edrum kit that has MIDI.
@lucasmfrugiuele You're amazing too with your comment, thank you, I appreciate your appreciation of my playing, You know I got to tell you, either I get people like your self who enjoy the drumming on this song or guys who criticize me for leaving out the hi-hat in the intro, so thanks man.

@ichabod09 Thanks for sharing that insight. It's comforting to know that there are young folks who recognize heartfelt and soulful music played by musicians all together in the same room without any digital doctoring such as Pro Tooled cut & pasting, and/or vocal enhancers/correcting thereby producing a factory conveyor-belt product created not solely by musicians but by audio engineers/producers slated for mass consumption.
@rhythmantic i also noticed in your videos you have alot of the beatles covers...which is great because im the biggest beatles fan in my entire school....teachers and kids

@michaelspadaro6 Thanks, that's very nice of you to say so especially in light of receiving comments that I did not exactly parrot Dave's part. I don't think Dave could parrot his part if he were to do a cover. Thanks again, appreciate it.
Since this video was posted almost a year ago, I don't think this will really matter any more, but I do want to mention the fact that during the chorus, the first 8 bars don't have a crash on every beat; it's only a hi-hat hit. @Shockwave109 A good cover contains an expression that isn't found in the original that doesn't take away from the groove or song. What played works to make this song move. It's rhythmically and metrically in line with the rhythm of the song. A good example is this are the covers that The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and other artists have done. There is no sense in covering a song if one is completely paroting the original. Thank you for a detailed critique and for checking this out.
sexy kit dude, and nice cover, but its so conventional, why not hit some unique fills or switch it up a bit, then again i can tell that wasnt the intention of the video, im subbin :)
@Ethiokarate1 Thanks. Well yes, that's another approach to doing covers is to play it like you're the original drummer on the session. There are some covers I've done we're I'll stay faithful to the original drumming but add a little of me self in the mix, however, it's always my feel even if it's the same as the record 'cause that's got to be real otherwise there's no sense in parroting. Thanks for watching.
You are truely awsome! I am a begginer drummer myself started drumming like 2 monthes ago ish and was wondering if you can help me I am trying to do this song but I just cant get my leg to do that triple bass in the song that quickly any tips?
@Dude2010xXx thanks. Just isolate what pattern you're trying play and make it an exercise where you continually repeat it until it becomes second nature starting at a tempo that you can play it. Then gradually up the tempo as you master the pattern at the previous tempo. Use a metronome/drum machine. Hope that helps.
@rhythmantic yes i actually did catch the Letterman show. I'm amazed what he can do and I play Rush alot when i'm practicing, Neil's playing has pushed me to become a better drummer and I wouldn't be this far along in 11 month's if it wasn't for him. I like that you are open to different kinds of music and don't judge any song just because it's by a certain artist. You seem like a real genuine guy who just loves music and i respect you highly.
Hey, i love your vids and i've subscribed. Dave Grohl and Ringo are 3 and 2 on my favorite drummers list. My favorite is Neil Peart and i was wondering what you think about his drumming.
@speakwordsfoo Great, thanks. I love Neal's playing. I covered my 1st Rush tune yesterday, it's a cover of a cover. But I want to do: Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Subdivisions, & New World Man. Have you seen Neil play on the Letterman Show this week? It's Drum Solo week on the show and Neil was featured, you got to see his drum kit. saw Rush in concert back in the late 1970s.
@CrazzzyKevin Thank you. It's always good to hear that my videos serve other drummers. If you're looking for a cover use the Search engine at the top of my channel page, most folks don't know about that feature, not knowing I've already covered something they want to request, you may find what you want to request. Thanks for watching.
excuse me sr. are those pads' texture kind of the same as the acoustic ones? Because the roland td 4 has like a different kind of snare texture.. Are those pads solid? thank you very much.
@hollywoodcandids They are not solid but are mesh heads manufactured by Remo, and because they are made by Remo, they have a feel very similar to acoustic drum heads. They can be tightened or loosened just like a regular drum head. Much better than playing solid rubber.
@rhythmantic thank you very much! I asked you because last week i played a roland td 4 and the snare was like a mesh texture..not that comfortable for me so i was wondering what the td 12 was like =)

Ethiokarate1 5 months ago

Dude2010xXx 5 months ago

My favorite is Neil Peart and i was wondering what you think about his drumming.
speakwordsfoo 8 months ago
@speakwordsfoo Great, thanks. I love Neal's playing. I covered my 1st Rush tune yesterday, it's a cover of a cover. But I want to do: Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Subdivisions, & New World Man. Have you seen Neil play on the Letterman Show this week? It's Drum Solo week on the show and Neil was featured, you got to see his drum kit. saw Rush in concert back in the late 1970s.

@rhythmantic I saw Rush live on March 30. It changed my life forever. Neil Peart is amazing!

This is good to watch, when you need to see how to play a cover! Keep it up man, I wish you took requests.....
CrazzzyKevin 8 months ago
@CrazzzyKevin Thank you. It's always good to hear that my videos serve other drummers. If you're looking for a cover use the Search engine at the top of my channel page, most folks don't know about that feature, not knowing I've already covered something they want to request, you may find what you want to request. Thanks for watching.

excuse me sr. are those pads' texture kind of the same as the acoustic ones? Because the roland td 4 has like a different kind of snare texture.. Are those pads solid? thank you very much.
hollywoodcandids 10 months ago
@hollywoodcandids They are not solid but are mesh heads manufactured by Remo, and because they are made by Remo, they have a feel very similar to acoustic drum heads. They can be tightened or loosened just like a regular drum head. Much better than playing solid rubber.
rhythmantic 10 months ago
@rhythmantic thank you very much! I asked you because last week i played a roland td 4 and the snare was like a mesh texture..not that comfortable for me so i was wondering what the td 12 was like =)
Keep on rocking dude, you are aweeeeeeesome!!
