The republicans criticism of John F. Kennedy is baseless. But the liberals romanticization of JFK is equally baseless. JFK did not care much about the civil rights movement. He was not for peace. He was a war monger who promoted cold war propaganda.

Id recommend reading some of Noam Chomsky's or Howard Zinn's writings about JFK. In a People's History of the US, Zinn details how JFK supported a racist governor in Alabama.

According to Ted's own account of that evening, within 10 mins walk of the site where Ted drove the car off the bridge was a house with a phone that he walked by. If he had called emergency services, and the rescue diver on duty that night publicly stated that he could have been onsite, in the water within 20 mins of that call. His assessment of the crime scene was that Mary Jo Kopechne survived under water for quite some time, as did the autopsy.

His failure to make that call, aside from the fact that he was in a single car accident after eyewitnesses claimed he had been drinking at the party actually add up to at least vehicular manslaughter - hence my calling him a killer. As for being a drunk, he was legendary, if you don't know this, you don't know anything. His family didn't deny it and in his own words he talked uphemistically 'settling' down after marrying his last wife - at the age of 60. He was a pig, lech, drunk and killer.
