  • i cant believe such a beautiful demonstration of synchronized dancing would arouse such anger... forget the names, they're just names yo, and people are people. this dance is dope.

  • To all the idiots who are talking Sh!t about the history of the Tainos on the island of haiti. I put up these videos so you can go educate yourselves about the island of hispaniola's History. Fools!

The Tainos were the indigenous inhabitants of the different tribes in the Caribean islands. Christopher Columbus and the spaniards were nothing more then invaders and murders who robed and killed the indians. Go learn your history and stop hating on the Haitians for knowing their history. Haters!

  • MY RESPECTS TO HAITI, FOR KEEPIN OUR PEOPLES CULTURES ALIVE

  • wa song is dis

  • what the song in this video

  • what kind of music is this

  • I think you have misunderstood the video or you are just not aware of Haiti's history. The island is situated in the Caribbean and it belonged to the Arawaks/ Tainos before europeans invaded, destroyed and brought the Africans. Haitians are very aware of their Native American culture and it is the first thing you are taught in school. They learn about our queen Anacaona, king Caonabo, the culture, the caciques..etc.

  • In Haiti, a beautiful woman is referred to as Anacaona..meaning she is the most beautiful woman in the world. Many places in Haiti still have the Arawak/Taino names : Wahoo bay beach, Kaliko beach, Xaragua etc.Arawaks/Tainos are part of Haitian culture and they have left their mark in the language, the rituals and food.

  • @shirlzny I always wonder how the Taino/Arawak history is maintained in Haiti. I am of Haitian descent, but I rarely hear about the indigenous history. My perception always was more emphasis is place on Haiti's African ancestry (which is absolutely great), but rarely on the Native American aspect.

  • @synthmusic And there are no native indian settlements in Haiti. . The native indians may have lost it all and inter married with the AFRICANS.

  • @shirlzny Africans learning about Indian culture ?

  • @AMERINDIAN1STNATIONS

You know very well that you would not question their action if they were of lighter complexion. It shows your prejudice towards them and what they are doing. I know for a fact that people often question your claim of being descendants of indigenuous indians. Just remember how that feels when people question your claim to be Tainos or Arawaks. Cause i know they do. Don't do onto others what you would not want others do onto you!

  • Hello sir madame but i am confuse say can you explain to me how these are true Arawaks of where in Africa or is it south Africa, excuse me but i am a true Arawak from a true Arawak clan first nations chief can you please give me some more info on these other Arawak living in Africa, why i didn't even know of a Arawak dance in Africa, please educate me here i would deeply appreciate it ...

  • this is filmed at Kanaval 2009 in Port au Prince Haiti. it is a dance paying homage to the original inhabitants of the island of Hispanola.

  • @AMERINDIAN1STNATIONS yes they are in the Caribbean! Being of Arawak decent I thought you'd realise that? They speak French in Haiti as well so maybe that's why you were confused. As modern day Caribbeans they should be paying homage to the original Caribbean settlers and I'm glad to see it is celebrated in the culture. I am of Caribbean decent too but I was born in the UK. I have researched the Caribbean history in nmy spare time as I was interested and discovered Arawak & Carib history...

  • @AMERINDIAN1STNATIOn

Since went do Africans calim to be Arawak. The fact that people of African decent live now on what were the lands of the Arawak people does not make these people Arawaks.Haiti didnot even exsistas a country then..haiti is the result of Spain and France and the conquest...and then African slave revolt.

Haitian prctice African religions and follow the ways of their ancsetors not the ways of Arawak people. This video is offensive and insulting to real native Arwaks.

  • @yabisiaru thank you im also tired of these black people claiming 2 be something their not

  • @miamichick305ify Can't you read?! They are not claiming to be Arawaks! It is a tribute to the original inhabitants of the island. Besides the obvious African physical appearance anybody with ears can hear the African influence in the music and see the African "bounce" in the dance.

  • @luvureally bitch i dont need 2 read ive met many blacks dat claim 2 be amerindian n dat shit pisses me off n these blacks dressed in fake native costumes will never bring da beauty back of da arawaks diz nasty slaves have killed da beauty of da caribbean wit dey african shit

  • @miamichick305ify Flat ass, spongebob square pants shaped troll it is a t-r-i-b-u-t-e (look the word up) to the original inhabitants of the island. They are not claiming Arawak ancestry. They are acknowledging the people that were there first! Funny how you no rhythm, square back, no dancing trolls have no problem proclaiming the music & dance created by "nasty slaves" - cumbia, Afro-Cuban, salsa, merengue, punta, reggaeton, when it suits you. Stick to that accordion polka circus shit!

  • @luvureally u aint neva seen ma ass so y should i be offended

  • @miamichick305ify Your square backed, pumpkin head ass is using all kinds of "nasty slave" slang!

  • @luvureally go suck a dick

  • @yabisiaru VERY correct and a disgrace to the AFRICANS of Haiti..

  • @AMERINDIAN1STNATIONS Many Caribbeans these days claim to be either ARAWAK or Caribe indian. They are just ashame of their AFRICAN root.

  • @Killayut I dont think thats true. Before our blood was united when the Spaniards brought the African slaves with them, we were Arawak/Caribe Indian. I personally embrace the African roots as well because I am what I am. I think if there are people who are selective they shouldn't be. We should embrace everything that makes us what we are.

  • @todei79 I lived in Haiti and yes I saw a few native indians but these people doing the Caribe thing are not the indians. Its just like black people doing some Chinese things.

  • @Killayut :

What many of you failed to understand about this dance, is the fact that the Haitians are taking time out at the begining of their carnaval festival to pay tribute to the original inhabitant of the land. They do the dance as a sign of respect and rememberance of the Tainos and the Arawaks which were the original inhabitant of the island. Yes there are still some native indians in Haiti Contrary to what you guys might think!

  • @todei79 There is nothing ARAWAK in any Haitian. . Haitians are infact the purest AFRICAN LOOKING people in the CARIBBEAN. That I know very well cos I lived there for a while.

  • @AMERINDIAN1STNATIONS There are no ARAWAK or Indians natives in AFRICA.
