I loved watching the guy over the years, he could torture an airframe unlike any other. Jim was always the centerpiece of the shows for me. You couldn't watch one of his shows without smiling and shaking your head.
I was at Dayton for his final show. Watching that accident shook me up pretty badly... I haven't been to an air show since
True! a great pilot and years of entertainment doing what he loved. With ALL DUE RESPECT the GREATS dont die in accidents due to judgement errors. The GREATS are the guys that still do it day in and day out.
To say one man is better than another is crazy. You should enjoy them all for as long as you can. Jim Leroy was taken from us along with a long list of others. It is a high risk thing for them to go up for us and be thankfull that they do.
I'm pretty sure I can do that if I get my lungs back to where they can breath right under 3sec/90deg turns. Pressure would be my issue. Party dudes all the way, some amazing people.
Jim Leroy and Jimmy Franklin are both in the video. They were one of a kind. I remember meeting Jimmy Franklin in Iowa in 88 and 89 at a r/c airshow where Franklin put on a sweet full scale show. I saw the bulldog for the first time in 02 i think at thunder in the valley in columbus ga. both will be missed
The maker of this video did an excellent job with a killer background song. Jim Leroy was and alway will be a huge inspiration to all of us aviation enthusiast out there.
I was the one that talked jim into using van halen into his flying video years ago. We used to chat online at night and we bs about many things. Politics at oshkosh, his dog other people in the industry. Jim was a down to earth guy. Too bad he had to leave joan and jr. so soon. It was a sad day to see my friend leave.Tucker is fun to watch but Jim was like watching a wild animal be tame for a few mins and do sweet tricks.
i went to Eaa today and sadly jim wasnt there ..to the day of his accident..u r truely missed JIM ..SEMPER FI..I KNW UR STILL FLYING UP THERE..PEACE AND LOVE..
Yall want a long and safe career in aviation? I stress to you one word and one ideology that kept me totally accident and incident free until 9/11:SAFETY, SAFETY and SAFETY. Even as an airshow performer you have to stress that everyday you fly..... or else it's the law of averages knocking at your door one day.
Im a pilot who goes to indiana state I also work at a intl airport where jim leroy attended 3 years in a row infact his next show was going to be at are airport we had the billboards up everywhere on the highways and he died the weekend before so we had to go around and take them all down Ive talked to him many times real down to earth guy huge loss to the pilot community
This is what I was telling my mom. The Show in Bagtoville was great, but most of it it was all because of Jim and without him, it really won't be the same :(
I went to Quebec Airshow in 2006, and the weather was so bad that most of the planes were grounded. But Jim took off and did his show anyway. He practically saved the whole airshow that day. I'll never forget it. Rest in peace Jim Leroy.
Jim was such a fantastic man and AMAZING pilot... it is always such a sad day when the aerobatic community loses one of it's own... much love Jim. Hope you are flying high in the sky.
Very excellent video I had the pleasure to fly with Jim. Very excellent pilot. Wow my eyes are filled with tears right now. Great Job "birdsofmetal" . It is true to Jim.

plutonze, so Jim was the only one who took off that day to save the Airshow at Quebec, 2006 when no one else had the guts.
Well that reminds me of an old airman's proverb.
How's that saying go, say it with me land lubbers: There are old pilots, there are bold pilots but there are no old bold pilots.
