  • saulo is cool as fuk

  • I love having a Brazilian Coach, Same accent.

    Ohh, I afraid, for armbar...

    Go Chris, Go... Let's Go..

    See guys, no have problem.

  • Look how educated am I!

  • Lol! 4:25. " Go for the armolck! Its nothing."

  • OUTSTANDING...Great technique here, can't wait to try this! Thank You!

  • this is the greatest way to break the guard that i've seen

  • How would you do this without a gi? Where would the left hand (the arm which uses the elbow to control the body) be?

  • Some people are great at Jiu Jitsu but don't know how to teach. Saulo Ribeiro is not only great but an amazing teacher. I bought his book years back and helped me improve big time. The guy is amazing, I hope he gets down to my area one of these days and does a seminar.

  • Beautifully simple pass - Saulo is an incredible practitioner

  • As a complete beginner I must try this!! Saulo's teaching seems very simple to follow! Can't wait to give it a go!! Cheers

  • I love his "nothing" - 4:26 , however he is great :)

  • ever since I seen this video i've opened everyones guard effortlessly first try using this simple movement, amazing!

  • Awesome!

  • Saulo is the man

  • Hey guys I wanna ask something about his "Jiu jitsu university" book,me and a friend of mine wanna start training and i've stopped my mind on this particular book,i wanna ask if it's good for no-gi training...

  • @Tigarapld

Since it was two months ago you've probably already decided, but his book is entirely based on the gi

  • That was just amazing. So much attention to detail, and so much finesse.

  • I have learnt more in this video than in 4 years training on this position. Awesome instruction.

  • maestro

  • LOVE IT...

like he said.. jj isnt about strenght its about technique....

im usually rolling with stronger guys... so using str is useless and just weakening me...

  • LONG LIVE SAULO RIBERIO

  • "yuh don wan that happen" LMAO

great video I use it later :D

  • this guy is a very good teacher, the technique is amazing, thanks alot for uploading

  • whats this guard pass called, cheers

  • I have been doing it wrong the whole time and i didn't know it

  • crap i just pressed the dislike button by accident

  • I think I am going to try it. Lokks pretty good. I am just a beginner in bjj, tnx 4 this video.

  • i love this guy

  • I've just started doing jujitsu, but I'm already having problems with the beginner guard pass where you push down on the opponents knees. So far it's rarely worked. I'll definitely give this move a try.

  • Thank You from Houston,Tx. I train at Gracie Barra. I will use this

  • just bought the book

  • Killer techniques displayed here by a true champion but he does't actually pass the guard. The tittle should be, "Breaking the closed guard".

  • @kanguesso He shows passes later on. Not going to give you everything in a promotional clip.

  • @KJGould Din't know that my friend, thanks.

  • I train at Marcelo Garcia NYC, I have Demian Maia Dvd set 1and 2

but ........ Jiu Jitsu University book has really helped my game. best money to spend on a jiu jitsu book. His style is unique, very smart guy. No wonder he and his brother are so good

  • Wow..just amazing

  • @nighthawke2 true man thanks alot. im a white bealt so this technique has helped me alot. just against bigger guys they seem to grap my lapel and i keep em down but its tough. i try to keep the elbow in and the hand straight to pressure his belly.

  • what if the guy on the ground graps your lapel and he pulls himself up. and brings you down

  • "And look how safe am I, Pull Chris...." (chills)

  • Two people don't have a good closed guard.

  • "It's nothing" Hahaha I love how he said that. Saulo is amazing.

  • Woah... that was...wow

  • hehe he reminds me of antonio banderas

  • What if, when you step back to create space they go for the scissor sweep or something similar?

  • can't wait to do that tomorrow, during the training!

  • This is awesome teaching!!!

  • ....BUT SAULO

  • Sweet I'm gonna try this next time I'm in class.

  • I love his swagger. That quiet confidence is awesome. "Go Chris...It's nothing. Go Chris go...go" He just sits there looking bored. You see this same swagger in some of his matches too. He's on a whole other level. So great.

  • @spyu I know what you mean, I like the way he wipes his nose like, "yeah, I'll wait."

  • Tried it. Works way better then the traditional method for me.

Thanks a lot for the video. Really helped my game.

  • So simple so effective can't wait to try it tomorrow :)

  • Comment removed

  • seems interesting. i'm gonna give it a shot next time I roll

  • passing the guard has always been a problem for me... until now! Thanx Saulo!

  • this is one of the best "passing the guard" videos

  • but can anyone tell me, what happens if the guy is real strong, keeps his close guard tight and then whenever you circle with your leg, he lifts his hips upwards preventing you from breaking the guard? hips are stronger then arms and therefore I cannot keep him down

  • @pbfedorov

Try planting your knee under his butt (not the center, but on that side - so if you are circling your left leg out and he bridges, plant your right knee under that side of his butt) and just wait.

When he stops bridging, try to get your knee higher so that knee's foot is flat on the floor. That should restrict his hips and allow you to better control him.

  • @pbfedorov Got the same question. I am also concerned about being swept. There is one guy who wears shorts not pants and he is tough to pin his leg down with my arm to get past his leg. I will try this method to see how it works. Let me know if you get an answer to someone whose legs are super strong.

  • dude this technique is awesome!

  • I like more the simple moves. Yes, they look simple but 90% of the time these "simple" or basic moves are the most effective.

  • Saulo is so sick. He totally chages the game.

  • great stuff

  • Saulo Ribeiro is so Freaking good at explaining technique to its easy to comprehend.... I I wish I lived in his area so I could train at the University of Jujitsu. Get his book called Jujitsu University if your just starting out and you won't regret it......

  • @staff72 i have trained there, un Fucking believable how insane it is and how good of a teacher Saulo is. Loved every minuete of it, if u ever get the chance to come to San Diego I hope to see u there

  • @staff72 I second the book recommendation. Worth a million bucks!

  • @staff72 where does he teach?

  • @punisher00109 University of Jiu Jitsu in San Diego is the RJJA main school. But, Cris Blanke (the other gent in the video) Is based out of Toledo, Ohio.

  • Excellent technique and basics.

  • All the stuff I was missing...sweet.
