Really superb classy look at the 20s! Im marveling at the tone quality! The Columbia records of Reisman are amazing. The 20s are here to stay, with your sensational videos! Im wild about this number, and his 1927 Columbia 78 of 'Cause I feel lowdown"! 20s hotcha all the way! Great vid! You make the 20 look like an intoxicating era.
It is pieces like this delicious upbeat offering that cements Reisman as one of the greats of the 20s and 30s. If you want to set your toes to tapping, punch up another Reisman recording and you're there.
Good old Bye Bye Blackbird and wonderful clothes that were so feminine and so masculine at the same time. Look at the woman in jacket and tie at 0:32.
I remember once seeing a movie from the late '20s with a music sound track (can't remember the name); "Bye Bye Blackbird" was playing in the background of a picnic or outdoor party scene. The song seemed to me to really convey the spirit of the era, in a slightly nostalgic way.
"Make my bed/& light the light/ I'll be home late tonight..." Absurd lyrics, but this is a sophisticated version of the perky old song. On second thought, am I missing some hidden meaning of "blackbird?"
