Glad to see another North Carolinian catchin gar. I doubt you know where rocky river is, because it looks more like a creek, but yesterday i saw a three foot long one swimmin in a hole that i used to swim in. so just asking, what did ya catch him with?
i think i need to start recording my fishing sessions because today we had a gar (not sure the type) i think it was a gator gar but anyways it was longer than my bro who is 4' 9" and it was huge. the weird thing is it didn't fight much
I caught one by accident off shore once this summer in montreal. it was a lot larger than that.... If that was 12.3. I swear mine had to be 20lbs easy. Is that heavy for gar? apparently it's a protected species
Pshhhhh Yeah 20lbs my ass, more like 8 - 11 lbs .Good luck catching a 20lbs Long nosed gar. But good vid, nice gar also.

@flipafloppin most of the time we end up foul hooking them where they smack at the plug and miss it and just get hooked.

@hondahp18 in north carolina they are in the lakes and here they are not protected.... but 20 lbs is heavy for a long nose gar.
