In conclusion, skiing is easier to learn the basics and snowboarding is harder to learn basics but skiing is alot harder to master (In freestyling, race,etc.) and snowboard is easier to master. Skiing is harder to make tricks look smooth and snowboarding normally looks smooth. I "Personally" (that means dont say shit bout me) think that skiing looks better if done properly and its more extreme than snowboarding since it gets more speed (= more airborne) increasing the stakes of getting hurt.

it's all about progression- guys like Chas and Torstein have got 1260's dialled, so now they're bumping it up to the next level. the style will come, then progress to the next level. it'd be boring if you stomped everything out first time!

Well, technically, snowboarding has been around longer than skiing. People no doubt tried standing on sleds instead of sitting on them, long before skiis where around. Ski's were merely the first marketed product for riding down a hill while standing. As they grew in popularity, people started to makes boards to use, and thus came snowboarding into the mainstream.

its one of the first 1440's ever landed on a snowboard, its not like its gonna be perfect, theres gonna be arms flailing when you spin that fast, its probably the only way to make the rotation of a jump like that
