  • I have 2 this engine for sale!

  • I have that same engine it was given to me by my tech teacher so i could fix it it looks exactly the same except it has a gold finish.Glad I found out what it is. How old is that model engine and how do you remove the top of the cylinder?

  • @andyboy4707 just unscrew it but if its too hard by hand then you have to make a tool your self or use pair of vice grips and rag to undo it

  • i dont have the fuel for mine what could i use or were can i get the fuel from

  • @TOPGEARisC00L you can use 10% up to 25% percent and fel with 20% percent caster oil, usually u can by these a local hobby shops and the sell mixed fuel ready to use i perfer 15%

  • Estimado, una consulta, que tipo de combustible utiliza.? ya que adquirí uno de estos en una venta de bodega sin catalogo.

    Saludos desde Chile.

Estimated, a consultation, which type of fuel uses.? Since I acquired one of these in a sale of warehouse without catalogue. Regards from Chile.

  • where can i get one

  • Hah, and they said one couldn't make an engine that small.

    Yeah right.

  • wow isn't that cool! .020... never seen one. Sounds great!

  • BEST KEYCHAIN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I flew a RC plane with one 35 years ago. Still have the engine.

  • I have 30 like this but i don't have the tools for work whit this motors... where i can find the tools on line?.

  • @BioTechMx you have 30 of these engines? ill buy some

  • @30GB I live in Mexico... You can buy some one on the USA... or not?

  • @BioTechMx same here I want one!

  • @BioTechMx ebay, coxengines.ca or vintage glow engines have them from time to time if you are still looking for them

  • @BioTechMx then you have about 3 grand's worth of these things...

  • Comment removed

  • lol the glow plug ignitor is almost the same size as the head itself

  • @balls2yourface It is the head!

  • Had one of those on a FF golber Ranger (30 was it.....sheet balsa wing with lots of dihederal). I only got a couple of flights out of it, then couldn't get engine to run. I found it the other evening....should clean it out and see if she'll go. Even found a new 4(?)x 2(?) prop for it....metallic silver, they were easy to bust as I recall.

  • @gumbykevbo might be the copper reed thats bad. Try to get some newer plastic or steel reed on ebay like i did because my copper one almost rotted away and was not sealing well

  • @30GB That's possible, though the last time it ran it ran the tank out. I never lost a bronze .049 reed on hundreds of flights, ruined a few when cleaning engines though. Most likely culprit was a little piece of grass or suchlike under the reed. Anyone know what thickness mylar and/or PTFE would be appropriate for .020 reeds? Oh yeah, that was a Carl Goldberg plane...golber....heh!

  • very cool lil engine, must be tiny control line plane for that!

  • Nice! I've been in the RC addiction for ages. A few years back my Dad gave me a 50yr old Cox .049. I cleaned the dirt out and she fired right up! (via the original glow-head, lol) I had no suitable props but actually had it turning a wooden 10x6, LOL. (I know, that's a sure way to burn it up but was all I had) Being full-throttle only, she was spinning so slow you could count the blade rotations, but it swung it like a champ! haha.

  • @Tinytacohead ROFL i would love to see that

  • @30GB Try it sometime. We finally got bored waiting for it to die & stopped it by grabbing a blade. :)

  • what fuel are you using???

  • I have a engine like this for 32 years ago on my first airplane. I think its 32 yr ago i,m not 100% sure

  • i think these are cool as hell lol

  • so it doesn't have throtteling?

  • Can I start it just with a battery?

  • what do you mean just the battery? No you need gas to make it run

  • Yes, thats clear :) I mean a battery for the glow

  • i need a glow head for mine, where do i get one?

  • ebay

  • thanks. i wonder what the hp is on these little 0.020's lol

  • ive got one that has not been started in 50 years and i want to start it and i have been told it runs on diesel and caster oil but im not sure of the ratio

  • wow it must be sized by then you need to completely take it apart and clean before you run it and if it has like a adjustable top screw then it can run on diesel if not then its nitro

  • yeah its got the prop screw and its made out of brass i looked inside and every thing is tip top but im scared to start it because im not sure of the fuel mix and i dont want to ruin it ill post a video so you can see what it looks like

  • perhaps not nitro, but methanol! Dont strain the little jewel, if its not made for the hot stuff!

  • yea i only ran it 8 tanks so far since i got it but i got a new parts for it like plastic reed, glow head and gasket also new prop

  • i know this sounds stupid but would your featured engine run diesel?

  • nope i have to buy a diesel head for it to make it run on diesel

  • You need at last 5% or more Nitromethane and a lot of Lubrication (about 20% Castor Oil)

    to run these small Motor.

  • you can call that a cold start xD

  • where do you put the fuel??

  • ill post a vid and the one you got is a .049 not .020 mine is very small size of a index finger yours as about size of your thumb

  • Just a general response to the video. From memory you just need to go to a model shop and buy nitro model fuel with 10-15% nitro and it. Castor oil fuel is a bit better if its an old engine for its first few runs, same with running it in (bit like a car with mineral vs synthetic oil). Once it's been run in then fuels with synthetic in them ought to be able to cut it.

  • tell me more about this motor man what fuel does it run on?do u have aim or msn?add me pls i have some questions

  • dude try to find websites on these engines lol google is the best way just type in "cox .020 info" and it should show you stuff on them thats how i got some of my info from

  • do you use premixed or do you mix it yourself

if it is premixed what brand is it?

  • the one i got dont work as well because it has too much oil or something but works great in bigger engines try to get air plane fuel or google what type cox engines take

  • it sais use cox fuel....

but how do i get that fuel in holland.....

    that would be imposible.

  • do you have to oil it ? like everytime and the outside too>?

  • no oil is already with the fuel

  • where si this engine getting fuel from???

  • there is a small tank thats behind the engine and the carb is inside it too its pritty cool mini tank but can only run for like 3 min or so

  • thnx

  • thats a cox for ya. i pulled out a .049 i havent ran in about a year, all i did was put on a new plug, needle, and spring and prop, and it fired right up!

  • Holy crap! I have a engine almost exactly like that. Bought it at a hobby shop a year ago.

  • i also started some engines that were from my auncle...and they worked prety well ,, they were also from about 20 years ago!

  • were can u get one and could they go in little model cars becaus that would be awsome like a rc boat

  • they do have some for .049 car like tether cars and boats but they are rare now very hard to find

  • i bought a car with a 0.49 engine

    what fuele do you use

  • How long can you expect a little engine like this to last?

  • from new like i think 100 tanks or more i dont know lol but this engine is keped since its old and rare in the future

  • where do you get these motorvery cheap

  • its about $30 on ebay

  • ohh

  • Beautiful...

  • Nice work on the rebuild. Engine runs great and sounds good. Your description needs to be changed, this engine is a .020 Pee Wee. .010 Tee Dee was only available with a front crank valve throttle, the .020 you have is a rear reed valve with a mixture screw. Great find, supplies have run out on these engines.

  • That's pretty cool. So it's an engine for a little plane?

  • yes the engine is small but it gose on a 2 foot wide plane its a powerfull little engine even stronger than a expensive pc fan

  • Hmm... pretty cool!
