  • Small thing that annoys me....

    "This is a Japanese Izakaya..."

What? As opposed to a Polish Izakaya?

  • When you look at the Menu, how do you know the Price of the Food you like do you have a video on Pricing food On the Menu THanks

  • chicken cheese thing..

    また行きたくなってきた・・(;◔ิ з◔ิ)

  • Very nice sir. I love the traditional Japanese building. It completes something in my soul if that makes any sense.

  • A question the text on menu's, signs & literature in what are they written ? Is it Kanji or Katakana ?

  • @leesandro It's pretty much a mix, but the menu at 1:18 was written mostly in kanji (the Chinese-looking characters) and the menu at 1:26 seemed to be a mix of hirigana and katakana. Hope I helped. :)

  • @Nat4Brendan Thank you for your reply and I wish all the best for Japan and the people who have been personally effected by the hit. May everybody in the world forget about the bad past and unite as one, like we say in Aruba we are all cousins descendent from the same roots so respect, honer a love one another. And I wish to live in Japan someday because they have the same basic ways of life and my love for all that is Japan has never faded and I would like to thank you for all your video's :)

  • @leesandro You're welcome. And yes I agree with everything you said, couldn't have said it better really. I can't tell you how much I want Japan to survive this.

  • reminds me of spirited away :)

  • Tepasaki sounds awesome.

  • What are the prices in traditional Japanese Izakaya?

I think "Dango" is rice cake.

  • Chicken balls!? dontcha mean rooster balls!? lol. Loved the food suspended in the gelatin. Great vid as always! By the way. how's the wedding coming along Ray? Must be getting close, eh!?

  • @Vinniebearinpa umm... i think most times in east asia when we say balls, it's usually just minced meat rolled into a ball shape, if it's testes/testicles, that's what'll go on the menu... or actually, i've also seen chicken male, chicken sperm sacs, chicken's sons, ...

  • eeeerm... yumyyyyy?! xD

  • Kids love the beans and chicken jello.

  • @ExplosiveBoring

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom haha i can only imagine

  • I LOVE grilled unagi (eel). Mmmm!!!

  • OISHII!!!!!!!!

  • One thing I still can't believe though, is that some Izakayas serve raw chicken... :S

  • For sure if you visit Japan, one night eat at Izakaya- really nothing like it anywhere else!

  • 2:28 hotwings??

    P.S. Great job as always!

  • tebasaki!!

  • the pictures on the menu looked quite good, but..chicken gelatin with green beans? what it looked like to me..

Regardless will definitely want to stop by one of these when i visit japan!

  • Interesting! I will definitely watch all the instructional videos before my first trip to Japan.

  • Hmm I know this might be a little offtopic but how would it be if I wanted to go visit Japan? For like a week for vacation? Like any info regarding that, please :D

  • @ChaoticSins Check out Japanchannel (dot) com tis a good website for all that information. First though, apply for a passport and a visa.

  • @infantrypfc Oooh thank you :D

  • Thumbs up for making me hungry

  • okay i can get this out my head clear this up: is that traditional chicken balls with batter and chicken inside or ( i apologizes if this is inaproperate) Chicken "Balls"? other then that gelltin, look tasty D:

  • It looked like a nice and relaxed environment. The gelatin food is kinda scary though. xD

More videos like this would be fun. :)

  • I'm so hungry...

  • how much do you spend on a normal meal for 2? like with and entree , the meal and a desert nothing to extravagant.

  • @0Xorcista0 Izakaya is type of a bar with a lot of bar foods, so no entrees and deserts like restaurants.Price are very cheap, nothing like typical Japanese bars that has many young girls.

  • Five stars for--- oh wait ... Thumbs up for making me hungry! :-D

  • Yummy I would definitely eat anything on that table! Great video!

  • This is really interesting! Thanks! I'm very curious about food in Japan and would love to see more about that - especially, how it is handeled in every-day-live (You know: not the real fancy stuff, but the things japanese people really do eat and/or prepare themselves) - I loved the (unfortunately very short) video about onigiri! ^_^

It seems, it is more common to order small portions of various dishes (not one big dish like I know it from Europe...) - I love that! Great for trying out a lot!

  • Now that is some cool Sh@t! Just another awesome video, keep up the good work!

  • Very tasty looking, thank you for sharing. :)

  • looks delicious^^

I have a question: Are the dishes writen in katakana?

  • yammi !

  • are there any dishes that you are meant to eat with your hands or is everything with chopsticks or to drink from a bowl?

(it doesnt have to be only related to this video)

  • I went to a really good izakaya in Fukuoka this past February. Good stuff.

  • Great vid. Thank you for sharing. very tasty looking. ^^

  • very cool, and I think the jell would have been interesting to taste. I guess you are eating with your wife? great job sharing, the next best thing to visiting I have found so far.

  • nice video, i just noticed how much i like your voice actually, very informative and interesting

  • intresting vid as always im going to click like because i cant give it 5 stars :/

what are the pubs like in japan just out of intrest and could u do a vid on them if you have time thanks :D

  • is the food hot in japan or do they serve it with only 'one' fire extinguisher?

i know in china the food is hot.. really hot. it can get hotter but for a dutch guy

like me.. its 'two' fire extinguisher style hot. it all looks delicious but can i survive

the food (in the most unlikely event i end up stuck in japan all of a sudden).

  • That place looks nice!!

  • Didnt know that chickens got balls.

    Also I am kinda hungry...

  • @Degenskonto in America, we refer to the male chicken as "cock" so really these are cock balls, not chicken balls.

  • @leloodallasmultipass Ah yeah. We usually just call them chicken since thats usually what you mean when talkin about domesticated fowl.

  • I was wondering how easy it is to get around for tourists who can't speak Japanese (Aside from the please and thank you etc. that you should learn in the native language of any country you're visiting). I've seen a few of your video's and in some you mention for example establishments that don't serve people that can't speak Japanese. It would be a shame if one were to go to Japan (or any other country) and not be able to do anything interesting outside of your hotel.

  • @carldebrabant I think it's preferable to know a few basic phrases ("where is..", "how much is.." "two tickets to Kyoto please" , "what time does store open" etc) at least. That's about all I knew on my first visit and I got around fine in main cities. Patience and courtesy will help. Japanese people are extremely courteous and will always try and help. Many in main cities speak good English, but I think tourists should make effort to speak at least some Japanese, out of respect! Good luck!

  • Yeah, we have these all over NYC~~!! Great place to have a few drinks and get some nice "drinking food" I like t start with some Tako Wasabi, Gyutan (beef tongue), tori kawa, etc. We don't really have that many private rooms though..

  • what does izakaya literally mean ?

  • @CRAKIZGOOD Izakaya means '' Place that you stay comfortably and drink alcohol " in Japanese.

  • Oh~~I thought that Izakaya was a place mainly for drinking before.(居[酒]屋)

    It's just a restaurant,right?A great vid!!!

  • ckicken balls??? *Yuk!* xD

  • Counter is for the lonely single men.LOL

  • first dish did not appeal to me but all the other dishes made me hungry!! :D

  • Nothing beats the hot towel!

  • awesome movie ;)

  • @kinla123

I think that it is not true.

    日本人ですけどそんなの聞いたことないさ~

  • God I missed going to an Izakaya... seeing this, makes me wanna go back to Japan again this year. :P Tebasaki is what I love!

    Great vid!

  • "Lonely single men", LOL!

  • Nice I'm hungry now hehehe

    Thumbs up.

  • Awesome. Japan = delight

  • Thank you ^^

  • beats a MacDonalds any day!
