  • Star Trek XI no story all effects. Gene Rodenberry is turning in his grave.

  • @CordellaDoyle: you dont count as a Trekker because all this movie was, was a jacked up Xeorox of the original series. 1rst of all Vulcan never was blown up two why did they make Pike eat the wax bug it goes in the ear to the brain 3. spock never got emotionally involved with anyone like that except when he got sprayed with spores or something was wrong 4. why'd they make Kirk such a douche bag? why'd he grope Uhura? well ill stop here or ill go in forever

  • Now that 2009 is coming to an end, what do you think the best movie of the year was? Still "Star Trek"?

  • arrived at :52, prognosis - bored.

  • I agree with you. This movie was awesome. I've never been a Trekkie until I saw this movie and now I could probably quote you lines from specific episodes. lol. The lens glare thing bothered me sometimes too. Not all the time, just sometimes. I can't wait until the sequel. The script is supposed to be finished by December.

  • I really loved the new star trek. Mixed the old with new things to create a new story, but set with the classic characters, you know? At first, I was iffy on Simon Pegg in it. Don't get me wrong, he rules, I love his movies and he's hilarious. But when I saw him, he gave the star trek universe humor of it's own and it blended well. Funniest part was when Kirk was EXTREMELY swollen! Feel sorry for him with all the injections he got lmao! The guy for spock was amazing. I never really watched

  • Much of the old star trek, I really watched next generation and enterprise. But I did get familiar with the classic star trek. Kirk wasn't dosed with the awesomeness of Shatner, but he ruled. Cocky, confident, sort of do first think later type of character. It really gave Spock and Kirk a great contrast with their personalities, and thus, sparked up the bromance that us nerds enjoy in Star Trek. I loved how the guy as the classic spock was in it as well, it really gave the film an extra dose

  • I'm sorry, I mean an extra push for the film to give it a very well rounded and surprising story. Eric Bana never ceases to amaze me, however. He was a very profound antagonist, and his voice is amazing. He can sound all cheerful and charming, to dramatic and filled with angst, to just being a complete evil bad guy completely bent on revenge. His story was sad, I felt sympathy towards him. Overall, AMAZING movie, I hope there will be more in the future, and I'm sorry I haven't used many of

  • the actor's names, gothamgirl, I'm terrible with names :-p

  • im a comicñero from mexico city and yes i love movies to i have a daugther 7 years old she loves comics and futurama i hope she became a fan a great fan to ,thanks for your reviews and sorry for my inglish but at least i triying

  • Dude... you like sci fi movie, super hero movie and you play guitar.... YOUR FREAKIN AWSOME :))

  • it's funny how trekkies have been like 'trek is better than star wars' for years, and then a trek movie that is basically star wars comes out and they're all like 'best trek movie ever!'

    i loved it though :D

  • Both Lost and Cloverfield are ridiculously superior to Star Trek.

  • not specifically abrams' star trek, but trek in general...add alias to that list.

  • Liar

  • your so smart and know alot about comics you should right your own comic about gotham girl kinda based on you that would be so cool

    UTubeDrama website

  • GothamGirl2009 is FEATURED on UTubeDrama website

  • i agree EPIC !!!!

  • Great review!

I was so thankful that it worked. It was a near perfect reboot.

  • Welcome back! Nice to see you back!

  • Great review Gothamgirl! I also loved Star Trek. It was a great reboot of the series and I am excited for further sequels. Cool pic at the end!

  • Cool, I will go and see it, asap.

  • you look cuter than ever

  • omg i love you

  • Hmmm... cute girl, who likes to talk about things I like... How could I leave? Never been a massive Trek fan - not seen all of the movies (Including Khan - cue the boo's!) but will get there eventually! But Ioved the update and looking forward to hopefully catching it again!

  • Welcome back!

I've seen all the previous ST films and rank this up there with WRAITH OF KHAN as 4 stars. I think the new cast has a lot of potential and I look forward to where J. J. Abrams takes the franchise.

  • It's good to see ya again Gothamgirl! Welcome back! Can't wait to see what your thoughts are on the Wolverine movie. Nice picture at the end too.

  • Good review! The movie was awesome!

  • I loved the movie as well. great acting and great story had a problem with the villain Nero but other than that great movie. but I think my most favorite part was seeing "Leonard Nimoy" "Spock Prime!!!"

  • I loved this movie and I didn't even like the show thats how good it is.

  • Great stuff GothamGirl! I still haven't seen the movie, I was planning to go see it with my dad, but we've been so busy lately it's been crazy.

I do plan to see it soon though, I get a week off of work in about 3 weeks so I might see it then.

Awesome video, glad you are back! 5 stars!

  • 4 times already, geez!!! O.O

Like most movies, I probly won't see it till it's on cable, but glad you liked it. All other reviewers I've listened to liked it as well. :)

And is that guitar(s) in the back? Do you play?

  • nice pic at the end, do those ears also come in Tuvoc?

  • Um I thought that big eyed lady was TERRIFYING at first. I was going to say something, but I thought the Trekkie next to me was going to hurt me. Cause, you know, I saw it a week early. Cause I'm cool like that.

TRANSFORMERS 2 WILL BE THE BEST MOVIE EVAH!!! Ok..probably not. But it will be epic and you ARE seeing it with me.

  • nope public enemies will it has johnny depp!

  • what did you think about the spock/ uhura romance?

  • Oh & great review btw keep it up, absolutely loved the movie ;)

  • To quote Zero puncuation "Fans are clinging, complaining, dipshits who will never ever be grateful for any concession you make. The moment you shut out their shrill tremulous voices the happier you'll be for it."

  • :P here is one for the old folk, I was not impressed with Nimoy until I realized he sounded less Vulcan because he has continued to embrace his human side and now he sounds like a fricken human after all this time.

I am only about to see it twice, but I don't do that often in theaters.

Yep, still more and after the BOMB that is Wolverine, thankfully Trek lifted my spirits for these up coming re-makes/flashy flicks coming out this summer.

I got 9/10 based on love alone for StarTrek.

  • I saw the commercial spots and was like, oh great, another crappy remake where special effects are more important than the whole scale of the movie itself... glad I was wrong. Same with all the negative reviews I heard then bringing my expectations WAY down.

Could find some plot holes but what Trek Movie doesn't have those :P I think the new actors did great and honored the classics. BONES was fricken awesome. He will make DeForest Kelley proud, god bless him. He was my favorite character.

  • Great review! Glad to see you back. I posted my take on the movie on here a week or so ago. Check it out at your leisure.

  • KAAAAAAAAAAAAHHN!!!!

  • No offense, but you sound like William Shatner on some bitter pills. The Original Series I remember very well, even though I was only 5'ish at the time. I loved TAS as well. Then Next Generation came out and I thought I was a traitor for a few years but then realized everybody loved that show just like I did, new and old. Then DS9, then Voyager and then Enterprise and Marvel and Gold Key and even Malibu comics.

So um, what now? Do I need to be 48 to appreciate the classics?

  • FIRE!

he says while hold up his fist and looking upwards. (presumably at the monitor and not the camera)

Seriously, I heard all about the SUPER fans being upset and I look at myself and you can't tell me I am not a super fan and I don't have to be upset with the new movie just cause you are.

I don't like kids. I don't like this generation of Post-Boomers as you call them. I call them little shits. But I was just as offended when you took Star Trek as yours and yours alone.

  • Comment removed

  • See, there is the offensive part... I OBVIOUSLY don't share the smae passion.

I could fricken spill my gawd damn bleeding heart out to yer punk ass and you'd still be like, oh well sonny, you just don't understand.

    Fuck you grumpy, understand that?

You are the reason the SO CALLED hard-core fans have a comical reputation surrounded US as a whole.

  • You sound like a 13 year old kid who picked a fight online and then read the list of how to react to a fight online you started.... and followed it exactly.

    People remember Brandon Hex

They don't remember Aa10000whoever the hell that one guy was.

D00d, I'm not the idiot who put her out there to be insulted by picking fights with people online and then keeping digging on them until insulting the old wife because just another stand by troll to a troll fight.

yer a troll. Red shirt to.

  • Comment removed

  • They still can.

At first I was like, wait, I don't see them fixing this by the end of the movie... did they just effectively delete the previous almost what 50 years of storylines..... they did. Wow, genius.

Why have 50 years of already said and done holding down a BOLD new voyage.

I really think you are speaking from your heart and love of the classic and not embracing everything all those stories said... embrace change.

  • What who is right?

My biggest beef with fans like yourself is that whole holding onto knowing eventually something like this will fall flat on is face and fans like myself will have to what... eat our own words.

It rarely happens d00d. Mostly you guys just keeping holding on is the never ending result.

  • And another thing.

I may not have read every single fricken paperback about Vulcans

but now that that history is obviously changed and not necessarily anything else, MAYBE the Vulcans can not be boring for a fricken change.

That movie was perhaps the most clever way to start new while keeping the old in a remake that was really just another part of the whole story.

yer grim outlook is a really piss off. You remind me of Comicbook Guy from The Simpsons.

  • The funniest part about your comment is the start and the fact they used the one most tride and true Star Trek gimmick ever to do what you didn't like most.

    Funny

  • But you still can't hang with me, butthead.

I troll yer ass off youtube if I really want and lets see, since you claim to have a strangle hold on Star Trek over everybody else... I think I will get rid of you in the Interweb the old fashion way.

Just cause after all your talk, I may be an asshole, but at least I ain't no aging hypocrit.

Enjoy yer novels and bedside lubrications, it's all you got.

  • I just deal with you the same way I deal with all ignorant idiots online. Yer nothing special still d00d.

How I am a liar, pindick? You were 17 when I was 5. The only difference is you should have grown up by now according to how high & mighty you think you are.

Yer such a pathetic punk that you want to take away my love of Star Trek over 15 years of your life? Not only is that pathetic, but it's damn selfish to.

Again, get over yourself is the one thing that rings true out of all this.

  • The TOS was a live show back in the day? Sorry if i sound ignorant, i've only watched TOS in reruns.

  • The Original Series. Old people try to sound kewl trekkie by saying TOS and then saying just cause you've seen every episode 12 times doesn't make you a TRUE fan.

This Aa100000001aA (lamest name ever)guy is so old he was pissed when Gunsmoke took his baby off the air and he camped out in front of CBS for 2 weeks with Spock ears on trying to get it back... for US :P

Not him, not now, not HIS Trek.

  • He said in his 1st comment he saw it live, so does he mean he was part of the studio audience or back in the 60's the orginal series was showed as a live feed.

  • NO, he just means he didn't see them in reruns. Basically he was 17 when I was 5 and watching the same thing, different years.

In effect he tried to cancel out anything you or I might have to say about Star Trek (good or bad) because at 17 he ruled the world and now that he is 48, he rules it even more :P

  • Ahhhh I get it now. thanks for clearing that up. I was gonna wiki the "TOS" just to see of they aired live.

  • I am sure there is some form of LIVE show. And not just fans Role-playing in parks or comicCons.

If that was the basis for the original dig at fans who are not 48 years old, I would have never started, knowing the guy was too much Trekkie for even me to handle :P

Wiki is great though for Trek history and storylines.. or of course, Trekipedia :P

  • i watched it 3 times legally lol it was amazing!!

  • Welcome back

  • first good review
