Yo...what's going on? haha. I totally forgot about this vid. Amy and the others I knew at Master Replicas are gone and the "good people" founded eFX collectibles after selling off the rights to the FX sabers to Hasbro. So much has changed. We no longer get asked to help with conventions and such as Hasbro could care less. Ahh. well. i will be at Celebration V in Orlando and hope so see some folks there.

Thanks, I had fun making it too. After I got the call from Master Replicas, it took me a total of 9 hours to set up the spins, shoot them, upload to my computer, edit and then send to Master Replicas.

The contest is long over with, sorry to say.

It was a blast and Master Replicas supplied all the lightsabers to use in the competition so the entrants would not have to worry about damaging their own.

I tested it, if I go too fast on video it doesn't look so great. The light from the blade won't show up on video in an appropriate way.

I do not have a Blue Darth Maul, but that would be cool! The MR Force FX sabers that I used in the video were a Double-Bladed Maul(Red), ROTJ Luke (Green) and a ROTS Obi-Wan(Blue)

For those interested in the latest Force FX news. Master Replicas made the official announcement that Lucasfilm has approved the production of the Obi-Wan TPM and the Count Dooku Force FX lightsabers. Expect them in the Fall.

i have an anakin force fx from EPIII and the instructions manual says that you shouldn't duel, can you duel anyway without it breaking?

Yes and No. You can look at it this way: If you value the saber as a collectible,then do not duel with it and only turn it on, swing it around, then turn it off. If you want to have fun with ANY of the FFX sabers, then you can do Light or choreograped combat where you "pull" your hits so they are only enough to initiate the "clash" sound fx.

well it is a durable beam though and in my case i dont keep it as a collectors item so if your like me you dont care if it gets scared up any (Mine is VERY damaged but still works of course)

Oh guy come one... These FX sabers are made to dual with. Granted the only ones that are strong enough to actually take hard hits are Darth Mauls and Obi-Wans EP3 sabers. With personal experience the Anakin EP3 holds up extremely well, but will die eventually of course. All others seem to be poor in blade quality, testing with Maul's and Obi's, these chew through the old blades with very little force. Mauls & Obi's CAN take hard hits so play on !!!

The MR Force FX lightsabers straight out of the box are good for light to medium dueling if you want the LED's to last. If you don't care about the LED's then you can do heavy dueling and then have your saber converted to a Lux after half of the LED's are popped from their solder points.

There are quite a number of us in the hobby that do have "real" swords. Myself, I started using using a real katana, but the feasibility of getting together with your friends and use real weapons isn't safe. Especially when they don't know proper handling technique. With the FFX sabers, anyone can pick it up and you do not have to worry about anyone getting hurt, other than maybe a few bruises from missed blocks. Everything is just More Fun with a Lightsaber.

guys.... instead of wasting time and money on plastic fantasy swords, why dont you go and get you hands on the real life equivelant of a light saber - ie a nice sharp katana. Practise your skills with one of those and then post a video response to my video.

Yes, you can use them for light dueling or choreograped duels. They are not suggested for using in Full on combat. The polycarbonate blade is made to take the abuse, but the LED's inside are not and will most likely be damaged from heavy use.

There are many avenues you can go down for dueling sabers. The best one that Master Replicas offers out of the box is the Darth Maul. If you want something that you can just practice with you can get a stunt saber that is a basic machined metal hilt with a replaceable rod for the blade or you can get a Converted saber or Luxeon saber if you want to use it with light effects. Just do a search on Luxeon light sabers and you will come up with a wealth of info.

I checked the rules on MR's site, they have to be straight out of the box, disqual if its modded.
