  • This is actually amazing. 10/10 for capture!

  • Mate of mine tried to do bird land, but noone could quite do the bass like Jaco

  • If people want to complain then they should post something better. This track has plenty of groove and phrasing, so I really can't see the complaint. A2 students are 17/18 years old, I teach music tech and none of my students would be able to produce anything close to this, so share your opinion, that's fine, but you can't just slate someone's coursework which they clearly spent a lot of time on and got an A for. Some people just complain because they can.

  • I teach music technology and have been in semi pro jazz bands; for what it's worth I think you have done really well. I wish I had students this good! This version of Watermelon is not easy to get right in my experience and the groove is not bad considering that it is multi-tracked. I certainly could not do better without a band to play off.

  • Who I am? I am the man that you called an arsehole , remember? Idiot.

  • @bretzelesser haha, you think you're someone. Just bore off man.

  • @bretzelesser so basically no one should ever try anything unless they get it 100% right first time?

  • So why did you make it?. You worked hard getting every sound and every phrase of the original right. Quite good so far. But you didn´t take care of the groove, the phrasing, all the little important details that made this music so energetic and WORTH LISTENING TO.

Maybe you didn´t have that in mind when doing your work, but then: why post it?

You ask me to press "dislike" and move on. OK my comments are a more sophisticated way of pressing "dislike". Dislike with a hint. Now I move on.

  • @bretzelesser Who the hell are you.. haha yeah just move on.

  • @bretzelesser who the fuck are you? the guy playing most of the instruments on this is a great musician, his groove is tighter than your tight ass asshole you fucking tight ass asshole! Do a version of Chameleon, play the instruments and record and mix it...and see if you get 'the phrasing, all the little important details that made this music so energetic and WORTH LISTENING TO.'

stupid dick, first you say he worked hard to get every phrase right then say how he didnt take care of phrasing...

  • @bretzelesser Man this is wicked! I think you have the groove down really well, great playing, nicely recorded and mixed, a triumph! Im a music/music tech teacher and know what i can hear - well done.

  • @bretzelesser you are SUCH a wasteman, you sound like you've put your comments through google translator.

    Sounding great Dan! ;)

  • Liveless and grooveless from the start. Where is the ENERGY? Of course it is interesting to try such things but why post it, only to make peole like me write comments?

  • @bretzelesser So why did you click on the video? What made you listen to it? Its not here for people like you to comment on it, because it isnt just put on here for arseholes like you, who havent uploaded anything and just continue to put down people's work. Take your comments elsewhere

  • @stix92 the answer is very simple, so even idiots might understand it. I clicked on the video because I like good music, I know and love the original and I thought it might be interesting or even good...you never know, right?

But it was crap, you can´t change that with your insults. By the way, do you have a permission to call people arseholes?

If you don´t like comments disable comments if you have posted this or DON´T READ THEM. hahaha.

  • @bretzelesser Do I need permission to call people arseholes? Everyone is entitled to their opinion, dont mind constructive comments. If you think its crap why comment on it? Press dislike and move on. I'll read my comments as this is my account. I dont know who you are and I wont judge you but do you even know why I made this version?

  • @bretzelesser

The groove's pretty much there. The only way it gets better is if you actually hire proper groove musicians who've been in the business for decades (ie: Herbie and the Headhunters). This is rlly grooving to me, especially drums. Solid. Got a few gripes with the mix, but this is great. (I'm doing an undergrad at the London Royal Academy of Music so I'm not completely ignorant)

  • @dannybighair Cheers for the comment, much appreciated. I dont know who these people are, expecting me to call herbie and his friends to sit in on my A level coursework..

  • @bretzelesser instead of writing unqualified comments you should do music like that. it has a very cool character particularly with the saxophone

  • Bam lee :D

  • sounds like babba mate

  • You can find some piece of the Intro in the German Gag "Bruce Lee Bam"

    Enjoy the Groove

Look for : Bruce Lee Bam

  • @Schowimat Indeed, they used the original herbie hancock headhunters version of watermelon man in the intro. This is my take on the actual tune. Check it out if you havent heard the original..

  • This is depressingly good!! How did you make the mix sound so sweet?

  • did u get an A for this ???

  • @jaggardos Overall I only got a B but yeah got an A for the coursework

  • such a crisp mix haha nice one (Y)
