Any person that calls themselves a musician or a vocalist should really listen and pay attention to whats happening here. Just listening to these guys gave me some crazy ideas with voicing my chords. Thanx antcreations for posting this. Really appreciate it!!!
MM sung it so good, I forgot the original was sung by Smokey Robinson. Claude Mcknight had no business accompanying MM on the lead, one the other members should have done it instead.
What a great performance. Perfect blending of voices Michael's and Take6's voices. I LOVE acapella singing. It is so powerful to hear the human voice bare and unaccompanied by a musical instrument. Finding and seeing this video has made my day. :)

Wow!!! Hmmmm, Can i disagree and give a C+ to this performance. I like TAKE 6 harmony-- PERFECT. I like Michael's voice is GREAT. Yet, somehow together, they just DON'T WORK. He seems more angry and shouting rather than smooth. Weird cover. Sounds more like a mash up. Am I the only one ?
It's no need to argue, these are both great groups, and no one can say who is better,it is just a matter of opinion,by I have both of their cd's so its all good, these groups got harmonies for days
Simply beautiful and absolutely amazing... No offense, but if you have ever been in love (for real) and this DOES NOT move you, back track your steps and find out where you lost your soul :). Thanks for posting this.
are u kidding me ??.. thats the best vocal group on the earth.. if you dont believe me.. ask a musician or group you look up to.. and they will tell you.. !!
Boyz II Men, although I love them, are no where near as cold as Take 6! Take 6 was Boyz II Men's mentors!! If you see BIIM interviews, they credit Take 6 for inpiring them. Take 6 came out in 1988 and are Gospel group. That is the only reason why they are not more famous. If you disagree, youtube search their other live performances on here. I suggest looking up the songs Spread Love and Mary for starters. You will be shocked. Not to mention Brian McKnights older bro started the group
They never did R & B..They tried a couple R & B sounding gospel songs as did a lot of gospel artist. Their fan base did not like it so they returned to what made them famous. Their originality.
you're right,Boyz II Men even said they tried so hard to sound like Take 6,it's human nature to be influenced, immitation is the highest form of flattery

That was awesome !! Much praise is not given to Alvin chea, the bass vocalist in take6. Much, if not all of the grooving and moving of everyone at the concert is because of him. Are you checking him out !..RESPECT ALIVIN CHEA..you did a wonderful job !!
I may be stepping out on a limb here but after being a huge TAKE 6 fan since their inception in 87-88 to present, I have noticed that... and Its a theory.. but I think Claude has modeled his vocals, or has been influenced by Michael MacDonald. If you truly know Claudes Vocals, notice how in his solo songs with T6 how often he says "HEY". MM says that a lot in his vocals too.. But.. Its just a theory of mine :)
You are absolutely right, both he and his brother Brian were totally influenced by MM. Take 6 harmonies are very reminiscent of some MM harmonies. (ie, "What a Fool Believes"
You can order the DVD from the station that put on the show, don't remeber it off hand but you can google it and find out. I think it was in Chicago...
Actually, it's not his first Motown Soundstage concert. He did a performance in 2003 and featured Ashford and Simpson as well as Pat Simmons and Tommy Johnston. FYI, if you do call to order a DVD from WTTW/Soundstage (1-800-237-1100), try to get somebody on the line to clarify that you want the second performance (with Toni Braxton) and not the earlier one.
soul is something that any demographic can experience, its an energy that you can tap into, and its clear that both michael mcdonald and take 6 are are tappin that ass!tight shiz!
I'm a Take 6 fan thru and thru but I have to disagree with you. Claude sounds real covered and nasal to me and he don't sound that great to me. Can't hear the words he's singing.
Micheal is one of the best R & B and Rock vocalist of all time. I love him. I am a black man and a vocalist. I don't what color he is he can sang! He influenced me.
I agree with you. Michael Is truly and awesome R&B/Rock/pop singer. I dont care what color a person is. If they can move me in a way that makes me respond emotionally. Im totally into them. I love MM
