hah "mind boggling" is what Steve Cropper said last year.. and much the same too, said some singers have been told by everybody incl. their grandmother how good they are, & so they get a bit big headed - but NOT Guy. He just loves singing and doing something different and aiming for the best. NOW big shows coming up all round Australia, with Army Bands, raising money for Legacy charity
I'm thinking that with THIS performance, its more that he has to sell himself as an artist. You can't say that these are regular circumstances for these performances. Its make or break at this point - well, all throughout the comp. really. Not like he gets a gig the next week, no matter what. Very stressful really. Would have liked to have heard a bit more of the song he was writing and playing

yet another song we find he's written (near the end of this vid.) and we never get to hear it. Somewhere, there's a whole album he turfed (2005). & I remember he spoke about writing a gospel album, so I wonder where that music went. Ah well. (And he wrote a special song for Jules when they were married, we never got to hear that either. At least we've picked up the "No More" from 2002 :P

@exiit its like his audition Ribbon in the Sky, the full audition song never made it to TV, but he's since sung it acapella, on here somewhere.

@Ashwin42 yepp. This video is actually linked to that other performance (think it was during his birthday). I know this isn't the complete version but this was the best i could get. I've seen the first few seconds of this performance on another video clip here on youtube (when he holds that long note), but can't remember which the name of it. :/

hah "mind boggling" is what Steve Cropper said last year.. and much the same too, said some singers have been told by everybody incl. their grandmother how good they are, & so they get a bit big headed - but NOT Guy. He just loves singing and doing something different and aiming for the best. NOW big shows coming up all round Australia, with Army Bands, raising money for Legacy charity

I'm thinking that with THIS performance, its more that he has to sell himself as an artist. You can't say that these are regular circumstances for these performances. Its make or break at this point - well, all throughout the comp. really. Not like he gets a gig the next week, no matter what. Very stressful really. Would have liked to have heard a bit more of the song he was writing and playing

Guy just finished The Memphis Tour with Steve cropper & the MGs, and the CD/DVD is available for pre-order now. The CD has the live tracks from the DVD, and the DVD is the show, plus the documentary when he was recording The Memphis Album live in Memphis, when they brought in soul legends from around to listen while he recorded the tracks in 1 go!
