Whoa...! i haven't heard this since it was out 28 years ago - great song..! Hey - what happened to the last 28 years..? where did they go..? what year is this..? just how old am i anyway.....?
I remember the days of going in the Rite Aid pharmacy store & this would be over the intercom playing. I was in the toys section looking at the few Knight Rider toys they had. :)
So did they (rest of the band) ever treat Boy George with any disrespect at all? Looks like they openly accepted him for who he is. It's really cool to see that. You don't see that often. I don't know much about the band, except they had a lot of kick ass hits.
Ok now, this is the real deal! :-D This IS 80's! The hair, the makeup, the fashion, the whole shebang! :-) I would rush home from school to watch Mtv and catch a glimpse of all the cool videos of all these awesome songs. I have so many memories , good memories of my days in the 80's! How I tried so hard to do my hair just like this! hahaha I never could get it just right! :-D I had fun and crazy days back then. I love the 80's sooo much! It ended way too soon. Missing the 80's! :-(
@JackJackDani only 29? best line I've seen yet on these posting area's. 30 here...and I barely can stomach "oldies"and I don't believe I just said that like that. i listen to a lot of music these days...but this isn't a bad song, not sure it'd fit with what I like now n days.
here i sit watching this video with my reading glasses on in my mid 40's and all i can say is the 80's fu##ing rocked, glad to be a part of it. new songs come and go quick, but these songs will last forever
I was in my 20's when this first came out. The video was a bit goofy, but the song its self is great. Funny, when ever I might think about this video, I always remember the people walking away at the end.
I admit, I was the 1 person to dislike this, here's why. I am brothers with the thompson twins. We are actually triplets. And those f'ers cut me out of the original group the Thompson Triplets.

My fav band from the 80's bar none. I tried to "dye" my hair red like Tom Bailey, but with no success, lol, and mom wouldn't let me grow a "rat-tail" like his at the time, lol. Nonetheless, I can still watch their epicness now, =)
Hey people!! the music is still here! we can all play it whenever we want. and we are still young and youthful inside of ourselves if we would let ourselves be! i'm 41, yet still 15... eating healthy, exercise regularly, following our hearts, and going after the dreams we had when we were younger , if we didnt achieve them yet, is what its about.. we arent here just to pay bills!!! we have to be ourselves, otherwise who are we???? its not over til its over!! seek GOD ( thru jesus christ)
Really gr8 synth textures used in this song with Oberheim and Prophet 5 synths! And that Twins trademark tight bass sound is oberheim OBXa..I remember catching them in concert a few times during my youth in '84& a few yrs later and they sounded gr8 live!..this song is the reason I had to get these 2 synths due to the haunting textures and sounds they made..TTwins made some awesome music using these famous 80's synths heard on most hits!..oberheimOBXa is th same synth VH used on Jump as well.. :)
i got a Thompson Twins t-shirt from a thrift store(one of my favorite finds) and got three compliments in one day haha. One of which was from a woman who yelled out "im engaged to a thompson twin!" haha. it was so uplifitng to see three perfect strangers who love this band.
I saw the Thompson Twins at Radio City Music Hall circa 1987. I only went because my friend won tickets. I was singing their songs for days afterwards. I was in total shock when another friend told me they were even better before Joe Leeway left the group. The Thompson Twins are very underrated. They weren't one hit wonders or some '80s novelty act.
"Doctor doctor" is a very lovely song. I think it was made in the year 1984, a great year in many ways !!!! Why isn't there anyone who still make pop music this way ?
INTO THE GAP sold(december 2010)over 6 millions the copies around the world double platinum in Uk, over 1 million and 500,00 of copies in USA,platinum in New Zealand,Platinum In Australia ,Platinum in Canada, platinum in Japan..Top Ten in germany,Suisse,Pourtogal,Spain,Ireland,Sweden..
Very nice catchy, melodic synthpop classic and btw the lead singer looks good and he has good voice. I'm not an 80s chick (I didn't know this song/artist before) however 'Doctor Doctor' amazed me since I heard on VH1 Classic. I think I need to hear some more stuff from Thompson Twins.
@damien 19735. Artists are different from regular people. They do things their own way. Most of us are too timid to do that, because we are afraid people will think badly of us. You say you like the song, but not the appearance of the artists. The Thompson Twins are about acceptance. Not tolerance, but real acceptance of things different. They respect your opinion. I respect your opinion. I hope you can understand that they seems outlandish to elicit a response from people. Good, bad, whatever.
I'm into hairbands and speed/trash metal but i like this kind of music too!!!it's amazing!!!just hope some rocker dont read this message...i dont care, this is good music too!!!everything into 80's it's awesome,it's the best era from all the times.
@peacesells I wish we could go back to the 80s, not only for the music, but the fact that it was a simpler time without all the fear and suspicion we have now.
quick step and side kick was a great album, but afer that they went to the pack. this is a horribly mellow poprock track with a tedious chorus, destined for huge success in the US because of it's blandness. the synths are good, but the song, yuck. Many will love it and that's fine but not for me. Many other good tracks on Into The Gap in my opinion including the wonderful title track.
Thompson Twins produced some of the finest defining moments of the 80's. This song is one of them. Great melody, musical arrangement, video and ... hair! So glad I lived through it all. (I've just come from visiting Grace Jones, "Slave to the Rhythm")
The only decade that still amazes me!!!!
