2d version is the best, hands down...

Pre Ren and Pre-T2A was the glory era, when Ultima was itself and not trying to appeal to the masses. They basically took everything UO stood for and deleted it, adding AOS, targeting systems, item slot backpacks...

I miss those days, no MMO has stolen my heart since and unless a true Ultima 3d remake arises, none ever will.

I refuse to play anything but... When ultima changed, my subscription was cancelled and freeshards became my new home.

It's only after 12+ years I'm finally getting bored of UO, still play off and on but it's finally getting old.

@rookie2202 Yea its not runescape. i can recognize that Inn anywhere...its the Sweet Dreams Inn of the CITY Britain in the LAND of Britannia or Sosaria (i'm pointing out that the title should only say City of Britain in Britannia) and used to be one of the starting character creation places before Haven and New Haven. (btw I miss the old Haven). My father first played this game in old school. I started around 2004-05 right before the AOS expansion...I miss the o'l glory days...

@venomironx Iris2 has also the classic 2D mode ;-) ... it's an UO open source client, thats the clue!!

While Iris 2 is truly amazing I wouldn't really call it playable, I've experienced many crashes, they could've brought the UI from Third Dawn client which is was my main reason to play the 3D client (It has a much better UI, inventory, spells icons and so on)

Plus it's development has been put on halt since there aren't many developers, I would love to help if I knew how.

It had potential, perhaps it still has.

it kinda looks like slightly better runescape. I wish they'd just make a really good graphical version of ultima...I'd pay to play it.
