If you're not familiar with Lou Reed, ignore this fucking awful shite. At his worst he can be horrendous, but he's recorded A LOT of really excellent music.
@mg196 Obviously, you don't know shite aboot the music industry. You put out the record the LABEL wants you to release!! Herbie Hancock had just released the abomination called "Rockit". The douches that ran the record companies, wanted to piggyback on that success - shite, even Stanley Clarke had to release a hip hop version of Born In The USA during this same period!! Having said that, the live version is much better than the album version. Fernando Saunders' bass line makes the arrangement!
At the height of his craving for mainstream success, he put out the worst album of his career (Mistrial) with the worst songs he'd ever written. Who the fuck told Lou to start rapping?! This MAY be the most dated song he's ever written. Abso-fucking-lutely horrible.
Even worse was when he performed the song on Saturday Night Live (Sam Kinison hosted). On SNL, the only cause he was promoting was his wallet. In this video, at least, he was performing for the benefit of hurricane victims.
One of the first albums recorded digitally...Mistrial.
