Michael, I've been with you for a long time (and thus, weakly with Obama) but time really is up...he's had 4 years, and all we get our half-measures and excuses, and oftentimes liberal causes have been ignored outright (ex. war on drugs has ESCALATED under Obama...)

@SterilizeRepublicans obama took a neutral stance on OWS its too controversial for both sides. Too many times he keeps syaing "im for the little guy" so he writes a bill that helps pay for people's houses and then adds a clause that helps the rich. OWS doesn't have an actual stance, they are just anti-corporatist and they will never have a single motive because people are there for different reasons and it has no head to direct the body
People complaining about Obama are like those who whine about only winning 100 million instead of 200 million.

@SterilizeRepublicans There's still plenty of people out there dying every year because they can't afford treatment for various illnesses. This simply isn't acceptable at any level and Obama failed to nail this into people's heads. Glad you're doing fine, but there are people this year who lost somebody ONLY because they didn't have health care, and it didn't have to be that way. You call that being privileged? Wow

@Lobos222 You are naive to think that I am Italian because I have a Latin phrase in my nickname. Regarding your military point, NATO members are actually forced to spend at least a certain amount on military; most would spend less otherwise.
Right this guy has that contant atitude that he seems to be sorry for existing. "I hate myself" must be his motto. Michael has been coming off as naive to me for awhile now. Smart, well-informed, but naive. He acknowledges that the game is rigged, yet thinks it can be played anyway. @SubwayRatt I agree, but you should still care that Bush was worse, I mean he started an unnecessary WAR, literally killing thousands of Americans and who knows how many millions? of Iraqis
You clearly have no clue how credit rating agencies work. They don't influence how you run your economy in America. If you were fucking fiscally responsible then you wouldn't be so reliant on low interest rates. Additionally do you want to see your bond auctions fail instantly, because a great way to do that would be to go after the credit rating agencies. Yes, they didn't rate as honestly as possible but the big 3 agencies are the ONLY official measure of stability government debt. A rare miss.
I love Jimmy Dore telling it like it is. Michael Shure though... I feel like he is that last hold out who wants to find a silver lining and believe in a system and a party that is corrupt to the core. Not saying I don't like and respect him but I feel like he is always making excuses for corporate Dems, chief among them Obama.
Is anyone surprised by this? I am not. I knew this from day one. Here you have Republican congress who is willing not to compromise on anything, and then elect the same group to come up with $1.2+ trillion in spending cuts in this unconstitutional "super committee"? Gimme a break.
We really need to take all the "Sacred Cows" to the butcher block. We take in $2.2 trillion and spend $3.7 trillion or so. We need to cut spending, not raise taxes, Raising taxes will not solve the problem, even if we raised taxes to 90% on every person making $100,000 a year.
Michael Shure is awesome, you need to get rid of this other guy. Debate is great, and I'm all for it but all the "fucking this, fucking that, shit shit shit" is bad for TYT's image and makes you seem unprofessional
I mean look at the hole we've been dug into from Bush's presidency. Look at where we were under Clinton, close to solving the national debt, to where we were after Bush. Obama's entire presidency is basically about reversing that horrible path Bush led us down. And now people are ready to let the Republicans back in? What shape are we going to be in 4 years down the line? Slashed taxes on the rich, no bargaining rights for unions, no estate tax, deregulation AGAIN. we can't let that shit happen.
I agree with Michael's position, but I understand Jimmy's point of view too. It's hard to vote for a guy that's pulled so much shit. But then again as sad as it is voting for a 3rd party candidate is throwing your vote away and giving it to the Republicans (and Jimmy basically admits that saying he'd rather a republican come in). I would rather have Obama another 4 years and get the candidate we want in 2016, it's damage control at this point. A republican is going to devastate the US
OK here's my challenge to The Young Turks please, Please, PLEEAASSEEE give us the name of a rational non corporate affilliated individual who is of presidential calibre whose name we can WRITE IN next November. If we chose anyone currently seeking the job we're gonna get screwed AGAIN. So who, and there must be SOMEONE, can fill this office and set us on a path of true positive action for the US citizens? Let us know so we can vote for him/her.
Nice vid. While not completely agreeing with him, I love Jimmy Dore on the show to have someone that outspoken about the way that Obama is clearly on Team Banking Industry in terms of his appointments and approaches to dealing with our current financial crisis. Bothered still that the first question is always, "who do you vote for" instead of "how do we fix it". In the words of Eugene Debs, I'd rather vote for what I want and not get it instead of vote for what I don't want, and get it.
Sorry, but any Republican will be worse than Obama. If you don't vote for Obama, you will be helping ONLY the Republicans, and the Republicans will fuck America up more quickly and surely than Obama could ever dream of doing. What can we liberals do? Start from the bottom by supporting progressives during the primaries.
Lots of people are bitching about this Committee. Yes they're idiots, they should all be kicked out and so on. However, excluding one who's retiring, the other 11 will all be re-elected.
Why? Because they're rich and powerful. They have connections Inside the Beltway. They're loyal to their party. This means that the national party will donate to their re-election campaign. And people will vote for them because they're the "lesser of two evils".
@colinsilver105 you hit the nail on the head. But how to you change that? well if the government had little power, like our constitution says, then the corporations wouldn't be trying to convince them of anything. No one is going to donate 1 million dollars to someone who has little power. So it sounds like your frustration is that our government is too powerful and you don't like the side effects that come with that power.
On one hand reps. are plain evil and still on the "let him fail" track, on the other , ppl need to adopt to a new situation that eventually will be here to stay and offer some kind of income in whatever kind of useless job the new world then offers even with such politicians ruling things (hard to swollow)because this is ----clearly the postcommonsense politics aera----- for the usa.
Jimmy Dore gets it. Obama keeps everyone on the left from acting - except for OWS, because those are the people who are desperate or also get it. Some people don't understand they are going over a cliff until the cliff is right under their nose. If you wait until then, doesn't matter if Obama is driving 50 mph instead of a 100, it will be too late to stop.
If you want to readjust American politics towards the left you start primarying Democratic congressmen who are corrupt or conservaDems and agitating for campaign finance reform. You don't vote Republican and hope that they do enough damage the folks out in Wyoming realise something ought to be done. If McCain had won in 2008 the SCOTUS would now be wall-to-wall conservatives.
6:03 The left can 'organise' after re-electing Obama because it will be his last term. Why does Jimmy want to inflict more suffering in the meantime by voting for a GOP candidate?
Mike is right. Other than the Wall Street stuff and Tim G. Which were big. Obama has done more good than any prez in a good while.
Expecting him to be the perfect liberal president and always comparing him to FDR is ridiculous. Voting public has to take some blame for no public option and no immigration reform. When u elect blue dawgs that's what u get!

@vortex1988 first of all the health care bill is not even implemented, its going to take 10 year to do that. and, social security was created just like that weak at first but made stronger. at least he got it through the filibuster will always do that. if you don't think so its delusional.
and i cant believe he said hell vote for a republican then what!!! when most of rich people want to rise taxes. instead of hating Obama motivate him to do the right thing. this is politics, that's why i love ows because they change the conversation which is about the rich instead of just hating on Obama probably because they aren't about pleasing their viewer. your so much like fox news its crazy. and that the problem with business which you are. just like fox news.
This show is a left fox news and im a democrat leaning independent. i like them and what they say but their misleading half the time and remind me of everything i hate about fox news. the congress have control, too much control if you ask me and his to soft to them but getting better. if you see how good Obama is overseas without congress blocking him imagine how good he'd be here without those guys. i use to love this show but i don't anymore, i want the truth not a let fox news.
@TheAlaingrvis I agree with you, sadly the Cenk and Ana segments consist of Cenk's obvious leftist propaganda and Ana agreeing with him. I did think this segment was fairly balanced, mostly because of Michael at least trying to make it that way.
I suggest the bachman solution, I agree you need a republican in office, sure Obama is the better canidate, but your still getting republican light, and as said, he's defusing any attempts to criticize him, and if he's relected chances are he's going to royally piss people off in 2016 from ever voting Democrat again. Get a republican in there, and their insanity and bullshit will push people too far to retaliate, make OWS and such grow nation wide as no one has jobs.
I have an idea, why don't we ditch the ridiculously corrupt and inneffective Douche vs. Turd Sandwhich paradigm and create a system of governance that is accountable, directly addressed by the people, and more democratic than any of the current Bullshit Baskin Robins 31 flavors of corporate puppets we have now?
@drpeppa2357 "31 flavors of corporate puppets?' Classic! That system would never work in the good ol USA because the vast majority of Americans are tools, believing everything they're told by their corporate media. That and being the product of inbreeding renders a person unable to think logically.
Who are these short-sighted uninformed populist morons? Where is Cenk? The Greeks are bankrupt with the EU as their only lifeline. The only way for the Greeks to leave the Euro is to leave the EU. The latter is not in the interest of the Greek people. That's why the referendum was blocked and the scumbag that proposed it is rightfully out of office. Italy does not have a 'banker' as their new PM, but a non-partisan bureaucrat and academic to clean up the mess from dickhead Berlusconi cum suis.
micheal's way too diplomatic, and way too quick to give the benefit of the doubt. It's not a bad thing as such, but i've noticed it tends to evoke loudness in his co-hosts ;p
Obama, speakign about Iran's nucular facility, just said to Iran "we are not taking anything off the table". You knwo what that is? That is code for a military strike and worse, a nucular option! THAT IS CODE SPEAK! Well, the last thing we need is ANOTHER war in the middle east. Libya = failure (al-quieda runs their govt!). Egypt = failure (protesters back in Tarir square). Iraq = failure, Afghan = failure. Pakastan = fail - And now he is threatning Iran???? Oh come on, he is WORSE than Bush!
I agree entirely with Jimmy, though I understand Michael's approach here. One question I have for Michael, however, is: what is the end game strategy? When you know both parties are taking us off a cliff, one slower than the other, and you perpetually vote for the slower one, what is the end game? How do you ever stop falling off that cliff? You have to eventually turn against the rot in your own party and purge it. And if not now with Obama, then when?
when i see this kind of problem in America. when i see in London executives winning 169 x more what the average work . i look to my country and i be hopeless. i remember my grand father say: "in my time things was batter." and i dont see me saying this for my grand children at all, maybe "in my time things just get worse and worse.
Pick a Republican and say goodbye to the FDA, EPA and say hello to Keystone and WW3.
Is Obama perfect? Fuck no. But the healthcare bill, Don't ask don't tell, Ending of Iraq war, 2 million jobs added because of the half ass stimulus bill.....none of that occurs with McCain.
Fucking tools need to realize that the power is in Congress.
@daguzify Obama is a figurehead, just like every president for the last thirty years. You could have elected McCain and got exactly the same "Change" out of it. None of those things you just listed were by presidential decree. The Iraq War's end was set down by Bush, it was set in stone before Obama was even elected. DADT was from Congress, as was the healthcare bill.
It doesnt matter who you vote for. The real leaders in the US arent elected. You dont vote for the rich, they're just rich.
@daguzify And what has the health care bill actually done? It's supposedly Obama's greatest accomplishment, but the law doesn't actually do anything significant.
@daguzify, healthcare bill was a gift to health insurance companies. Is anyone paying less for health insurance now? Ending the war in Iraq...only because Iran is looming as a more profitable war. Stimulus where a fraction goes to jobs while the majority goes to his Wall Street buddies. Yeah, McCain wouldn't have done any better but at least we would have expected it from him. Obama is a hypocrite and a sellout.
@daguzify I agree that Obama is worse in some respects to a republican. He is able to do very heinous things under the guise of compromise. Please, do some research on these points, I am not exaggerating anything here:
- Health care = subsidies to the insurance companies. He did everything to ensure that the public option was not on the table
- Iraq - The timeline for withdrawal for the end of 2011 was negotiated under the Bush admin. Obama wanted to extend the mission! Maliki said no.
- He had a chance to fight for the end of the Bush tax cuts for the rich; he could have pushed for that under a democratic congress. Moreover, Boenher is even on the record on TV saying that he would allow the Upper class tax cuts to expire IF that meant keeping the middle class tax cuts.
- Wall street has made more profit in the first 2.5 years of the Obama admin then the entire 8 years of the Bush admin
@daguzify your right, we would end the FDA for one thing. Then the best cancer treatment in the world could actually be produced, rather than held up in courts. If you aren't familiar with it, look up burzynski. He discovered a 30% success rate cure to cancer, with no side effects. The FDA said, and I quote, "we will never approve a drug that only one person holds the patient to". So thanks to the FDA, we cannot use this treatment, and must use chemo, with a 1% success rate. Thanks FDA.
Now will you people consider Ron Paul? I bet Jimmy Dore would actually like to vote for Ron Paul anyway, at least Paul isnt bought and nobody owns him.
The saddest part is that while I disagree with Ron Paul on so many things, not being a corporate/banking puppet may be the single most important trait a politician can have these days. It's just a scary proposition that if disenchanted progressives vote for someone like Ron Paul, it will probably go to helping the Republican nominee in the end. I also question Paul's ability to get anything done with a corporate Congress blocking his every move. I just don't know.
@fightforyourrights9 If Paul get's in believe me, he will have the people behind him and congress WILL move. Remember, a large part of the House are now teaparty members, and it is likley they will increase next year. What does that mean? It means about 50% of the teaparty agrees with Ron Paul about the wars and nation building and torture. So he would have a mandate if he got in. Hell, its worth a try...no other politician will stop the wars, not even democrats. Now Obama is threatning Iran!
@fightforyourrights9 Dont forget, Ron Paul will end the Fed. That might be the very best thing about him. No more inflation, no more easy borrowing and debt, no more giving our money to other nations in secret! So he would get us out of the wars yes, but would also save us from the fed! AND NOBODY OWNS HIM!
Go Jimmy Dore! Obama sucks. He neutralizes the true progressives, and runs interference for the bankers. Anybody but Obama. Thanks for reminding us of the facts.
Michael Shure wins. I don't want McCain or Romney appointing to the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court becomes any more Republican you can kiss Roe v. Wade goodbye. Fuck Obama, but you have to pick the lesser evil when you've got no choice.
Let me guess. You also though Silvio Berlusconi was a good choice the first time you voted for him. To me its clear you know nothing about Ron Paul because as a European Ron Pauls "foreign policies" would be really negative. It would actually most probably force countries like ITALY to pay more for their military, but thats probably no issues because the Italian economy is in tip top shape, right?
People are dense, Michael is fanning the flames under Jimmy's ass on purpose. Someone has to play devil's advocate when you're trying to cram as much as these two did in to less than 9 minutes. This would have taken CNN an hour to get through, and Fox News would still be hung up on misrepresenting percentages and might lie to you a week later about it.
@kirby7979 He's so annoying. When Jimmy talks about the fact that the left doesn't get mad at Obama for breaking all his promises and how when a Republican is in office the left is angry and organized but when Obama does the same things they're nowhere to be heard, he's talking about Michael Shure.
"if we had a republic in there we could at least organize against them" no. not at all, when bush was president we organized against him like never before. What effect did it have? he ignored the left as if they were not there and continued his wars of attrition. Obama sucks but no matter what he will HAVE to hear from the left as they make up much of his base, so he'll at least be feeling pressure. Did Jimmy learn anything from the early 00s?
I'm sorry, Mr. Dore, but how well did the liberals organize when Bush Jr. was in office? Unfortunately, they really didn't until 6 years into his term. So, I just don't buy into this argument that Obama neutralizes the liberals from organizing. We liberals have been our own worst enemies for years! I would agree to the point that Obama is making it worse, though.
There you go - Obama is in the pocket of the bankers. He is a criminal with the rest of them. Jimmy is totally in the right here; Michael is showing his weak Obama supporter credentials, which have led us to the place we are now.
The title of this video is HILAROUS! The deal has already been done. Its in the law that created the Super Committee u morons. The deal is done - 50/50 cuts here we come!
@ViciousOneWon Yes it is a done deal...but the liberals cant accept the 50/50 law that is triggered. They cannot let go of their dreams of taxing the rich to death, and driving what corporations we still have, over to China. Liberals just hate people who are successful so much, they are seething at the notion that the rich only have to give up half of their income to taxes. Liberals want to see 90% taxes in their heart of hearts, they really hate proserpous people.
@calimar28 Well i consider myself practically a liberal, and I dont agree with anything you've said about us. I think u've been watching too much FoxNews! LOL
Its too bad you Americans have this two party system where the people only have the option of choosing the least idiotic idiot to power. Lets just say that as a European, i dont envy your political party system with only 2 parties.. 2 parties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its insane!!!!!
The failure of this unconstitutional committee is a wonderful thing. There can be NO MORE compromise. Period. Every time the president moves to the center, the neofascists step further to the right. Every time!
He's right, Obama may not be what we all expected and yeah there may be a valid point in saying he's got corporate ties that influence his decision making, but he's the best we've got. Does anyone here seriously believe that electing a republican in 2012 will make things better for you, personally, or even for the country in general? I say reelect Obama and sit it out until 2016.
@shittyfagg If Ron Paul was the alternative, I would vote for him. At least he goes after the banks and the fed and has proven to be ideologically consistent and honest. At least you can fight back against his crazy ideas and let him do the good ones like cutting defense spending and getting out of wars etc
Jimmy is right, Obama is the reason why progressives have no influence in Washinton anymore. Everyone pretends he is super progressive and that you still have to compromise with Republicans.
@shittyfagg Obama IS a Republican. There is NO difference between him and Bush on anything. It wont matter if he is reelected or a republican wins. Nothing will change. At least if the democrats are in the opposition, they might actually fight for the people. Besides, if he is reelected, its unlikely a Progressive will be elected in 2016.
The Fed are trying to ban this video everyone Please spread the link to this video to tell the Fed that infringing on our freedom of speech will not be accepted!
I usually like Young Turks and think their channel is good way to find out what is happening in American politics, so it is hard to believe how much they got wrong in the few sentences about Greece and Italy. Additionally do you want to see your bond auctions fail instantly, because a great way to do that would be to go after the credit rating agencies. Yes, they didn't rate as honestly as possible but the big 3 agencies are the ONLY official measure of stability government debt. A rare miss.

Slashed taxes on the rich, no bargaining rights for unions, no estate tax, deregulation AGAIN. we can't let that shit happen.
crayyawn 3 months ago
I agree with Michael's position, but I understand Jimmy's point of view too. It's hard to vote for a guy that's pulled so much shit. But then again as sad as it is voting for a 3rd party candidate is throwing your vote away and giving it to the Republicans (and Jimmy basically admits that saying he'd rather a republican come in). I would rather have Obama another 4 years and get the candidate we want in 2016, it's damage control at this point. A republican is going to devastate the US

When you know both parties are taking us off a cliff, one slower than the other, and you perpetually vote for the slower one, what is the end game? How do you ever stop falling off that cliff? You have to eventually turn against the rot in your own party and purge it. And if not now with Obama, then when?

daguzify 3 months ago 43
@daguzify Obama is a figurehead, just like every president for the last thirty years. You could have elected McCain and got exactly the same "Change" out of it. None of those things you just listed were by presidential decree. The Iraq War's end was set down by Bush, it was set in stone before Obama was even elected. DADT was from Congress, as was the healthcare bill.
It doesnt matter who you vote for. The real leaders in the US arent elected. You dont vote for the rich, they're just rich.
Etimos 3 months ago
@daguzify And what has the health care bill actually done? It's supposedly Obama's greatest accomplishment, but the law doesn't actually do anything significant.

@Vortex1988 No; in fact its subsidies to the insurance companies.

muaddib878 3 months ago
@daguzify, healthcare bill was a gift to health insurance companies. Is anyone paying less for health insurance now? Ending the war in Iraq...only because Iran is looming as a more profitable war. Stimulus where a fraction goes to jobs while the majority goes to his Wall Street buddies. Yeah, McCain wouldn't have done any better but at least we would have expected it from him. Obama is a hypocrite and a sellout.
trader1963 3 months ago
@daguzify I agree that Obama is worse in some respects to a republican. He is able to do very heinous things under the guise of compromise. Please, do some research on these points, I am not exaggerating anything here:
- Health care = subsidies to the insurance companies. He did everything to ensure that the public option was not on the table
- Iraq - The timeline for withdrawal for the end of 2011 was negotiated under the Bush admin. Obama wanted to extend the mission! Maliki said no.
muaddib878 3 months ago
@daguzify
- He had a chance to fight for the end of the Bush tax cuts for the rich; he could have pushed for that under a democratic congress. Moreover, Boenher is even on the record on TV saying that he would allow the Upper class tax cuts to expire IF that meant keeping the middle class tax cuts.
- Wall street has made more profit in the first 2.5 years of the Obama admin then the entire 8 years of the Bush admin
muaddib878 3 months ago
@daguzify How do I triple "like"?
geo88058 3 months ago
@daguzify your right, we would end the FDA for one thing. Then the best cancer treatment in the world could actually be produced, rather than held up in courts. If you aren't familiar with it, look up burzynski. He discovered a 30% success rate cure to cancer, with no side effects. The FDA said, and I quote, "we will never approve a drug that only one person holds the patient to". So thanks to the FDA, we cannot use this treatment, and must use chemo, with a 1% success rate. Thanks FDA.

I just don't know.
fightforyourrights9 3 months ago in playlist More videos from TheYoungTurks
@fightforyourrights9 If Paul get's in believe me, he will have the people behind him and congress WILL move. Remember, a large part of the House are now teaparty members, and it is likley they will increase next year. What does that mean? It means about 50% of the teaparty agrees with Ron Paul about the wars and nation building and torture. So he would have a mandate if he got in. Hell, its worth a try...no other politician will stop the wars, not even democrats. Now Obama is threatning Iran!
calimar28 3 months ago
@fightforyourrights9 Dont forget, Ron Paul will end the Fed. That might be the very best thing about him. My compliments to Michael Shure in this video.

@shittyfagg absolutely, man.

@tph2010 I agree with shittyfag here, Obama is really just a department store dummy, an establishment guy in a suit.
