Bit of a downer here so maybe don't read on, the ANZACS usually shot their surviving horses after WW1 and WW2. The soldiers developed close relationships with their animals (not just horses) and couldn't bear to leave them on what was untill recently enemy soil. The soldiers couldn't handle what they imagined would happen to their animals after they left - even though these animals had gone through war as well, but there was no chance of taking them home due to quarantine.
@Misr0i It's because the point of the show is not correct answers first, but quite interesting answers first, correct second, incorrect, then obvious. It's why they are able to have someone best in a particular field on the show, because it's not necessarily about correctness.
@Orlabobz If they release the extended version, it'll be this evening, and Wayne will have it up soon. It's not the full two hours, but things will make vastly more sense.
ok hold up, now the scores always confuse me, but how on earth did the woman who knew just about everything about horses only win by one point? I know she got a forefit, but still!
@Orlabobz It's a two-hour recording cut down to a 30-minute edit; very rarely will the scores make sense. It's just a lot of forfeits get left on the cutting room floor.
Ooh, I knew about the Teddy Roosevelt/piranha thing! The way I read it, a river had been damned so that the piranhas were starving and unnaturally aggressive, hence their reputation today.
I've noticed... Why does BBC2 not show up on the channel listings during credits? (American here.)

FYI Clare Balding was an amateur flat jockey; hence, all the knowledge about horses. I bet we'll see the missing forfeits in the XL.
