  • love when you ignored your small mistake..so great!

  • One more thing .. Where do you learn this?

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • stunning! thank you for a beautiful post!

    Peace- Clark

  • exelent!!!!

  • Cool. That song was played at my wedding.................... well it wasnt my wedding it was my ex's

  • I am extremely impressed, I can fumble through this version from the new real book but have no idea how to produce such a lovely improvised solo as you have done.

  • You could not have selected a finer composer of melodies than Oscar Levant. You have done a very fine, heartfelt, rendition of his masterpiece: "Blame it on my Youth".

It may be of interest to your fans that Levant was a close friend with George Gershwin. When George died in 1937, it was Oscar Levant who was crowned as the sole interpreter and virtuoso performer of George Gershwin's Music. All of it!!!

Keep up your own extraordinary and refined work!

  • Beautiful.... :D

  • You know you are very talented in your musical recreational activity! However, I would recommended that you try and look into a different category of music other than jazz. You seem to be great at playing jazz pieces, but I think you should at least try to expand your creativity in your musical activities!

  • Hi Kim! Great job! :) Where did you get the band? Are they live, or are they prerecorded tracks? If the latter, did you program them yourself?

  • Band in a Box 2007

  • Hi Vayshan,

I really enjoyed your playing. Where do you get the jazz scores from? especially this piece.

  • Real books. Get a set of them and you're set for life.

  • what's the book called? or can I just get this piece: blame it on my youth?

  • They're called Real books. And fake books. Google a little and you can find a search engine where you can input the name of a song and it will give you a list of volumes that list it.

  • Good playing dude. Is there anyway I can get what you're playing? Thanks a lot dude keep it up.

  • Great vid Vayshen. Have you any scores with music like this? Could you send me some by e-mail? Thx

  • LOVE it. I'm trying to learn this on the piano right now so I can sing with it.

  • Very cool! Hope it works out ^^

  • WOW... i'd like to have your version in mp3. Could we arrange sth by mail?? =D

I always play this video just to listen to the music... This song is one of my favourites. I ve really enjoyed it. Thank you very much

  • Glad you like it! I don't think I have an mp3 of it but mabye I will re-record a slightly shorter version and get an mp3 made for you!

  • just wow...

  • Hi Kim, very relaxing tune, you use a nice dynamic and solo.

    Keep posting

  • Thank you! Expect more around the holidays when I may have stereo working!

  • that sounds good ! :-)

where did you get the band?

by the way you're so lucky having such fingers. I wish I could stretch mines!!

  • actually I cannot stretch a 10th with my left hand =(. They seem long but my hand/finger stretch is average, that being a 9th.

  • just gorgeous.. never heard this tune, but the way you play it inspires me to try!

  • i loveloovee this onee!

anw, where'd you get the music sheet? i want it soo baad! :(

  • Thanks! I get just about all of my sheet music for jazz stuff from real and fake books. There are alots of varieties of them, but try to get the latest ones; I forget their name but look around. They have alot of standards in them, this being on of them!

  • When playing solo piano there's a common technique to play tenths in the left hand (play a C with the fifth finger and an E (in the next octave) with the thumb. For some people that's a tough stretch. I joked that with your long fingers you could probably reach the Ab in the next octave with your thumb!

  • Ah I see hehe. I'm familiar with that tenths thing but sadly I can't apply it :(

Anywhos, I'm currently trying to fight off an annoying fever since Sunday so recording has slowed down.

  • Wow, either the video is distorted or you've got some long fingers, and I think it's the latter. You can probably stretch a b13th. Nice, controlled playing and good touch. Keep posting!

  • hehe, nah I'm just skinny....I think.

What do you mean by stretch a flat 13th? If I were to play C7b9b13 (for example) I'd play C-Bb-Db-E-Ab; but I think that's normal ^^

  • sure. thanks for the comments =D

  • Well done :)

  • 1st comment! j/k

Nice song, makes me very relaxed.. 8-)
