  • Universal doesn't want anyone to see how ridiculous this movie is, in the hopes some people will buy the DVD to find out. Let me save you precious time & money 'It is SHIT!'. There's no need to thank me.

  • This movie makes no sense whats so ever.

  • 1:41 well theres something you see everyday

  • for all the morons out there who hate the 2011 thing, dont search up "The Thing 2011" and comment " HURR BLURR DIZ MUVIE SUCKZ"

  • You know, my biggest ptoblem with this movie is not about general production, I admitt even with pretended fear of non existing CGI monsters, It was pretty scary and shit was that some kind of creepy stuff going on in there...

My problem is... that in EVERY SECOND FUCKING HORROR MOVIE nowdays there must be two most unlikable characters that are destined to survive and you know who they are from very begining... it's always some stupid bitch and her potential love interrest.

  • @YuriPRIMEpoland fuck you man that womens hot

  • Its really creepy when it looks at you after its transformed. It has no emoton and it freaks me out. D:

  • RUN! IT'S DEAD SPACE PACK MAN!

  • So the Thing uses other celluar structures for it to evolve?

  • @nalrashido Yeah basically I think

  • @nalrashido yep exactly. The part that freaked me out in the movie is, You could be The Thing and not know it until it starts ripping thru your body. IT absorbs all your cells and then mimics them so everything will seem normal. It then just hides inside the host until it wants to show itself.

  • It was shit if you compared it to the original, viewed on it's own this movie was not bad, just an average movie, which is why it's so hated, the John Carpenter remake was so good, that this movie would be judged against it and doesn't hold up. When you take this for what it is it's just an alright movie, I enjoyed going with my girl to see it

  • @davidmumma66 That's exactly what I think dude.

  • this is a one fucked up necromorph but one question HOW DID IT GET HERE?!

  • It would be a cool idea for a mob in dead space 3

  • and now i'm waiting for the official movie of dead space

  • Wow the first female to be infected...

  • thats funny because my ex-girlfriend used to behave the same way when she got angry and the only thing that could stop her was a flamethrower

  • Me in the theater when I first saw this:

    Ahhhhhh shit...

  • I would still fuck her; especially the way she looks at me at 2:44.

  • @JackieRogerJr true true she looks like she wants it yo

  • Even in the original movie I wondered why the hell they had a flamethrower at an Arctic research lab. Guess they had to keep warm somehow.

  • well....its not crappy....but people always want the same "thing"...jajaja get it?

    *SHUT UP FOOL!! .... :'(

  • dammit Romona flowers!

  • what the fuck is it doing to the dead body?

  • @DSkehan2004 Assimilating it and making it into another thing. There's a deleted scene where you see Lars torch it after Juliette is toast.

  • burn baby burn

  • the movie rules,...its a fantastic effort in not changing the conception of the carpenter´s one......and the effects are practical in substantives parts,...dont fuck around with the cgi some of you looks a little obsessive ,....the plot was delicate and thrilling....they could fucked for real as Lucas´ve done with indy in indy 4

  • @PaintingWithNotes FUCKING WATCH THE MOVIE, MOST OF THE MOVIE IS SUSPENSE IT'S JUST BECAUSE THIS GUY IS SHOWING THE ACTION PARTS SO GTFO!

  • Dead Space also used The Thing creatures as references for the Necromorph creatures.

  • dead space 3 who knows?

  • better story the main hero survies or becomes the thing just my thoughts on the subject.

  • when i first saw her turn into the thing to things happend 1 holy crap 2nd resident evil 2.

  • i think you should be worried whatever gets you off i guess. i was whith you during your comments but along the way i started to worry about you to answer you question no this did not happen to me .one you more likely pulling my leg with others here on youtube or your series hope this does not comeback to hit me in the face but if it does oh well.like the nick name you got nice.

  • I agree with the top comment. The Thing (1982) and the Thing (2011) are two different movies. It's not possible to compare the two without sounding like a dumb ass. This one is the prequel leading up to the Thing (1982) not a remake, so stop treating it as such and appreciate the damn movie for what is. /rant

  • @diegoelopez I think that being a prequel is what hurts the film.

If it were a remake it would be more detached from the '82 film. As a prequel, you'd have to compare it to the Carpenter film since it ties directly into it. The creature is inconsistent, there's a giant plot hole involving the alien crash site, then there's the whole thing with the Russian base that was never mentioned in the original, I could go on.

It's a decent film on it's own, but it's pretty terrible as a prequel.

  • Gentlemen, let's not squabble over the trivial question of whether this movie sucked or not! We should instead be discussing much more important matters, like the fact that this scene gave me an erection. Did this happen to anyone else or should I be worried?

  • oh its julie-HOLY SHIT, KILL IT!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!

  • Why is the camera shaking, it is making me nauseous

And why are they staring at each other while talking

  • not good without Kurt Russel

  • Carpenters version is still the best. The 1st movie (with James Arness as the monster) was OK but just an average flick. This version is just too much a copy, made into a slasher film. I miss the "thingisms" - "I don't know what it is but it's pissed off". Palmer turning, pointing and saying "You gotta be fucking kidding". Gary saying "I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH". These made the movie a classic.

  • Why all the hate ? I'm a BIG FAN of the Carpenter classic although this one isn't as good it comes pretty damm close good cast good direction and is a great prequel people just love to hate and think in black and white either they love it or just say it's awful over all love both films and own them great horror films and I can see that at least to me this one will be a classic at least in my eye better then remakes and torture shit that comes out evey year this had a story and loved it

  • i wouldve been laughing my ass off in the theatre if the whole movie was like this XD HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • 1:22 THUMBS UP IF U KNEW WHAT WAS BEHIND HER

  • Dude! Torch it now! Just staring at it ain't gonna stop it.

  • Lady! Turn around faster! Turning slowly ain't gonna make it go away.

  • The first movie wasn't about monsters chasing and killing others. It was the suspense: you never knew who was the thing and who wasn't. Hell, even YOU could be contaminated. This "prequel" has turned an amazing book and an amazing film into any other slasher. Pathetic.

  • @PaintingWithNotes when's your movie come out? oh it doesn't? FUCK YOU

  • @PaintingWithNotes

Not exactly. It shows that the Thing has learned from between the movies. Think about it, it doesn't know enough about humans and that it basically assimilates others in broad daylight, not expecting any resistance. Over the course of the film it LEARNS. Now jump to carpenter's film, what do we see? A monster coming out only when it's exposed and or hidden. All in all, the creature's behavior makes sense.

  • @Animeman2008 Nah, I think they made the thing stupid in the prequel. Thing absorbed aliens that were much smarter than humans. It was probably stealthy there and only attacked when it was needed. The creature's behavior doesn't makes sense.

  • no.. this movie truly fucking sucks! even if you only watch the transformation sequences youll know that this is truly a terrible movie! if you wanna see a real movie with the exact same plot.. watch john carpenters the thing.. cause this movie isnt worth anyones time! seriously shitty

  • the monster doesn't have the kind of gravity that it did in ther Carpenter version. Its like all the stuff they had to do to make it look right, darker lighting, clever editing etc, made it seem way more dangerous. making it run around so freely with CGI makes it silly looking.

  • the transformation looks like dead space

  • @Shun6237 You beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing.

  • @Shun6237 I personally think that the original was the inspiration fot dead space

  • @Shun6237 I think dead space was actually inspired by The Thing once you think about it after awhile.

  • @HDGodStyle i agree now that i've watched the thing then played dead space 1 & 2 again yeah i think dead space was inspired by the things the two match up togethor perfectly.

  • she becomes like th flood from halo but nobody has a gun DANG! if only somone had a shotgun......

  • I wish the thing crash landed on a planet of robots. yeah that nigga would be fucked then!

  • This The thing kills the stupid original The thing. CGI kills the fake shit robotics lmao

  • @CreatedOnly4U The fuck it does.

  • when someone screams run dont stand there asking why RUN BITCH RUUUUN!!!! HE GONE KILL YOU!!! (B-rad voice)

  • from one thing i have gained from watching so many horror movies and having all my time to think to myself, if i were in the room, while everyone is shocked that there was blood in the shower,

i'd notice juliette not being as afraid and think:

"somethings wrong with her.... i'd better not stick too close around her."

  • CGI is awesome

  • If you don't like the movie than fuck off and dont watch it, dont type in "The Thing 2011" and say "HURR DURR THIZ MUVIE SUCKED"

  • @lolidestroyallofu the movie didnt suck at all I think, the animations are perfect but it was kinda disgusting wont agree?

  • @lolidestroyallofu compared to the original it kinda did.

  • @lolidestroyallofu well it did suck, what else are we supposed to say?

  • @lolidestroyallofu yes I do, this movie sucks

  • why didnt it just eat him?

  • 1:21 - 1:41 Could you turn around any slower? I don't know about anyone else, but if I heard those weird cracking and growling sounds, I'd start looking everywhere to see where they were coming from.

  • idk

  • What happened to it only attacking at night?

  • can someone explain me how do they become this parasite/thing out of nowhere?

  • @millionman4 The alien disguises itself as a human and if someone should somehow find out its true form, then it'll mutate and attempt to kill them in any way possible. Basically... That was never Juliette, just the alien pretending to be her until it could be alone with the other girl.

  • @Specterish thank you very much everything seems more clear now

  • @millionman4 It's hard to explain, but I'm guessing a small particle may have infected her and taken over her completely. If you look at the John Carpenter's The Thing, it happens the same way. So you never know who's human or who's the thing.

  • This thing kills its prey and then proceeds to assimilate it, in other words, it creates another thing with the form of that prey. One of the things killed this woman and created another thing with her form. That's what creates the suspense in this movie: if the thing uses the form of their preys and acquires their knowledge, we don't know who is a thing and who is a human...

  • She like : "RUNNNNNNN!!!!!"

What does he do? He just stands there like an idiot until he's killed. >_>

  • these guys make necromorphs proud

  • what ugly cgi

  • F*CK I'M HAVING NIGHTMARES TONIGHT

  • @captdavid160: I've seen worse.

  • I haven't seen the movie yet, but at least a couple of the scenes I've seen--the flamethrower that breaks down at the worst possible moment and the guy with the working flamethrower who just stands and gawks in disbelieving shock and horror while the hero(ine) yells at him to "burn it!"--seem blatant ripoffs of the original (remember the blood test scene in which MacReady's flamethrower won't work and Windows is too horrified at Palmer's transformation to use his?)

  • 1:19 for it to start

  • beautiful

  • fuck cgi

  • Remember the thing from the original one. it was smart, didn't reveal itself pointlessly and did stealth kills. This one just goes on a rampage immediately. It's not the same monster.

  • Necromorphs... Call Isaac.

  • That "THING" isnt scary, creepy or realistic looking......Its FUCKING UGLY!

  • Thing (1982) >>>>>>>>>> Thing (2011)

  • This would make a great videogame.

  • @cinemalego wrong, they already made a video game for the PS2 console and it sucked ass...sorry

  • @butterfly153239 I know about it, and I also know it sucks. But it just depends on who makes it, so actually, no one was wrong.

  • @cinemalego yeah but I don't think they would make another video game

  • "This being can assimilate it's victims, deceptively changing itself into one of us. Oh, but, she's a woman too, and she's scared like me, so, I can trust her and turn my back to her!"

What a fuckin' retard. Gather everyone together, check 'em all out, then decide who you can and can't trust; 'til then, I wouldn't take a pinch for anyone. But for plot convenience, someone would flee anyway, forcing them to go on a wild goose chase while someone else dies or turns.

  • @VergilsRespite Or the damn flamethrower would break.

  • Of course this movie used CGI!! If they used the same effects at the 1982 version then the creatures would of looked just plain silly! And the cgi is decent! You know you've seen worse than this!!!

  • @XtreemeGamer Also, the high res cameras would have shown any mistake or imperfections of the models/robots

  • 2:00 remenber always run when someone says RUN!!!!

  • You don't see this on David Attenborough

  • flame-throwers are litterally the best thing ever

  • thumbs up

  • this movie is awful

  • @metalmaster88 Dude u can think what u wan't but if u think that good 4 u no one but 6 other people thumbs up your comment ooooo big deal just keep your opines to your self DOUCH

  • True fact- If that really happened, and it was real she would have never made it out that room =/

  • The original used amazing puppets/robotics, this one just uses cheap CGI.

  • @BachikoiBabi They used " amazing puppets/robotics " in this movie, the first cut of the movie have puppets ! But Universal said " Ok ! It's good ! Now let's re-shot everything with CGI for no good reason :D ! " so now we have CGI :/ There's a petition for the practical cut .

  • @BachikoiBabi and way too much of it

  • @BachikoiBabi actually they used robotics for the movie but not the whole time

  • @BachikoiBabi It's the story that counts bro, look at The Evil Dead!

  • @BachikoiBabi Actually they used animitronics and puppets and then polished it up with cgi in this one.

  • @1991Hatcher You got the facts wrong. They didn't "polished" them with cgi. Universal demanded cgi, so all that hard work with amazing puppets was useless. They just put cgi over that and all you see is crappy cgi in the finished film.

  • @BachikoiBabi YOUR CHEAP CGI, The original's effects were bullshit.

  • @BachikoiBabi It uses a mix of both.

  • @BachikoiBabi This movie originally had animatronics, but the studio thought the puppets didn't look scary enough and were too slow so they had them redo everything with CGI.Youtube The Thing 2011/ Creatures by ADI to find the video showing the original animatronics and them filming with the robotics.

  • Kind of felt bad about Juliette since she seemed the most innocent of the group, but you knew she was going to become it, or get killed by it as from the get-go you kind of knew who the survivors were going to be. Kate because she was the main character (I know there isn't confirmation about her living, but she didn't die from the monster itself), and Lars as he didn't speak English and they helicopter gunman from the 82 one didn't (But was obviously a member of the base team).

  • standing there and watching ALWAYS works right??

  • @MrBlooCola yes,yes it is

  • Reminds me of halo flood

  • run bitch run!!!

  • i was watching the movie but i didn't get how SHE got infected? i don't remeber her coming near it to begin with could someone clear up this confusion for me?

  • @bimseal agreed

  • @bimseal Griggs followed her to the bathroom

  • @BadWolf117Returns

    I don't remember that part...

  • @bimseal

I got no idea, it must of been split in two parts or something, because shortly before it was on the helicopter that crashed (Which was nowhere near the base), and the pilots didn't return until much later in the movie.

  • the sound that monster shit does when dies reminds me of the Guardians from Dead Space, like some kind of relief

  • @corvusmalo You know the creators of Dead Space got the idea for the Necromorph creatures from John Carpenter's 1982 version of The Thing?

  • @butterfly153239 yeah, hence my comment xd

  • It's the chick that played Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World!

  • Something about the old style way of representing the thing (the wierd mushy puppets or whatever) seemed way more gruesome

  • @ThreeFrotheFuzzy

I concur, it's probably because the thing they are filming is actually there, and not CGed in after the filming. Although with the CGI they were able to make the monster while still keeping the victims facial expressions which was kind of creepy (See 2:44). But when it comes to the monsters themselves, I always thought puppets were better then the CGI (Although in some cases, like the T-1000 in Terminator 2, it *needs* to be CGI).

  • @DrewPicklesTheDark I totally agree with you on that.

  • @ThreeFrotheFuzzy oh yeah and to me it looked much more realistic too.

  • The one problem I had with this movie was that the creatures weren't disgusting enough. One of the reasons why I liked the original film was that the creature were terrifying and disgusting (meaning how they looked, moved, and interacted).

  • @wcw2793 the only creature that I thought looked halfway decent was the "splitface" creature, where they showed an up close look at it but they made it look like shit when they used CGI on the hair.

  • @yeldahA7x Yeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is what i go through mentally when i encounter a spider.

  • All I was thinking when I saw this was dead space...

  • @greger2045 that would be such a sick sci fi movie.

  • @chromosome24 you said it mate!

  • @chromosome24 ya it would be but I wonder if the just used practical effects instead of cgi I wonder how badass the Necromorphs would look?

  • dude. Why is it that in all of these scenes the first thing that comes to my mind is

    Some sort of sick porn?

  • @TheMeatLover123 wtf is wrong with u? u need some serious help.

  • @butterfly153239 xDD lol im a morbid and sick person but thats really what it looked like at first glance O_O

  • You can clearly hear a lion roar at 2:57.

  • @valdi9165 Omg.. Its true XD

  • In a horror movie I now realize you kind of have to put yourself in that situation like a girl turning into a monster you running around and burning it that is not scary but if you were that person Hell Ya It Would!!!

  • i love how that random beard guy just comes out of nowhere with a fucking flamethrower. no one called for him, he just sort of shows up... with a flamethrower...

  • That hand held shaky camera thing stopped being clever 14 frames after the first time it was used. If someone is holding the camera, they're not going to capture edits from 4000 different angles.

  • HAHAhAhAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAH its like an necromorph XD

  • Things to take on a trip to Antarctica:

    * gloves

    * beard

    * flamethrower

  • @crapatev Nice try, but they`re smarter than you ;D

They took grenades with them too! The most important thing to survive in Antarctica XD

  • @DieGrenzFrequenz "They took grenades with them too! "

OK, I'll take grenades as well. And maybe some toothpaste (if I do morph into the Thing during the course of my stay, I'll still need to practice good dental hygiene).

  • @crapatev and earrings apparently

  • @crapatev

    You forgot...

    * clean underwear

I know I would need it if I was alone and saw someone I knew transform in to that and try to kill me impaling someone else I knew in the process.

  • Don't fear! Lars is hear!

  • One thing that disappointed me about this rendition of The Thing. The movie used way too many of the "Circular gaping orifice mouth with lots of teeth and tentacles coming out". The used it with this one, a little with the dude on the chopper, and the last Thing on the spaceship. Kind of lame compared to the stuff in the original.

  • @DathanielTDK

precisely that's why i say the monsters are cartoonish............basically, you have a big mouth full of teeth chasing people...............

  • @DathanielTDK I agree, in the original all the tranformations were unique and creepy in their own way. In this one it was almost always a mouth-stomach thing. Combine that with crappy CGI and it's pretty lame. I wish John Carpenter would come back to make a real sequel.

  • a necromorph! cut off her limbs

  • she parkourd that freaking office

  • Well I guess that's

    *Puts on glasses*

One less Thing to worry about

  • I'd still do her

  • @joesmoe71 thats sick
