  • thats actually in versions 9.04 and lower.

  • Impossible though as in Linux unfortunately the graphical environment is just "set on top" on the console (like Win 3.1 on DOS) and so this fluent integration is impossible.

  • This is great!

  • any one have used ubuntu 9.10 ? let me know how is it. Because I tried to installed it from upgrade from ubuntu 9.04, it kind of screwed up my laptop over such as like not working touchpad, slow performing

  • buggy as hell!

  • You are loading old kernel from 9.04, i got the same problem ;)

I fixed it using new kernel 2.6.31 from 9.10

  • Same here.

I did a fresh install, and it's near perfect.

  • @kylehuynh88 Well I have just installed 9.10 desktop series in my pc. and yes I didn't download it I just requested the disk for free. Its Original

  • Computers can't do animation that fast. (really like going from desktop to shutdown in 2 seconds would be REALLY glitchy)

  • Uh... what kind of computer are you using? Something from the 90's?

My Karmic install boots in 20 seconds and shuts down instantly.

  • Obviously neither of you have ever seen a bootloader. It's super low-res. Plus Although my Mac could probably do that, not every computer could, and if that is the case, then it would look really laggy. Plus this is way it is 11 seconds. If you can find and OS this fast send it my way. Otherwise...

  • r u bein serious?, man its an animation....

  • Stop using your Coleco Adam and you wouldn't have so many problems.

  • great minimalistic bootscreen!

keep up your work and I see

foreward to find a package for in apt :)

  • I LOVE IT... I hope it will be this!!!!

  • that is awesome. i can't wait for 9.10

possibly this could be available as a choice, incase older systems cannot handle it.

  • I like the idea of desktop sliding from the right.

  • :) you should really provide animation with login window :) but with this current mockup it's rather easy to just slip in another sideway stop for login...

    I liked the simplicity

  • Looks great, I LOVE it because there isn't too much shadow and glow on the text, I love just the simple colours and no gradients in a boot screen.

Anyway I'm offf to try and write this for my latest arrival, my beautiful Dell Vostro 1000 for £350

  • I was really expecting "it's now safe to turn off your computer" at the end xD

  • Maybe another transition efect. But nice idea.

  • That is totally swish.

But how would you do it for real?

  • Hey I really love the idea!! It looks wonderful and very simple, BTW what I am concerned is the 3d usage when computer is starting up, something that not many of the computers will be able to pull up...

Instead of slide the boot screen, why don't just use only fade in and fade out effects instead??

  • Nice idea.

  • This should be it!!!! It's the best Boot sequence I've ever seen!!!

  • Beautiful !

But is it possible without 3D effets enabled ( at the start up of the computer ? )

  • Awesome stuff! It would be even more cool if the desktop itself faded in and out to make it even more seamless, but I'm not certain if that's even possible ;)

  • Good work- What software was used to make it?

  • Hey, thanks! I used Autodesk Animator Pro.

  • this is simply awesome - I want it!! ^_^

  • Very slick - try a fade in with the ubuntu logo. I think there trying to remove usplash all together now tho to boot ubuntu quickier
