  • Someone please send the sheet music for this? I can't find the chord melody for this anywhere. PLEASE

  • 3w.diegoriedemann.cl

The D chord is a modal interchange

  • :)

  • I don't know about you but his thumb popping up on the other side of the neck is kinda creepy.

  • i learned how to play guitar this good with an ebook called secret guitar diagram

  • Come on Pat. Jazz guys playing the Beatles is so overdone. Let's think of something new why don't we.

  • <3

  • AWESOME RENDITION !

  • The best guitar players don't pretend they're great or try too hard to be the best. Metheny doesn't even try a little. That's why he might be the best.

  • he is my fav guitarist in the whole world and with each new release, he continues to amaze !

  • Please check out my video which is a lesson on how to play 'And I Love Her', I cover the intro, verse and middle chords, solo and a nice verse filler. Please leave comments and requests if you liked my lesson. Thanks

  • to the Marmite girl xx

  • That was a very nice version. Pat Metheny - lots of respect, a very fine player.

  • You can listen him breathing! Wow....speachless! It seems that he is everything with the guitar....

  • ...I have repeated so many time to her that I love her but what I expected is that she said: "No!" instead she just leave me in the cold.

  • This is perfect for this Valentine day...

  • My sentiments exactly about the Beatles....love your guitar tribute!

  • geniusz

  • Hmm, hmmm, hmmmmm... I hear so what yousay about the 4 guys from Liverpool... what a beautiful interpretation. Thanks for turning me on to this!

  • Very nice! Lovely.

  • Nice as always Mr. Metheny. Hat's off to your video and audio guys too.

  • Alternative guitar tuning, besides all the years of music theory, artistry and experience put into it, makes this Pat's beautiful music playing seems that more complicated. Not only for guitar players like me but to any music lovers as well. Deep? Don't even say it.

  • Beautiful!

  • Fantastic!!

  • Suono bellissimo interpretazione non da poco, inimitabile!!!!

  • Very, very good.

  • Beautiful!Nice harmonic surprises.

  • 12 people clearly didn't go to specsavers....

  • are you shittin me with the D major chord at the end?

  • @jdizzleski brilliant, isn't it? same in the original

  • @jdizzleski what do you mean? the original ended like that. did you expect more? like some weird sixth or seventh chord, or maybe for it to end in b minor?

  • @jdizzleski huge precedent in the classical pantheon for that bro, it's called the Picardy third or the tierce de picardy. ending a minor tune on the parallel/tonic major chord has been happening for hundreds of years.

  • @jdizzleski I thought really good guitarists weren't allowed to use regular major chords....

  • Manzer guitars are absolutely beautiful sounding.

  • jesus christ look at those f'ing nails?!!

  • I'm a long time fan. When are you performing in Atlanta again?????

  • As a Pat Metheny Puritan awoke one bizarro morning from troubled, metamorphic dreams, He found himself transformed in his bed into the monstrous, evil incarnate Kenny G, screaming, ''Must eat Satcho's Brain'

  • Beautiful sound of his guitar. What kind of a guitar is it? He was doing great until that moment when he started noodling, and then he lost me. Also, he never modulated from D minor to Eb minor, which is the biggest payoff of this song. Any reason why he chose not to go for that payoff?

  • @alexbunardzic he used a kind of guitar called "baritone", maybe that's why

  • @AllisterMort This is not a baritone guitar.

  • @alexbunardzic

So, his perfectly credible solo is "noodling" to you. And you fault his for NOT using a chessy Pop gimmick like modulating a half step down?

You're an idiot. The "biggest payoff" is the melody and arc of the melodic lines. Stop pretending you know anything about music, poser.

  • @Rexicano You're absolutely right, what was I thinking? Of course, Pat Metheny is the unsurpassed musical genius, he would never stoop as low to ever touch pop drivel such as the Beatles song! Pat Metheny knows absolutely everything about music, the Beatles knew shit all about music.

  • @Rexicano Modulating from D to Eb to you is modulating a half step down? Seems to me you're the poser who pretends to know anything about music, if you can't even figure out that going from D to Eb is modulating half step UP, not down. You have spat up in the air, and now your own spittle had returned and splattered all over your face.

  • @alexbunardzic Angeber!

  • maravilloso sonido de los Beatles con el maravilloso sonido de Pat. Gracias !!!!!!!!!

  • This guy has really influenced my life.

  • Thanks Pat. I'm so glad our familys have talant.

  • Que impresionante, el tipo hace hablar la guitarra, le da vida, un genio Pat!

  • No kidding aside...The beatles had a profound impact on the world.. I have always ejoyed this Beatles ballad ...and with Pat's playing of this classic ...It makes me want to go over and pick my guitar up...I remember when this song came out ...and a week or 2 later I spent my allowance on a set of nylon strings and put them on my Mom's 55 j45 and learned this wonder song ..Thanks for posting this ..Just love this man's playing ...would love to see him Live

    Cheers

  • I'm not sure if God can play the guitar, but if he can, then I'm pretty sure this is what it would sound like.

  • @ACDCcoverkid I guess i'm too lazy to write the ' -.-

  • lo maximo

  • otra vez, anteojos rojos a esta version, sin duda alguna, la mejor

  • esta cancion va con anteojos rojos

  • 8 clowns out there...

  • I want his classical guitar bad.

  • Such warmth, I know it isn't only about the gear, but I want a nylon string that will sing like that

  • Beautiful arrangement.

  • What this man does with 6 stretched pieces of metal with a piece of wood.....all I can say it is GOD given....LOVE it Pat!!!!

  • What a rich and carefully artistic sound. The 3-mic combination and echo plate(?) are superb (not to mention the guitar itself). Oh, the trial and error to get the tone just right! Well, this was done right, including the Picardy third at the end. Never ceases to amaze me how the masters mature.

  • Thank u Mr. Pat

  • It's such a privilege to hear you perform this gorgeous tune performed so elegantly. Thanks, Pat.

  • It was George Harrison that came up with the signature lick for this song.

  • Why even bother to mention the Kenny G comments that Pat made years ago. Making any kind of connection between maestro Pat Metheny's version of this song to that hack, Kenny G's cover of What a Wonderful... is so far out there that it appears snide and cynical. Kenny G likely had permission to dub his inane noodling over Satchmo's song but Pat's comments weren't about permission or rights or covering another's music; it was about respect for traditition. Thanks for this beautiful version, Pat.

  • Love you PM!

  • Not only is this a beautiful and faithful rendition of what is arguably the most beautiful Beatles song ever, but the quality of the recording is wonderful as well. A real musical treasure!

Now, Pat, if you'd please post a performance video of your rendition of "The Sound of Silence", it'd be greatly appreciated.

  • your the man Pat, always a pleasure to listen to your unique sound

  • what a pristine guitar sound!! n what the hell is this i here about kenny g playin over louis armstrong! noooooooooo...........

  • 2:01 playback? how does he play this high note?

  • mmmmmmmmm, so nice. really makes my day.

  • I've been a Pat Metheny fan for 30 years plus, he never fails to blow me away, this is too good for words, truely amazing.........

  • i s that a linda manzer baritone because it sounds beautiful

  • Checked out the music and tab in this month's Acoustic Guitar magazine, then had to come to You Tube. This is an amazing, intimate view of a master making music. I was transfixed. Who needs tab? It's all right here. Great video; thanks, Pat!

  • Fat guitar sound, excellent rendition. Thank you :)

  • Wow!!!That's an amazing interpretation, for sure!!

  • He likes REVERB!!! hehe But he is a genius!

  • 0:56 to 1:13 ... Time to change my shorts!!!!

  • Fantastica version! Extraordinario guitarrista!!

  • amazing

  • Fantastic!!!!!

  • The jazzy sound added to the melody is just divine

  • The jazzy sooubd added to the melody is just divine

  • If You need Tab for this, I made it in my transcription Page on Facebook...

  • @JazzKeyboardist1 As one of those, i hate to say you're right.

  • i can t put it pause o_O i caaaan t!!!! i love it!!!

  • No comment - no need to belive in God. Just listen.

  • If I want to play jazz on nylon strings like pat does should I get a flamenco or classical guitar and what technique should i learn (classical, flamenco,or something else)?

  • @FantomOfFear I thought both classical and flamenco were both played on a classical guitar. He also does a nice version of Ferry Cross the Mersey on a steel string acoustic.

  • the Beatles were huge for anyone of that generation — or any of the generations to follow if they're truly interested in music.

  • Unbelievable talent .... - this was done by Master! ✬✬✬✬✬ ♫♪ Vit

  • beatiful sound

    Teatro Team -

You were amazing...Thank you Pat :)

  • Rather nice! :)

  • fantastic composition, but among the instrumental versions i prefer José Feliciano's interpretation.

  • It shows the collaborative genius that was Lennon & McCartney.

  • Hearing this today at Poznan Arena was awesome, his improvisation was such wonderfull. Poland love you Pat and of course your trio too

  • Pat is perfec. Pleasure. Thanks.

  • What a musician! Only by being supremely talented and by playing from the heart can someone create such wonderful music.

  • He's so the teen next door that you think will really play really great someday, and you know he's sort of Mel Gibson cute, but still plays so soccer momish...

  • I guess there is a difference between Pat's permission from John Lennon's estate to cover this song, and his rant about ( the evil incarnate ) Kenny G playing over Satchmo's ''What a wonderful world",, ps yes,, Paul probably wrote this but they shared everything except Yoko,,lol

  • The 4 people that disliked this are the Beatles XD

  • @parrottmedia

Unless John and George have youtube wherever they are, I highly doubt it. And even if they did, this sounds amazing. ;)

  • A great artist doing a beautiful song. It moves everyone!

  • tabs anyone?

  • Nice!

  • Great as usual.

  • Pat is the man. Is there any music that doesn't turn into gold in the hands of this string magician.

  • Magic Pat !!!

  • @karelpoes I'm working on it!

  • Does someone need the tab? I'm making it so just sent me an email if you need it.

  • @manmeteencoolenaam I'd loved to have a tab of this song

  • @manmeteencoolenaam Would like the tab. Please send to kirkeby@mail.tdcadsl.dk.

It would be much appreciated :-D

  • I Love all your music Pat. You always create such sanctuary in your performances. Thank you for adding so much beauty to this world.

  • Beautiful. ...

  • Super!!Reminds me such of tenderness.

    cj

  • best video quality ive ever seen... perfecto!!! :D

  • Very pretty. Reminds me of Santo & Johnny's interpretation of this song.

  • its yesterday once more

  • Beautiful Pat, Thank you.

  • I realy like to know the type of nylon strings you use...sounds great..of course you are great also...I have been listening to you since late 70's.

  • If you can't do it on 6 nylon strings, you're not much of a player when the power goes off and all the effects fade away. Dr. PM is a master at it. Those years in Brazil just keep on paying off.

  • Thanks Pat ... your always such an inspiration! Another record that proves to be a masterpiece!

  • Amazing!!!

  • Beautifully Done!!!! Thankyou William for sharing....Anita =)

  • Thanks Pat !!! Great version of this Classic Beatles Song 1,0000*s

  • Where do i find tab for this virsion of pat?

  • Me encanta ese yeite del dedo pulgar. La sexta está en re? gRACIAS

  • WOW! The sound Pat achieves is simply incredible. Truly a legend and a visionary that exceeds time and space......

  • Where did he record this? Inside a chapel? Great natural reverb! I love hear his breath... it gives me more a lot of depth.

  • What an uplifting and romantic version of "AND I LOVE HER". I love the uniqueness and beautiful sound Pat Metheny makes. I heard this music on CHFI FM or 91.1 Toronto's Jazz station. I feel love when I hear this music.

I am alone on Saturday night just listening to this georgeous music. It seems to penetrate the deepest part of my heart and inner soul. I remember all the people I love and respect. Your an AMAZING ARTIST AND VERY UNIQUE !!!!!

    Congratulations, dear friend from US.

Greetings from Poland. I had a great experience to hear him in my hometown, in the Court Of The Pomeranian Dukes, Szczecin

  • Спасибо!

  • pat is the greatest musician

  • Beautiful!

  • wonderful interpretation from this song....*******

  • Hey Pat,

Beautiful arrangements of some amazing songs - made me realize how many great compositions have been written - though I got into jazz early on - as you did - those songs are all part of my roots - thanks for reminding me. Love the sound of the baritone guitar - have a solid body nylon /electric built by Del Langeans for Earl Klugh - and tuned down a 3rd - similar haunting sound.

  • EEEENNNOOORRRMMMEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

  • I want make love now !! :-)
