Seasons 1 and 2 were the best digimon, Season 3 was ok but then afterwards it just sucks. It doesnt even feel like digimon as this point like the franchise is going in a different direction.
I never liked this season too much because of the fact that it's the humans who become "digimans", so it goes in the bottom of my list. First are season 3 and 2 tied, then 1, then this.

@RBrim08 Since when? I'm pretty sure that more people like The Lion King than The Hunchback of Notre Dame, even though the latter is clearly the darker movie. And besides, I'm pretty sure the saying is, "The darker the story, the more intriguing it is."
I still agree about Season 3 being the best of them all, but "dark" isn't why. I like it the most because it broke from most of the conventional contrivances of the franchise, even if some of its filler episodes are the dumbest in the franchise.
@RBrim08 Dark themes do not make something necessarily better. Yes, I DEFINITELY agree that Tamers was the best. But is that because of its dark theme? NO. That's just ONE of the things that made it good. Even if it wasnt as dark, still, it did VERY GOOD character development, and had an interesting plot & events.
Data Squad is also somewhat of a darker-themed Series, but does that necessarily make it UP THERE WITH TAMERS? Heck no. (It was OKAY, I dont think it was BAD, but it wasnt THAT GOOD)

Season 3 aka Tamers did not have badguys... the badguys turned out to be the good guy, 1 second he tryes to kill them, the next he helps them. and it turnes out it is this red gue that is the bad... Thing.x) at the end i was like ''OMG, i was wayting for this EPIC badguy and it turns out it's red matter that is the evil stuff'' stoped watching. could not take it anymore.

@supersonicprices "Kill off characters?" The ONLY major character that died was Leomon. Although, yea, his death DOES pretty much set the whole last Arc of the Series.
And the plot was VERY UNIQUE. Even though it starts off very slow, it still gave a LOT of good character development & major clues on plot points that interest the audience. Plus, it gave us villains who later who actually turned out to be misguided, and gave us a villain who was neither human nor Digimon.

@McRnB503 that's an interesting theory, but I prefer to think: human spirit: champion, beast spirit: ultimate, fusion: weak mega, unified spirit: strog mega, ancient spirit: super ultimate (not widely known in america, but apparently a seperate level).
@80007ap I like that they made the kids more useful with that change. I always thought that in the first two seasons, after the kids made their Digimon digivolve, all they became were targets for the bad guys. They did make them more useful in season 3 with the Digi-modification and the way they Mega Digivolved, but I like that season 4 made the kids do all the actual fighting.
I hate how a lot of people whine about this season, I mean why the fuck would you whine about it? When I was a kid I always wanted to turn into a Digimon instead of watching my Digimon fight for me. Besides there's a lot of unity here, I watched most seasons Tamers seemed a bit too dark for me but I still watched it, although what caught my attention was the biomerge since I noticed the kids did something FINALLY! That's what brought me into Frontier.

It seems to me like the writers are trying to weed out the fans that aren't really "true fans" that will not accept such a broad concept as Digimon and its potentials to branch out in any direction. ALL digimon seasons have good and bad in them. Personally, I don't like much in Xros Wars, but I can still enjoy the story and new concept~

Well from my personal opinion, this season was just top notch. Sure they didn't have digimon companions anymore, but this is pretty wicked on a whole other level! I thought this was gutsy and revolutionary from digimon and I liked that. Pokemon or other anime who have continuous seasons don't like to take chances and keep everything too similar and it gets repetitive. This was just great, it's VERY under rated because it's "different". Come on people have an open mind!!

@TheLightOfHope20 Xros wars is amazing. You get the old digimon feeling while watching it, at least I do. Loved all the Digimon seasons, 1 & 2 was awesome in their own rights, season 3 for me is second best under Xros wars. 5 is the lowest with season 4 at 5th place. Everyone has their own taste in what they watch. When I watched Shoutmon X7 it was like watching Wargreymon/MetalGarurmon or Gallantmons first appearance. My inner child was cheering cause of the pure epicness I was watching.
I actually like Frontier, and it's concept of turning into Digimon. Seems so cool.
And you know what, I'm glad each season is different in it's own way. Makes it completely unique.
Remember Pokemon? It used to be a cool show, but it got really old and stale because the kept using the same formula and concept over and over again and wouldn't let it end.
The creators of Digimon wanted to avoid that, and they did a good job. And might I say, I love seasons 1-4.

Okay , 1. I love digimon 2.This series was the worst one for me because it was different because it combined a human with digimon instead of the digimon digivolving by it self 3.But I still like it 4. If you hate Frontier, you're not a fan. This season took Digimon back to it's roots, the only difference was the kids became Digimon and some of them quite badass at that. If you don't believe me. Look at this season's storyline and the Original season. Not that different.
And Emperorgreymon made the greymon family even more badass.

@sikisikiamimis I'm not a fan of Tk or Anything Angemon. They seems more like a Hinderance in the story than an Actual Asset until the end of Season one and then in 02 they tried to make him look tougher or more useful but Davis and Ken always outshown him.

At least for me,in the second season tk was better,at least he tried to do something instead of crying and angemon was threated like a normal champion finally.

it was a different one. tamers established there were several realities. a multiverse. Also the trading cards came from the card game. at least the biomerging involved a digimon not some spirit or something. i have nothing against this personally, but if they are gonna biomerge then biomerge properly

@sikisikiamimis Tamers was aimed at a mature audience. If I remember correctly there's actually blood in that show... the other shows was for kids not teens.
@sikisikiamimis I found frontier to be better than the adventure ones. the cast from that series felt more of a family and were interconnected in ways that you could actually relate to... with the occasional dark parts to it. Tamers, compared to frontier and the adventure series, Tamers was a lot more serious: there's only some humor, and the atmosphere is very dark with themes of hatred and vengeance (against digimon of course). that's what mostly appealed to me.
@DigitalxGamer Sure it is "different" and the whole "Exo-Suit" may seem a little farfetched to some, but if you think about how the Digital world is. It is perfectly reasonable for this form to be. I was not into this season myself. . .It's not, because I hated the Exo-Suit thing, but it just. . .didn't "feel" like Digimon. Hear me out The best season besides #1 was 3. . .at least to me, because It is the most "Accurate" depiction to the games. I love my TAMAGOTCHI'S and my. . . . TBC

I guess I never grew up with the games, so Tamers doesn't appeal to me...at all. I grew up with the anime itself.

Plus after Tamers the Digimon changed it's style. The same happened after season 2 of Pokemon. There was a drastic change in how they were depicted. This was most likely done to appeal to a younger audience or some other people I don't really care, but THEY CHANGED WHAT THEY WERE AND THAT'S WHY IT'S A LOVE OR HATE SITUATION

I guess you could say that I just...don't really like the designs for most of the Digimon, and I'm not a big fan of the "digivolution" method is utilized. I will admit it has good plot and whatnot, however.
@DigitalxGamer Dare you say anything against Tamers again... Tamers introduced Dukemon and Beelzebumon. That's an instant win. The reception of Frontier wasn't bad because it was so drastically different, but because it was simply too much like power rangers. Digimon Savers for example was very close to the first season yet fans didn't like it that much. Tamers was original on it's own, had an awesome storyline, awesome characters, awesome music and awesome fights. Overall rating: Awesome

You're the first person I've heard to compare Frontier to Power Rangers. xD I can see it now, but it's a very vague resemblance.
After Frontier, most "fans" were ready to say "anything but the original sucks". That's about 60% of anime fans. Plus, due to the story and a bit of the concept, it wasn't ANYTHING like the original.

It seems to me like the writers are trying to weed out the fans that aren't really "true fans" that will not accept such a broad concept as Digimon and its potentials to branch out in any direction. ALL digimon seasons have good and bad in them. Personally, I don't like much in Xros Wars, but I can still enjoy the story and new concept~

Well from my personal opinion, this season was just top notch. Sure they didn't have digimon companions anymore, but this is pretty wicked on a whole other level! I thought this was gutsy and revolutionary from digimon and I liked that. Pokemon or other anime who have continuous seasons don't like to take chances and keep everything too similar and it gets repetitive. This was just great, it's VERY under rated because it's "different". Come on people have an open mind!!

@TheLightOfHope20 Xros wars is amazing. You get the old digimon feeling while watching it, at least I do. Loved all the Digimon seasons, 1 & 2 was awesome in their own rights, season 3 for me is second best under Xros wars. 5 is the lowest with season 4 at 5th place. Everyone has their own taste in what they watch. When I watched Shoutmon X7 it was like watching Wargreymon/MetalGarurmon or Gallantmons first appearance. My inner child was cheering cause of the pure epicness I was watching.

I actually like Frontier, and it's concept of turning into Digimon. Seems so cool.
And you know what, I'm glad each season is different in it's own way. Makes it completely unique.
Remember Pokemon? It used to be a cool show, but it got really old and stale because the kept using the same formula and concept over and over again and wouldn't let it end.
The creators of Digimon wanted to avoid that, and they did a good job. And might I say, I love seasons 1-4.

If you hate Frontier, you're not a fan. This season took Digimon back to it's roots, the only difference was the kids became Digimon and some of them quite badass at that. If you don't believe me. Look at this season's storyline and the Original season. Not that different.
And Emperorgreymon made the greymon family even more badass.

At least for me,in the second season tk was better,at least he tried to do something instead of crying and angemon was threated like a normal champion finally.

I guess I understand why there are so many haters for this season, because it was so drastically different...but I really don't understand, then, why you're not hating on Tamers? I like all of the seasons, including 4 and 5. 3 used to be my least favorite...until Xros Wars. It's bearable to watch, but...kinda painful at the same time.

I didn't like how every digimon was kinda useless in Adventure except Wargreymon,Metalgarurumon and Angemon >.>

@sikisikiamimis I found frontier to be better than the adventure ones. the cast from that series felt more of a family and were interconnected in ways that you could actually relate to... with the occasional dark parts to it. Tamers, compared to frontier and the adventure series, Tamers was a lot more serious: there's only some humor, and the atmosphere is very dark with themes of hatred and vengeance (against digimon of course). that's what mostly appealed to me.

@DigitalxGamer Sure it is "different" and the whole "Exo-Suit" may seem a little farfetched to some, but if you think about how the Digital world is. It is perfectly reasonable for this form to be. I was not into this season myself. . .It's not, because I hated the Exo-Suit thing, but it just. . .didn't "feel" like Digimon. Hear me out The best season besides #1 was 3. . .at least to me, because It is the most "Accurate" depiction to the games. I love my TAMAGOTCHI'S and my. . . . TBC

Just wish people actually played it though >.> but anyways what makes Frontier "Weird" for me was that there wasn't that in the games of yore that I loved in my youth. To me Digimon stopped after Tamers, because it just didn't feel the same anymore, just like how Poke'mon ceased to be after season 2. They just don't Feel the same

The original had nothing to do with those games, and I liked the original formula. Then Tamers...I watched it, but didn't enjoy it as much. Frontier had a concept that I found fun to watch and the "Digimon" were pretty awesome.
I guess I never grew up with the games, so Tamers doesn't appeal to me...at all. I grew up with the anime itself.

Plus after Tamers the Digimon changed it's style. The same happened after season 2 of Pokemon. There was a drastic change in how they were depicted. This was most likely done to appeal to a younger audience or some other people I don't really care, but THEY CHANGED WHAT THEY WERE AND THAT'S WHY IT'S A LOVE OR HATE SITUATION

I guess you could say that I just...don't really like the designs for most of the Digimon, and I'm not a big fan of the "digivolution" method is utilized. I will admit it has good plot and whatnot, however.

The reception of Frontier wasn't bad because it was so drastically different, but because it was simply too much like power rangers. Digimon Savers for example was very close to the first season yet fans didn't like it that much. Tamers was original on it's own, had an awesome storyline, awesome characters, awesome music and awesome fights. Overall rating: Awesome

You're the first person I've heard to compare Frontier to Power Rangers. xD I can see it now, but it's a very vague resemblance.
After Frontier, most "fans" were ready to say "anything but the original sucks". That's about 60% of anime fans. Plus, due to the story and a bit of the concept, it wasn't ANYTHING like the original.
