great car. There are two 850 t-5s and a s80 v8 in my garage, nevermind the age of the 850s, they still give that special feeling of that turbo power out of nowhere (they both are chiptuned, but nevermind:D), I just do not feel the same in the s80... anyway, volvo for life.

This is why I have owned 2 volvo 850's (so far) and the first one was sold to a friend who wanted a dependable vehicle, who owned a 4 wheel drive vehicle. I sold it to her with 222000 miles on it and its been two years ago. She still drives it to this day. I replaced that car with another volvo 850. Turbo this time.

I live in Sweden and drives a 740 16v and a 945 turbo. Wonderful cars so I don't understand why Volvo started making fwd shit cars. But when the production moved from Sweden to other countries the cars didn't feel Volvo any more.

Economy and the swedish tv-show "trafikmagasinet" is to blame for that. Christer Glenning - the reporter spended years telling the average-joe that volvo made excellent cars that only had one fault - they was not FWD .... Finally Volvo did it - sadly. But hey, there are 4wd volvos now.

Have been thinking about it but they doesn't seem to be good enough for the price. Most of them only spin at one front wheel. I like Volvo so I don't try to down talk them for no reason but I think that sucks. Might be possible to modify the differentials but I haven't looked into it so I don't know.

Well, the first cross country was bad - they needed 3000 rpm or something to get the rear wheels moving. The newer haldex is as good as most of them - belive that audis quattro and bmw x-system is slightly better - but not by far.

Well the 850 T5 doesn't differ the amount of power between either of the front wheels so if the road is straight and level and you put too much power down they will both spin like a madman especially if it's tuned. But, the 850 T5 didn't come with an LSD even as an optional extra as far as I'm aware so if one wheel loses grip during hard acceleration due to cornering or uneven surfaces it will spin alone. But it's pretty controllable so I wouldn't worry too much.

FWD is great for most cars, just the t5 and T5R had to much power so grip didnt exist, i used to take my T5R to a quater mile drag strip, i allways won because i blinded the other guy with smoke. xD so i bit the bullet and bought a v70 AWD R 300 hp of 4 wheel drive AWSOMENESS
