I am more or less an agnostic. However I am open to all possibilities in the universe of immense complexity. Growing up in the Irish Catholic environment gave me a sense of the desperation in the hearts of people. Life is such a flash in the pan. When your poor and trying to survive there is little time to contemplate the great mysteries of life. In desperation we turn to God. Much of the world is mired in fantasy that is destroying us. This beautiful song however represents a compelling joy.
I've only hear one other choir sing this song with that much passion. Unfortunately on this recording the sound quality isn't that great, but this is definetly one of the best versions I've ever heard.
never been able to get this song out of my mind! We did the claps and everything. I was one of a handful of white girls and the experience was so fantastic that I think it was a turning point to becoming a Christian. Praise God!!
Good comment the one from phoenixsiwhatever!!! Gosh this song its so COOL!! I've been looking for it but does anybody has the Ron Kenoly version?? It rocks!!
I remember a few years ago, (it had been at least 3 months since I had been to church)during service this song came on during praise and worship I slipped up and said out loud "oh $@*!, this is my song". Luckily, no one heard me but the Lord because I was truly forgiven for that one. I guess I had slid back into the world and I was happy to be in the house again hearing my favorite song. Now whenever I heard this song I laugh, and I hope the Lord has a sense of humor and laughs with me.
I was a lilltle girl at this church names Mount Carmel on Forstall & Galvez when I heard this song sung by our mass Choir. Absolutely love it and brought me back to church back then!
Now THIS is an ole skool Jam! We sung this @ my state convocation and 'couldn't stop'! Did the same person who wrote this write "Worship The Lord"? They have the same ending
The "album" was titled "True Victory," and it was done by Keith Pringle & the Pentecostal Community Choir live at Cornerstone Baptist in LA. Originally recorded by Savoy Records and released in the early 80s... I have it on vinyl. Good luck in finding it on CD...Don't think it was ever re-released. But who knows?
