you shouldnt factor if 'a' and 'b' are equal to each other. it has to be 0=0 because there is no coefficient in front of the variables in the begging a^2=ab......a^2-ab is equal to a^2-a^2 or ab-ab and the answers to both of those are 0. you treated 'a' and 'b' as their own values.
Why are you stupid idiots making fun of the person making this riddle? In the description it clearly says "TRY TO SPOT THE MISTAKE". That means he knows that there's a mistake so stop jumping down this guy's throat. He just brought a little riddle for people's entertainment and you guys do this to him?
This is what's wrong with people today. Nice people can't live in this awful world.
yeah... it's because you're dividing by zero... I use this to show my Algebra II students why division by zero is undefined. if it weren't then 2=1 and all of the universe would collapse on itself.
Not a cool trick at all. "divide by a^2-ab" is "divide by 0", which leads to an undefined answer. When you find that 2=1, you know you fucked up anyway.
Answer is 0=0... First do the math in the parentheses and second you cannot divide by zero, also zero divded by zero does NOT cancel, it can be any number, but that is much more complicated to get into.
I cant believe it!!! Its in the comment: See if you can catch the MISTAKJE in this most perplexing math riddle.

For 5 years no one has noticed that!?!?!?!?!? OMG!!!

division by zero. shame on you.
deadlybug 1 year ago
yeah this is the complicated version, there is a simpler one:
a+b=c
=> 4a-3a + 4b-3b = 4c-3c
=> 4a+4b-4c=3a+3b-3c
=> 4(a+b-c)=3(a+b-c)
=> 4=3
just like in this case u cannot multiply with 1/0 which goes to ∞

No sean pendejos... ahí les va la respuesta
a^2 - 2ab = a^2 + ab -2a
pero
a^2 - 2ab = 0
AHI ESTA EL ERROR
2*0 = 0
dividió 0/0 solo insertó una indeterminación
¡¡¡PENDEJOS!!!

dont you have anything better to do?

no se puede dividir por cero...
grecotomix 3 years ago
99% of you guys just missed the point
its more than just dividng by 0, the equation
is impractical.....lets say a and b are NOT
equal...now 2 can equal 1...more examples...
2a=1a 2=1, 12(a-b)=4(a-b) 12=4,
1,947(a^2*bcd^43-17ef)=6,895(a^2*bcd^43-17ef)
1,947=6,895
anyone seeing a pattern here??

uhh you are so dumb we all know its 69.999j!

this is dumb.

so it's equal to a(a-b)= 0. Then a=0 or a=b.
Pobul 3 years ago
a=0
You can't divide by 0.
Pobul 3 years ago
@Pobul if 'a=0 then b=0 since a=b

by the way when you divide by zero ...it becomes and impossible solution!!

You're dividing by zero fool. That gives an impossible solution. You can never divide by zero! a^2 - ab = 0!!!

0 = 0
thebassgod06 5 years ago
yup, the trick is, you are basically saying: 2*0 = 1*0, then canceling the zeros off on each end.

Excellent explanation, thanks!

yeah, i saw this in a book i read one time, it's actually pretty cool, showed it to another asian guy in my class ; )

a^2-ab =0, you cannot divide.
