tried ubuntu 10.10 today, its much worst then ever :(.

my internet was about 14times slower.

my graphic card driver did not work and would not update.

for some reason the system when installing files keep asking for me to put in my password and hang up afterwards.

and last my update manager would not work and keep coming up with a error.

last ubuntu i tried before this was 9.01 and that worked great, its like wtf.

my windows 7 however runs perfect, I'm not a fanboy of any os but linux sucks.

@steven198807 Vaya soquete! para empezar no existe ubuntu 9.01, las versiones se enumeran por la fecha de salida año y mes(abril-04 y octubre-10) con eso demuestras que no sabes nada del tema. En segundo lugar, W7 requiere minimo 1Gb de ram para "funcionar" mientras que linux requiere 380Mb(dependiendo del escritorio) como rayos va a ser más lento?. Y, en tercer lugar, si tu tarjeta de video no responde es porque linux usa controladores "libres" pero se soluciona instalando el privativo.

The PC would take 15 minutes to get ready, and if it was running Windows 7 without faulty hardware, there wouldn't be a BSOD

@KraGeRzr This is so bullshit! When is the last time you tried installing a Linux OS? I'm hosting install parties at my school and Ubuntu is way faster to install than Windows 7, at least by a factor 2.

I kind of agree with your second statement though but hardware isn't the most common source of BSoD. Drivers are often faulty.

Anyway, Windows is flawed by design, you have to rely on Microsoft and your hardware manufacturer to get a working computer. You can't hack it, that's a massive fail!

@MuPuF I've been using Linux for 4 years, and while I concur that it's becoming a lot easier to set up, I was always frustrated with the fact that you can do very little with Linux apart from the standard set of supplied tools unless you know commands.

As to the second point, Windows relies on updated drivers and stable hardware just the same way any other OS requires those same things to work well.

I'm sure with a little time you could do everything except unsupported Windows games on Linux. But at the end of day, I'm not sure why, but Windows just feels less restrictive and more open-ended.

What I miss on Linux every time I use it is the Windows GUI and the way the Windows filesystem works.

hahaha! Mac??? Really??? Mac is like the type of computer you give your 3 year old son to play around with because it's pretty much useless otherwise (unless you work for Dream Works or Pixar). Seriously though, Mac is way over rated. Its OS is basic and limited, and the hardware trails even basic MS systems. Despite all claims, Macs frequently crash and do get viruses (through they're not as susceptible as windows systems). Once setup, Linux is by far the safest and most stable OS.
