Just noticed in your other video that you said that after you did your co-wash your scalp was itchy. I just read a book by Paula Begoun, "Dont go shopping for hair products without me." She mentioned that conditioner is meant for the hair and that we should try not to put it on our scalp. There may be irrating things in it and it contains oils or emollients that you want cleaned out of your scalp. As a general rule, cond for hair and poo for the scalp.
@nylorac1984 Thanks! I want to read her books. Now, I know that my scalp needs a sulfate-free or no sulfates shampoo, but sometimes we don't have the time to shampoo and then deep-condition our hair, so here comes the "co-wash". My scalp doesn't like anything on it, so that's why I do the ACV rinse; so far, so good.
Pantene pro v is the bomb and is definitely not expensive. I use it all the time, though i have not tried this method. I sometimes just condition after rinsing my hair with warm water if doesn't need shampoo. I will try this soon.
@mystiquesheeque No, that would be too much work for me and would dry my scalp out. Normally, I wash and condition my hair weekly or bi-weekly (depending on the weather, style, and/or my activities). I do wet my hair daily whether it is by pouring water on it or misting it with water from a spray bottle.
i am confused though, do you wash off every conditioner before styling or you could leave some there by rinsing a little out? in other words, can u leave conditioner in ur hair b4 styling or u must wash everything off?
@whisper2sophie I rinse out my conditioner(s) because my scalp doesn't like anything on it. Some naturals do leave conditioner in their hair. Also there are leave-in conditioners that you don't have to rinse out. So it all depends on your hair needs and the products that you use. I hope this clears up the confusion, but if not, just let me know ;-).
this video was great i was so confused about what a co-wash is now i know because i wash and cond. every week on sat. and iol daily so thanks and god bless
thank you for this video, cuz im so confused. so do i wash my hair in the shower with no product just with water thoroughly, hop out the shower and part my hair, add some shampoo and go. How would i keep it moist through the day. I mean ill oil it and stuff every other day. right?
You're welcome! Normally, I do all of this in the shower, but for demonstration purpose I had to do my steps so y'all could see me on camera LOL. I like to wash my hair before I take a shower, but you can do all of this in the shower too; it's whatever makes you comfortable. You wet the hair thoroughly, apply a diluted shampoo to the scalp (I have a video posted) or do the co-wash as I did in the video, rinse, and apply your leave-in and/or hair oil (I also have videos posted about that too).
I really like your video because it said how to co-wash any type of hair. I have been on you tube and so many people seem to be bashing people who have relaxed hair. And I always say to it what ever a person wants, because you can have healthy relaxed hair too. And I had to show this video to my girl friend. Thanks good job.
Wow! Thanks for explaining this for us. You did a great job. I'm doing my first cowash today, so thanks to you I know how to properly do it lol...xoxoxo
Yes, you can do a co-wash on any hair type. Since I'm natural, I feature my natural hair LOL, but yes, you can definitely do a co-wash on relaxed or straight hair. Thanks for the great question and supporting my channel ;-)!
So When you co-wash, you are suppose to use like something light like V05 and then something thicker like the Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal? Cuz I think I been doing this all wrong that is why my hair is not growing and, how often should a person co- wash?
For my hair needs that's what I do because using just the "thinner" conditioner isn't enough conditioning for my hair. The frequency of co-washing your hair is up to you. Some naturals co-wash everyday (I think ShidaNatural does), I co-wash about every 4 days (more like CWC meaning Co-Wash then, about Wash/shampoo and then condition) and some wash/cond. their hair weekly. It's really all on what your hair needs. I say start out doing a co-wash mid-week and shampoo & condition a few days later.
i really like ur hair type....i have family that kinda have tht type n kinda dont...but i like ur hair...it seems as it wud be easy to braid!!!!!!!
