  • One of the other issues you needed to work on was the trills. Dont feel the need to trill at a million miles an hour, let both the notes speak. Not some blur between C/D.

  • This is really good. You should post it on the Musical Overture site so more recruiters and conductors will see it.

  • @tblowry Thank you for your compliment. Could you give me more details of the site - is it a youtube channel, or a separate website?

  • You have really good musical interpretation, but your sound might need some work. It is quite edgy sometimes, and at the "throat", the 4-5 notes just below the second b at the instrument you don't really master to keep up the pitch. Besides, the top notes on your audition doesn't really come out as you would want. Consider switching to a harder reed or a more open mouthpiece. And dont forget to put a lot of effort in breathing excercises!

  • Bravo!

  • Hi Kelvin. I told it in some place. I cannot understand why you are not in finals. You´re playing is very consistent and your solvence is well known. You have a nice sound that matches whatever orchestra indeed. I saw your work playing Mozart as soloist with orchestra and this shows everybody that you are not a weak player preciselly. A pity you are not in there. Me either as other more either. Anyway, all the best henceforth. Cheers, Juan

  • @TrabalRipoll Thanks. You're very kind. I'm over it now, but I've learned from the experience. I'm getting so many constructive messages to learn from for the next one! All the best with your playing too.

  • @LondonClarinetist

We are apparently long way from being the only ones that feel this way. Sean Osborn who did a beautiful audition was not happy and said that they obviously want players who played with wrong rhythms, articulation and notes. And btw he has played with the Metrapolitan opera orchestra and guest principal in the New York Philharmonic. Well I don't know if professionals are not allowed to audition this year but Marco Mazzini played bass clarinet last year and he is professional.

  • Bravo!! You have a beautiful sound. You'll get my vote!!

  • @calligop If only I had got through to the finals! Sadly no voting for me will count with YTSO. Thanks anyway :-) Great accolade from Mason Bates! Well done! Would love to play a duo with you one day.

  • @LondonClarinetist Yep, realized that when I went to vote for you. So, when I'm in London I'll look you up and we play some Stravinsky!! hehehe

  • @calligop I look forward to it, Of course, you'll be world famous by then ;-)

  • this is very beautiful my friend :)

  • @mahoose6 Thanks, and thanks for favoriting! Seen your channel - Jazz clarinet is something that I aspire to play, but have very little experience with. Cheers.

  • Mate you sound nice and solid.... I dont know who would dislike you 5x but I guess there's haters everywhere huh! I have over 20 on mine, but know that they are mostly done in spite or by other trumpeters....... and yeah, that other vid was a JOKE!!!! lmao....

  • Very Good, Good luck to you.

I'm still waiting and i'm getting a little nervous. xD

  • @shinka1911 Thanks. Yeah, they're really making us hold on to the bitter end aren't they!

  • Good Luck :)

  • @joethemusician Thanks very much! I'm just about as nervous as I've ever been right now! :-}

  • @LondonClarinetist me too! I applied on oboe, english horn, and clarinet. I should have picked one but I think clarinet, oboe and english horn were too competitive to just try one. Maybe if I just really focused on one I would stand a better chance... still it was fun to just audition! Again, best of luck! You do sound great! We'll know in a few days!

  • Mate, you sound really good! I like your tone! It would be awesome if either of us got in to represent England. Good luck to you!

    Cheers

  • @ldixon53 Thanks friend! Yeah, representing your country at something is awesome! We'll wait and see. The tension this end is immense!

  • @LondonClarinetist

It is pretty intense... I keep checking just about every hour or so! haha

  • Nice job, good luck:) And thanks for advice in symphony discussion.

  • @AstaraelV12 Thanks and same to you!
