I quite like that he's trying something new with the bass stuff and more straight up melodys but I think the drums totally spoil it. What use is a great tune if the drums sound like a music students first go on fruityloops? At best...

@MclaughinRecords It's actually more like "we hold/owe this strange extravagance ..." then I lose the rest I also hear something something "...moves forth forevermore" for the first line, but cant make out much of anything else.

I dig the new album but my one complaint is the vocals seem kinda pointless when they are mostly unintelligible. He could have just made them synth melodies and it wouldnt have made much difference on most songs.

Seems a bit flat and nothing really unexpected or original like an unexpected tune or anything; I feel like Squarepusher's music is mostly left-brain type music and only touches here and there of inspired and memorable melodies.

@Floydian311 Admittedly although Squarepusher's songs do not have the immediate memorable melodies all the time, I find the songs can grow on you and I have been listening to some earlier stuff like Big Loada and it is well produced and intricate much of the time, and does grow on you after a while.

I think the reason people hate this project is because they see it as a 'bad -squarepusher-' while it's just a project that has tom jenkinson in it, and it's not so much Squarepusher alone. The expectations were in the wrong place.

yeah tom was great when he was noisy but that's been done by now. hell after all this time he's not even the best at being noisy anymore anyway. what he's doing now is more transcendent than ever.

Curious game of cat and mouse. We were surprised to see Squarepusher sound stamped on a label like Ed Banger, he finally finds that Shobaleader One was actually rather out of place on the French label. But in fact that Warp will release the full album! Shobaleader One - Demonstrator of 9 tracks present, it apparently remains in mind robo-funk dance that Tom Jenkinson had developed on the maxi, and obviously, this slapper bass at the bottom is a TB 303 Roland.

Yeah you're right, he's probably still with warp, but Ed Banger isn't wat it used to be anymore. I find the latest releases very disaproving, for example the Uffie album.

@JollyJunkie That's really the only piece of work released by Ed Banger that I have a problem with aswell, it's well produced but just not my style of music. I'd have no problem with Squarepusher on Ed Banger even though I doubt it will happen. I trust Ed Banger :)
