Jesus is getting the person's attention to the fact that in this truly wicked world, God is the One who is truly good. also, wasnt revealing who He truly was like that at that time, and wa even trying to avoid it. You are right, Jesus wasn't denying that he was God, but wanted the rich man to confess the fact he was God, since he referred to Him as "Good Teacher."
