My father was there when he was age 17 and a GI in the US Air Force. He witnessed this detonation and one other. check google earth re Nellis Range and Nevada nuclear testing range. Average pit size 10 kg of Pu per device, and look at the holes in the testing range.
That's a lot of Pu and fission waste blowing in the wind ... even from underground tests.

there's a theory that all these tests in Nevada are what killed john wayne, believe it or not. They shot some crappy film in a town that was near the test sites and probably was contaminated by fallout, and eventually, 75% of the people involved in the movie died from some from of cancer.

ya, the movie was called the conquerer and almost every time after a nuclear device was used in that testing area some tiny town would always be told "unexpected wind changes have directed fallout toward you. Seal your windows doors and any other opnings, do not leave your home.

My father was there when he was age 17 and a GI in the US Air Force. He witnessed this detonation and one other. It's really interesting to read some of your comments about what happened to the soldiers. My father is now 67...definately alive and definately not retarded. He was about one mile from ground zero of this blast.

i'm not going to dispute your claim that he was there, but if he was within 1 mile of ground zero, he would be dead. the closest they ever put soldiers was 6 miles from the blast. everything within one mile of a nuclear blast would be obliterated.
