I'm having trouble performing this OS. I've been in the lab for an hour now trying to get it to happen just once, but I either do the meaty mp too soon and it whiffs entirely or I do it too late and tatsu tries to combo off the blocked hit which I REALLY don't want. I can't seem to find that sweet spot. I think I'm missing something fundamental... concept wise. But I can do other options selects just fine so I'm stumped.
I don't play gouken. But I did learn a little more about Option-Selecting. Basically you buffer in a move or action during the recovery frames. Right?
I don't think this is a very good OS to use on Bison, seeing as most Bisons will teleport rather than backdash, and could potentially leave you eating a very, very harsh punish. Though, instead of the EX tatsu could you OS a palm and catch his teleport?
@NathyBUTTS I believe mp or hp palm will catch all teleport moves. It won't autocorrect if they teleport behind you though. If they backdash, they'll recover fast enough to block and you'll eat a punish. Ultra 2, hp.palm and hk demonflip work will against Akuma's backwards teleport. OS's are really character and move specific. Just gotta head to training mode and test out all of goukens moves vs certain actions and tailor them to your playstyle.
I wish he EX tatsu had a bigger hitbox, really annoys me how someone can do any crouching move (Majority of the time) and the ex tatsu wiffs and leaves you open for a huge punish.
But does ex tatsu beat flame kick, ex psycho crusher or fierce thunder knuckle.
Those are awesome OS's but if it doesn't beat the "go to" reversal different characters have, then more times than not your wake up offense is still stunted. But then again safe jump set ups can fix that problem.

Good job nonetheless.

@TrueUnbound yeah i was thinking the same thing. by the looks of it it probably won't beat wake-up dp reversals.
keliand 7 months ago
@keliand No meaty can beat dp's. There just isn't a usable normal with less than 5 frames of recovery.

@TrueUnbound You're right. This OS is more for punishing chronic backdashers though. The fact that is stuffs some reversals is icing on the cake.
